  • Melbourne folded like cheap furniture against FC. We should ■■■■■■■ smash them.
  • Gawn must be rolling on the floor laughing at Bellchambers today.
  • Phillips needs to come in to provide more of a contest around the ground for Gawn.
  • I’d consider two rucks against Gawn.
  • May and Lever were apparently alright against Carlton. What do we do there? If we roll with the same forwards and play keep kicking it in long and high those two will eat us for breakfast.
  • Phillips gets a look in as already mentioned, TBC needs a hand against Gawn who is a match winner.
  • Who plays on Petracca? He’s in career best form and I reckon if we stop him having an impact we should win.
  • He’s (Tracktor) a worry, one of the best players in the league atm on form. If he gets a worry let him go head to head with STRINGAR.
  • Bringing in Ambrose is a must. He can play either on Tom McDonald or on Petracca.
  • Concede the ruck, we need someone to go with gawn around the ground.
  • The ruck - Oh dear we are in trouble against Gawn no matter what.
  • Just make sure we nail these flogs and silence the media’s love affair with Petracca.
  • Gawn will have 90 hitouts with 80 to a direct target.
  • Gawn will tear Bellchambers two new ones without breaking a sweat.
  • Who’s a better matchup for Petracca: Conor or Ambrose?
  • We probably need to put extra time into Petracca and Oliver. None of our mids appear to be big enough to stand up to those players and they will get silver service from Gawn.
  • The biggest problem is the ruck. Gawn is going to be a massive problem, not just in the hitouts but around the ground.
  • Basically our best 22 is available bar Joe this week
  • Petracca are not in Fyfe’s league
  • Matchups:
  • Petracca vs Heppell could be interesting or Ambrose comes in.
  • Oliver vs Parish
  • Salem vs Fantasia
  • Brayshaw vs McGrath
  • Viney vs Shiel
  • May vs McKernan

A not so subtle attempt to inject their main sponsor into the discussion ?

There's a lot going on in this sentence. Isn't Stringer playing forward?

I think they're worried about Gawn, and Petracca.?

I have feeling Oliver could have a day out against Essendon, this isn't based on anything in particular but Oliver has proven he hasn't lost his ability to find the ball.

Petracca is turning heads now, which means the tag will comes. Instead of dragging the tagger away from the ball and playing Trac in the forward line I'd like to see him say to Goodwin, "leave them to me" and back himself to beat the tag.

He needs to be tested.   To grow.

Id love it if they tried to put Parish on Oliver. He'd run amok.

I thought the same. I think we look good in match ups, surprisingly so.

Anthony William Watson McDonald-Tipungwuti - Is he playing, he's the only bloke on Essendons' list who I think can torch us. Last I heard he is injured?

And there's your answer if you've ever been curious as to what the plural of Petracca is. Still not clear however if intended as plurale tantum or an irregular plural though. Anyone know if Trac has a brother on our list? Maybe an easy mistake: I'm pretty confident that we have the most ever brothers on our list with brothers by number playing in the AFL.

Doesnt matter Skuit.

As has already been pointed out, neither of them are in Fyfes league.

But as a combination they might be.

Wagner are not in Fyfe's league.

they're obsessed with gawn's ruck dominance, but i reckon this one could be a key part of actual bomberland thinking; gawn's aerobic capacity is the biggest thing they need to contend, as his ability to push back when the oppo ruck is stranded in the middle of the ground is a huge part of his arsenal

please let oliver go head-to-head with parish

it'll be interesting to see who heppell goes to as along with smith he's definitely the most defensively-minded of their mid rotations; viney v shiel could be a fun watch too

their forwards are my biggest concern - walla, fantasia, townsend, stringer with mckernahan as the get out is a zippy and mobile forward line plus smith and parish rotating thru there...i just don't know about our match-ups for them...

they only started really bombing it into their f50 in the last quarter i thought; we started doing it - when we could get our hands on the ball - midway thru the second

it could be a good game or an absolute horror show

I must admit I have become a bit of an opposition forum lurker from time to time, I find it really interesting to hear what people think of the Dees from the opposition supporter perspective.  And to think I used to be young and cool!

Surprisingly the bombers fans on the forums are some of the least arrogant and most pragmatic of the bunch.  At least in my experience from the last couple of seasons.  Last week 98% of Carlton supporters thought they were going to [censored] us, 1% thought they would beat us is a close one and 1% thought they'd lose, which was surprising for a team that hadn't really shown much.

Anyway, as has been alluded to, Their Bellchambers is our Oscar McDonald.  Getting a pasting over there.  I can't remember him being great but I can't remember him being awful either??

Yes but which of the Fyfes? Or do the other Fyfes play in the WAFL? That would explain it.

I'm surprised they're not more confident. They killed us with run on the G last year and I can see the same thing happening again.

Agreed, they're usually a pretty arrogant bunch at the best of times. Their midfield is certainly smaller but it's much quicker than ours. Hoping the additions of Langdon and Tomlinson will help balance this out.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
