  1. Rumour's abound, and a player may be sacked but not for PEDs...
  2. The MFC will have the brief in hand will it not? If the chance is good that the court will rule in our favour then it is rational and pragmatic to walk away from the negotiating table entirely... Let the legal people make the call.
  3. That's very whucking interesting.
  4. "The Demons have engaged former Federal Court judge Ray Finkelstein to lead their defence and their view is that they have a very good case. Perhaps in legal terms they are correct even though their stated excuses are so so flimsy, irrelevant and in some cases childish. Perhaps, in the name of political expediency, their punishment will be mitigated." This is the relevant part of the article and the conclusion that I have begun to draw. The rest is just Caro rambling. What matters is what will matter in a court of law not a court of journos. I couldn't give a stuff about her opinion.
  5. I understand the sentiment but we don't need to be pragmatic here, the AFL will not want this to get inside a court. This is one time when we should stand firm and not negotiate, that is unless there is some physical evidence that exists out there that will damn us.
  6. Geez there are some moronic opinions beeing thrown around. Fear is no way to run a club. Values seep down from the top...I want to see a fight if needed. I have enjoyed watching our boys sparring with the AFL and the bi-play. If we have no case to answer it will be a vindication of the tough stance taken by the club against the allegations. If they charge one of us we fight. You don't want our players to shirk a contest, well neither should our management.
  7. Anecdotal evidence that DEPS have been used by some Demonlanders for some time. (thread.. case in point)
  8. It's a mess, too messy for court in my opinion. I just can't see a fight in court happening.
  9. Clever.. Thanks for the reports keep them coming
  10. I would be very surprised given the "no win" situation each party finds itself in if there wasn't some dialogue occurring to prevent the matter getting to court. A guilty plea from an MFC employee or two is the best outcome for the AFL. It would vindicate their investigation whilst also being satisfied that "actual systematic tanking didn't take place". I took McLardy's statement as a sign of unwillingness to offer up a sacrificial lamb. I then could be reading too much into things.
  11. I wonder if there is some negotiating going on behind closed doors or at least an attempt to negotiate by the AFL. I thought McLardy's reference to defend the employees and staff of the club poignant.
  12. Thats cos they got it more
  13. Dunn looks soiled and I think he'll have a very good year. Was he paired together with Viney in the drills?
  14. that F&^*^%g "c" word...
  15. Just dumb, FMD.
  16. Forgot an important "g"
  17. I wonder if they invented Mayannaise
  18. From memory Bailey was asked to clarify his comments and everyone moved on. The Mclean comments got the ball rolling. Without Connolly's remark we would have a vibe and a coach playing players out of position. That is in the absence of any other evidence that may have been uncovered that isn't public.
  19. Yes, but I still wonder if that is really the only piece of evidence that gave the investigation any momentum. At this stage we don't know all of what is in the report but with the info we have at this point but the quip delivered in the vault is corroborated, contains a directive to lose and contains a threat if taken on face value. Still at this stage we are speculating on a lot.
  20. The club f$%ked this up on several levels. Laying the blame at the feet of any individual is futile. Be it McClean, Bailey, Scwab, Connolly or the media. The AFL felt the need to investigate this because of the rumblings coming from various angles, if they did not Caro would have made sure that there would have been an outcry. I still wonder how the AFL are going to make anything stick. Be that as it may, I wonder if any of this would have been properly investigated had it not been for Connolly's quip.
  21. Where am I? Oh this thread Carry on..
  22. Sorry didn't read the fine print, never do
