It's very clear that our work-rate is poor, question is why?

bigger fish to fry but yes

Nah A lot of rubbish threads offering nothing being created. It's ok to be angry and we have good reason, but a lot of the crap threads that have been started are just rants.

I agree with most of what you say mono, there are potential leaders in the group but they have achieved nothing in a football sense yet...so they don't have the runs on the board. Leadership is as much about the perceptions of those you lead as it is about having the quality. If you don't have credibility it makes leadership very difficult.

I will be F^&%ing amazed. It would depend on what the win looked like.

Well said. Put this on everyone's desk/locker etc

I get that we will miss targets, and spill marks because some players are not up to standard. I get that some of our kids will fail under physical and mental pressure often when the heat is on. I get that our midfield is at least 2 years away from being able to even compete with even the middle tier mids. I even put up with losing most one on one contests. I don't get our failure to run...both ways. It is an absolute fundamental. If you can't or don't make the contest you are screwed. If the fitness levels have been addressed and the game plan is solid and I believe that it is the energy and resources of the club need to go into why we have a football team that has a losing psyche. Failing to run is a sure sign that the belief and faith within the group is low. The issue of failing to run was an issue through 2012. A lack of "fitness" seemed to be the reason that the educated gave for this. Perhaps fitness was part of it, but it appears that there are other issues which may be less tangible. Whatever it is it needs addressing now before the club enters an abyss from which it cannot escape.

Yes Neeld has inspired me. Do i think Neeld will have the courage to face the reality of what he was part of on Sunday? Yes I do. Do i think Neeld will be able to diagnose the physical failings of our footy team and game plan on Sunday? Yes I do. Do I think that Neeld himself will be able to diagnose the mental issues that prevent the MFC from performing at it's optimum in one week? No.

How many MFC players are of AFL standard
jabberwocky replied to Dees2014's topic in Melbourne Demons
I dont think that's the point (op), the question is more about who is willing to work their arse off for 120mins? Who is ready to lift thier heads and keep running when the opposition score a few against us? The psyche of the team needs addressing. We continue to play like losers. -
Leave the bloke alone, he has a fair point.

A Couple of On Field Questions For Neeld
jabberwocky replied to Forest Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the question of "Why did we not work hard enough?" would cover it And if we conclude that we are as fit as Port then the answer becomes less tangible and relates to the mindset of the players. -
Positive suggestions/ideas for Mark & the boys??
jabberwocky replied to Demon Dynasty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Find out why our players fail to run, guard space and opponents and provide options for thier team-mates. That should fix it. -
Admittedly I had to watch the game on my mobile screen but this is also how I saw it. Concerns are that it was Round 1 of a season of redemption and players were unwilling or unable to run forward and back with any conviction or they are playing the wrong game plan to the wrong opposition. Either way it appears that at this stage no-one has any clear answers.

Today shouldnt be tolerated and it won't. The team should have been "up" and they weren't. They failed to work hard for each other and failed to execute a plan. Next week they get the chance to respond. Yes I'm sick of next week too but it's all we have.

Best and most creative midfielder in my lifetime.

Channel 7 is a good option

Doesn't have the tools to play a defensive game. Doesn't have the tools to be a largely offensive mid either. Little hurt factor. Like a few others we let go, not equipped for AFL footy.

Rather see him get the footy and use his big hoof.
