  1. nice to think but geez that reminds me of the Scully situation who looked professional right to the end. even hung around further than the end of season, even Schwab seemed to think he was staying but ultimately left. contract talks tell the tale surely. he won't talk to Melbourne.
  2. Hogan comes in last game, kicks 3 in the first quarter and does a hammy. Viney has a terrific end to the season. We beat Port over there by 10 points We lose to hawthorn by 70 plus points who go into 2nd gear after quarter time. Tapscott maintains his spot in the first 22 for last 6 games and Blease makes it to 3rd emergency bythe last game. Vince gets bored of the lack of TV coverage and shaves his head and grows a long beard. Jamar gets another long term injury and misses most of the pre-season. Paul Roos stops defending Jack Watts and begrudgingly agrees with Leigh Matthews and Lloyd. Frawley holds off talks until last day of free agent trading,
  3. No real harm in a first year player getting a taste then going back to the ressies for a while
  4. Roos doesn't tinker much with the team. You would think an in form Tapscott could push ahead of McKenzie. even a fit Blease can't get an emergency spot. Looks like an honest but slow team.
  5. Cheney was chastised by our supporters for his lack of kicking skills. his kicking is average.
  6. I know this may sound sacrilegious, but the descriptions and stats don't excite me. he sounds speculative. there is just few purely outside players who survive in todays game. doesn't mean he won't make it but you need to be pretty special and also have the body to survive AFL footy. don't get me wrong I will follow with interest like everyone else, but even then he will take a few years to develop by the sounds of it.
  7. Not quite sure it will work again. I think they looked at the high picks last year and saw some light bodied midfielders, exactly the type we picked in the past and failed. If they can see a Judd or ablett who is 18 then why not take him. Also it's a year later and guys like toumpas will be in year 3 like Tyson with Salem Kennedy year 2 etc so they've spent some time in the nursery as roos puts it. The Tyson trades also may not be there this time. They are pretty rare.
  8. are you guys serious about this. a non shepherd means he is leaving ? he lead up all day and took plenty of marks. Watts signed a new contract and misses shephards, tackles and lacks intent at times week in week out. Frawley was playing as a key forward and was racking up the km's
  9. FWIW frawleys management is telling the hawks $650k. Source I have is from within the hawks footy dept. and hawks aren't prepared to pay, So it appears he is hawking himself around. interestingly Nathan fyfe is asking $800k. This person didn't mention the hawks attitude to that one.
  10. I noticed late in the game vineyard tired and his kicking suffered. Before that he was pretty good and combative.
  11. Imagine if Roos could repeat the additions to our midfield like he did last year. i.e another batch like Tyson, Vince, Cross. a nice thought.
  12. I think we underestimate the defensive pressure and combativeness Frawley provides up forward. many here bag him when he doesn't kick goals but he is important to assist Dawes up forward. I question whether Gawn can provide anything near that.
  13. Really? im not so sure. his kicking on Saturday was average, his first quarter entries into the forward line to teammates who had their opponents done for, was sub standard. Still deserves to be in the team as he gives 100% and is an effective team player but his kicking recently has disappointed me.
  14. Sounds promising for players like Riley, Michie and McKenzie. Anyone else get the feeling Strauss has little hope of renewing his contract. Uninspiring reviews and stats week after week. VFL Player Review - Round Six
  15. Yet there are still people on here who want him dropped.
  16. Byrnes is in because he does the non negotiables. He affects contests better than others such as blessed Strauss toumpas at this stage. They need to be able to do the non negotiables better then will go past him. Unfortunately Byrnes offensive game is limited these days at afl level.
  17. Yes its a fair point and maybe when Roos is saying they are coaching at 80%, its some of these things they may leave for now so they can teach blokes like Pederson, running patterns, blocking, where to position, all the big basics they don't know how to do. It's a feather in Roos cap this bloke has improved when almost everyone on demonland had written him off completely.
  18. Disagree. Kicking it 30 metres to 2, 3, 4 hawks all by themselves all night gives me no understanding of his improved kicking. His strength is one on one contested marking and clarkson is using him as he lacks key backs. He aged on but the very few times he was one out he was just ok giving away some goals.
  19. Thought he was exceptional tonight. Cannot remember him missing a target playing a pendlebury type game. Used his speed. Where has that been. Timed his releases once his opponent had committed. Also went forward and had his opponent left cold and should have added a goal or two but we couldn't get it to him unmanned in the inside 50. Just add tackling and we may have something.
  20. Ours looks like it was designed by a committee. Like a lot of corporate branding, ends up throwing everything in rather thasn keeping it simple. The colours are good though.
  21. be interested if you can get ANY support to re-draft Juice. Good luck !!
  22. There might be an agreed settlement if that's the case but he couldn't expect a full pay out. He would retire a millionaire so we have done a lot for him personally if even just paying him handsomely. But geez the dees seem to have had every issue imaginable happen to them.
  23. Really? What have Pederson and Fitzy done even in this pre-season to make you think they can play a key position forward role once the real thing starts? Howe is definitely a third tall option and a good one and lock him in for that role but only if we get blokes playing the primary key position roles with some effect.
  24. Clark could be the fittest injured player in the afl. Ran more laps than Steve moneghetti in his prime.
  25. I would be happier to see Dawes most of all on the park round 1, but you think he would start at casey as he has played what part of a game?
