Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
jabberwocky replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not that it necessarily proves a thing, she was spoken to before the call went to air to attempt verify her bona fides....and that is according to afl.com What exactly was established we don't know. It sounds, feels and smells genuine. -
Nathan Jones was very impressive in his first year. won a lot of possessions, he got thir and fourth year blues when he tried to play over-attacking footy taking blokes on and trying to pinpoint passes into the corridor. Let's not revise history. Jones showed a lot from game 1. NB: He is not a superstar either.

Wow, you sure you have the right bloke?

Neeld came in with a Malthouse attitude and had neither the credibility or the ability to communicate effectively to have his ideas executed. It is a shame, some of the ideas were right but the execution deplorable.

The only reason I can disagree with this article is because it is about my club. It is fairly logical and rational but would lead to the end of my footy club. Therefore I must protest.

Jack Watts - More Discussion (for those who haven't had enough)

Look at where his eyes are when the ball hits the hands. -
President wants mongrel in our culture

Good words now lets see it. Start at the selection table. -
So you have been in furious agreement with me. Watts represents a half hearted football team and is part of a list of which half is AFL standard. The team is this way because of half baked recruiting and half arsed development. We reward mediocrity with a place in our mediocre football team in which a mediocre effort will result in you being picked next week. Yeah I am furious at Watts and at the club for all it has done to him and with him, he represents all of the above.
-
I wonder why Jack Watts wasn't tagged?
-
Those half efforts and the consistent running away from the contests are an embarassmentt. They represent all that is bad about the club. Jack Watts plays football on Jack Watts' terms. "I will attack the footy if there is a good chance I will win it, otherwise I will peel off sideways or backwards. That way I don't lose the contest....." that sums up Watts' footy philosophy. It is a crap way to play football and will get (and has got) the club nowhere if it continues to tolerate it.

Others played poorly, but on intensity and effort Jack was the 22nd player out there from what I saw. Yes I have an agenda.
-
No and no.
-
He is playing as a loose man in the back line, that is where the ball has been most of the time as a designated kicker. IDGAF about his possession count. He has been deplorable. Will only play footy on his terms. Will not put himself in a position to win a contest. If this club is serious about becoming competitive and mixing it up with the big boys he does not play next week.
-
That was absloutely pathetic and typical. One half effort at paddling the ball away then actively avoiding the next hard ball on the ground. Sums his career up to date.
-
Should be ommitted this week. You can excuse players for having a bad day, but you don't compromise your intensity at the footy. Neil Craig...make a f%$^ing statement and drop him.

I suppose I could have paraphrased all of the opinions in the thread from 2009 but I think it better that the opinions are presented in their original form. The problems with Jack Watts' game haven't changed since he played his first games at Casey. We now have answers to some of the questions we were asking. I look forward to moving on from discussing this bloke.

It's been four years now. This player represents all that has been wrong with the club. No fire, little drive and no responsibility.

I noted this attitude also. Some acknowledgement of personal responsibility as a player would have been appropriate. Anyhow I'm interested now in what we can get and what that player will bring to the club. -
You don't select the senior side by any chance?

That's step 2, can't keep it if you haven't got it. -

Step 1. Win clearances and contested possession. Thats what it boils down to. -

I am happy with an AFL approved dictatorship. They control the draft, they control the fixtures, they have all the contacts and they have the big pile of money. I think we have run out of alternatives. Really we are already at the mercy of the AFL.
