Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Interesting that the previously Dees hating Barrett, says we did the right thing in the Lever deal. Basically says that we are a professional club in trading.

He's also been quite critical of North. Maybe he doesn't "hate" us after all and was legitimately criticising stupid moves we'd made in the past

I hate to admit it as I have often felt so bruised by his commentary but I think you're right.  "scatter gun" WAS accurate, and was Neeld at his worst. His call on the Kelly trade was also fairly accurate....the fact we landed Hunt in that trade couldnt really have been seen.

The question is, do we go after Gaff next year via FA, or save all our pennies for 2 years, clear as much cap space as we can, and go after Kelly in 2 years time?

We had pick 58 before the Kelly trade and ended up with 57, where we took Hunt. So we were always getting Hunt.

The Tyson trade was a shocker.

An interesting side note on this issue...I think Roos came out and said he wouldnt have picked Kelly at 2 anyway didnt he? Or maybe Im not remembering that right...but Im pretty sure. So who really knows who we might have picked.

Jack Billings was his preferred.

But we would have also retained Pick 20 after which there were also good players selected.

We wanted Salem and believed correctly we could get him with 9. We thought Tyson would be a very good player for us. If his disposal was better, he could have nearly been that for us. He is still a regular 22 and we haven't got better players to keep him out just yet.

Salem can still improve and if Tyson improves disposal it becomes a better deal.

Tyson was also very good in his first year with us. 2014 I think it was?

I think people are writing Tyson and Salem off too quickly, they are still both only 24 & 21 respectively.

And people also choose to forget that at the time our list was a shambles and we needed as many good players as we could get, not just one top 5 draft pick.

People really need to get over this trade and move on.

Yesterday's "big" deal was Adam Saad leaving Gold Coast for Essendon with the Suns getting a future second rounder.

I just received a tweet from NAB Trade Radio suggesting that there's a big day ahead!

That's what they say every day and not much happens.

Thankfully, it will all be done and dusted soon.

Jack Watts found a new home today, joining Port Adelaide. Melbourne will receive pick 31 back for the former number one draft pick.

• Port Adelaide's Brendon Ah Chee was traded to West Coast today for a swap of future third and fourth round picks.

• Docker Harley Balic is set to join Melbourne and North Melbourne said they won’t get in the way of Andrew Swallow joining Gold Coast to play with his brother if a deal can be reached.

•  Brisbane General Manager of Football David Noble confirmed Luke Hodge will sign a two-year contract with the club. The Lions will attempt to trade with the Hawks for the veteran, but will otherwise head to the preseason draft for Hodge.

• a dramatic close to the 2017 trade period is looming as Bryce Gibbs, Gary Ablett, Jake Stringer, Charlie Cameron, Luke Hodge, Nathan Wilson, Lachie Weller, Brandon Matera, Josh Schache, Darcy Lang, Matthew Kennedy and more, will have their football futures decided by 2.00 pm tomorrow.

• meanwhile, Fremantle midfielder Harley Balic today found his way to Melbourne for pick 66 and Gold Coast also picked up former second round draft pick Harrison Wigg from Adelaide.

• Darcy Lang put a serious wedge in the Gary Ablett to Geelong deal by choosing Carlton over Gold Coast but by close of play tomorrow, Ablett will still find his way to the Cats.

Freo got pick 2

Suns got Weller & pick 41

Shows how desperate they are to get people who want to be there.

That pick swap is horrendous. My god.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
