WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
The whole thread says this...? "That's about as fickle as the Demonland thread on Sam Frost. He went from someone that wasn't worth a trade (we'd pick him up in the PSD for nothing) to someone who was better than James Frawley." Or is that just what BB has summarised as the thinking of the group? BB's point was to equate the silly people on the saints forum to Demonlanders in general, perhaps even including himself. Perhaps we could just agree that all footy forum users as a group are fickle.

i didn't think so. No "Frost is better than Frawley". The truth is such a hindrance when asserting superiority over the peoples of Demonland. The grimy little groupthinkers.

Who were those fickle and silly group-thinkers? Can you show me a quote?

I too think he is perfectly suited to being the best player of the modern era.

If we get Petracca he won't come with the maturity and dare I say it the IQ of some of the other high picks. He is 18 years of age and most of us at that age had a fair bit of growing up to do. Thankfully I think that our club has the system and personnel to be able to guide a kid like this.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
It seems to me that the draft runs deepish in terms of mids. Later in the draft in other years you tended to get players with questionable disposal etc down the order. It seems that there is a group of really solid mids around aour 40 and our possible 53 picks. Of course my expect opinion is based on highlights and phatom draft profiles. Is there anyone with a more informed view?

Tyler Roos
I don't think it hurts to have family connections at a footy club, as long as decisions are made wisely and nepotism isn't in play. If Tyler Roos is believed to have a lot of upside and is worth a rookie spot, then I hope we get him. I have coached my sons and while sometimes it has it challenges I can impart information to them with intimate knowledge of all of their strengths and weaknesses. I am sure this has made them much better footballers and has ultimately helped the teams. Roos is a shrewd character when it comes to this sort of stuff, if he is selected as a rookie there will be no nepotism. If he gets a game it will be because he has earnt it.

WELCOME BACK TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - NEVILLE JETTA
Jetta also possesses a good footy brain, strength, wins one on one and has the ability to size up an option quickly. Is miles ahead of the other 2 on these attributes. He is more than just a "trier".

The official I love Dom Tyson thread
I think there is a lot of Jones in Viney. Jonesy used to (and still does) win a lot of ball close in and neutralise contests without getting the footy out. When Viney does get through he often chooses the most attacking option, as Jones did. As Viney's games sense improves he will start to get the footy going our way and learn to back out of traffic as Jonesy did. And Dom Tyson is just what the doctor ordered.

Jay Kennedy-Harris
Steering away from comparison as they generally don't turn out too well, he is well above average in a few areas and I have been saying since the start of the season that he looks like a mid. His ability to take the ball at speed. His lateral movement and ability to instantaneously change direction. His ability to size up the short option or handpass instantly. Whilst he is not built the same, Rioli is a bloke with these attributes (but I am not comparing them).

Kid is a great talent. His ability to take the ball at speed is already elite. Class midfielder developing nicely.

Jack Watts
Not quite mate, I said I thought he would end up like James Hird. I also suspected that the club was instructing him to stay away from packs, clearly got that wrong too. It does highlight that Jack was not ready to play senior footy. He should not have been rewarded with selection for playing that style of game. We may still be paying the price.
