  1. Only based on gut feel, for me Riley has some confidence about him. could be an attacking run with type who is hard at it. Reckon McDonald is improving each year and is starting to work out his own game and know his limitations like Jetta.
  2. Geez he looked a did ringer for his brother as a junior, the athletic, loping big guy. now is a dead ringer for Barry Hall in looks. haven't seen enough to judge but as an 18 year old he showed more football ability than I have ever seen in Jack Fitzpatrick. happy to swap !!
  3. he has good skills no doubt but his slight frame doesn't allow him to hunt the ball like others do. he tends to 'strike' and play the dangerous outside runner game, rather than grind away. Despite a poor year he has plenty of good seasons backed up before that. Roos can see we are so slow and has brought in 3 players in Lumumba, Garlett and Frost who have plenty of line breaking speed. all could potentially start round one.
  4. Who knows lads. Kreuzer was clearly streets ahead of Cotchin at the 2 year mark. even then its too early to call. Wines has had a cracking start but reckon if we start winning the clearances, jimmy will come into his own. Where was Robbie Gray 2 years ago? were people all over to trade for him? some work it out at different stages. He doesn't look like a bust to me.
  5. looking at his stats since he started, we can expect Garlett to get on average about 12 possessions a game, 1.7 goals and 3.4 tackles. Roos may want him to increase his possessions to help othesr increase their goal tally. i.e inject some pace around the ground a bit.
  6. Yeah not sure any club does NOT subscribe to the process of picking the player they think will be the best in a few years.
  7. Wow. Given Roos hesitancy to go for talls in the draft due to the different TAC cup rules some poster alluded to (no double teaming etc) that suggests we really must see something in McCartin. We would then have 3 key forwards, as well as talls in Howe and Watts and Pederson that can play forward. If we get McCartin then it would be obvious to throw the kitchen sink at the best available mid in free agency next year.
  8. My mail is it is not good news. hope its wrong. Trengove when up and running was a class player.
  9. Carved it up ? meaning a lot of sheep dogging and possessions under no real pressure.
  10. Its intriguing that on demonland, Toumpas is a big thumbs down so far and Salem is a thumbs up, despite Salem averaging 6.7 possessions in his 12 games. Now granted some of that is skewed by being the sub but he passed 10 possessions once !! Toumpas at least did that 12 out of 18 games. I think both have talent but Toumpas will be the one Roos will be asking to step up in his third year, as he is now out of the nursery.
  11. yes was hoping after last year we would be able to get one or two more.
  12. We need to shed some skin and get rid of Watts. What the hell have we got to lose? I mean seriously. watching a skilful player who can't lay tackles consistently, who is just ordinary one on one is getting too hard. He is a fair example of why we keep losing, would be better for both parties to part ways. happy to trade for steak knives or hopefully a bit better.
  13. Sydney just got a gun junior for pick 17 or 18. that's an amazing freebie. will happen next year as well.
  14. Frawley going to Hawthorn is vomit in my mouth stuff. As if the Hawks don't own us enough, they can just pluck Frawley with zero cost in terms of trade. How on earth do the AFL organise working groups around equalisation whilst they allow top end talent to move each year to clubs up the top of the ladder? I could see this problem from day one. So we meet Hawthorn in 2015, yet another year where we no we have zero chance of winning. just zero. so so deflating. Its now just an ARMS RACE between Hawthorn and Sydney and the rest can help develop their players of tomorrow. how to stuff up a great game.
  15. Well first of all we are about to lose Frawley. We have only Dawes as the experienced key forward who can hold a position, so we do need back up ideally with players who can play both ends. and Sam Frost and Merret can spend time at both end of the ground. Merret has surprised me in his improvement, is a big body with mongrel. we need that. Frost I just have to trust the judgement of the football dept, but if he is like his brother, then get him. he is the young shining light at Collingwood. good things about all 3 is they attack the footy and we need that.
  16. Frawley is better than 8 out of the last 10 pick 3s. wonder what he is basing that on? if he compares that to the Buddy compo then he is missing the point.
  17. His brother has been impressive at Collingwood. Hope he can be the same. anyone seen him play ?
  18. I've been told the deal is done for Sam Frost to Melbourne. Source if his dad. I don't know what we have agreed to trade.
  19. Rohans kicking in the qualifying final was about the worst I have seen.
  20. I think coming into his 3rd year, Roos and co will have an expectation he start to fullfill his potential and become a senior player. would like to see him get 10 plus game and start getting more of the ball,
  21. Not worth pick 3 - are you kidding? why do people continually overrate draft picks. Lets look at the last 10 pick 3s and tell me how many are better than Frawley? I would say Griffen and Martin (who every club appear to reject last year), with Tysons one good year putting him up for discussion. He easily beats the rest, can take key forwards and comprehensively beat them. People somehow think pick 3 would be a guaranteed star, that Frawley is sh1te and we're getting over compensated. This is far from the truth. I think if people were truthful and this was a normal trade, they would baulk at Frawley for pick 3. 2004 Ryan Griffen 2005 Xavier Ellis 2006 Lachie Hansen 2007 Chris Masten 2008 Stephen Hill 2009 Dustin Martin 2010 Sam Day 2011 Dom Tyson 2012 Lachlan Plowman 2013 Jack Billings
  22. Despite Jamar being chosen almost every week ahead of them ?
  23. Potentially was Leigh Matthews, Wayne Carey and Gary Ablett rolled into one. I too have never seen him play.
