  1. I remember being astounded why a team with so many young gun midfielders with first choice in the mini draft, then went for an outside midfielder instead of a possible gun power forward. defied logic.
  2. He reminds me of max gawn, without the beard.
  3. Hang on fyfe was big enough to take a lot if contested marks at full forward. He would have been a slightly shorter jack watts. Different to being a short very light mid like parish. I will be surprised if they take parish, or they must think he is an out and out gun with pace skills etc. The combine suggests not.
  4. his highlights package looks very similari to Nath Fyfe at the same age. i.e taking high marks, some contests. gut feel is he looks like a competitor.
  5. I would have though our first aim is to get a full year out of Sam Frost and see where his best position is. He was played forward early and was quite effective I thought. Had pace and toughness.
  6. he's right about Carlisle. Why aren't we going after him? Hawks are full of key backs and now making a big play for him. do we think we are all good to go with key backs ? geeeeeeez.
  7. Think your wrong on Kent. If you base it on possessions, then Salem last year had done 'bugger all" but you could see he had it. Kent has pace, foot skills and mongrel. he has the attributes to be a line breaking half forward/midfielder. something we are desperate for. just need to get his body right.
  8. we should make them wait if we are asking for a pick in return. its not like life won't go on without Melksham. don't see why we should be screwed over by Essendon.
  9. Thought he looked vanilla till that game against GWS. I think he shows great intensity, can take a grab and decent skills. nothing standout but looks worthy of a contract. next year will be very interesting to see if he can have a true breakout year.
  10. Vanenderg also adds a point of difference with his size, but also he has some toe about him. not lightning but more like Brayshaw, has some zip.
  11. yes I remember. he was sensational. had speed, size and Viney like attack on the ball. reminded me of Josh Kennedy. I think he is also a naturally good decision maker, doesn't hesitate and choose first option pretty well. Another pre-season, trim down a bit, and who knows how good he could be.
  12. Why would we want Freeman. I hear mostly negative reports of under performing and soft. sounds like the old 'we'll get something decent but you get 2 NQRs' trick!!
  13. I was impressed with his pace and aggressiveness at the contest early. Would like to see him get a full year under development of Roos, who seems to be very good with key backs. I think the balance is right with he and Oscar fighting for a key back spot. and both can go forward as well. His brother is very good. can't see why we couldn't develop him to be just as effective.
  14. He really wants to stay, but his efforts don't always say that. Let's face reality. he doesn't want it badly enough. and too many years have passed now to hang onto that hope.
  15. have to be knocked out of this finals series first. can see them making the Grand final again.
  16. Not only with the Dees being poor but the the AFL making up new rules on the fly makes this game difficult to watch sometimes. What a disgrace they fined us and let North improve their position by tanking. They have actually rubber stamped them leaving half their side out.
  17. Spot on, but the list is much longer than that. How about Will Langford who played 1 games in his first 3 years. he was showing some good form for Box Hill but had limitations (like Toumpas but probably different limitations) then finally got his chance. limited player but they didn't throw him out to dry. he showed great professionalism, just like Toumpas has. We can't thorw players out because of the past. to me Toumpas has the skillsets and know how, but isn't physically ready yet.
  18. Too early to tell but my gut feel is that I'm really liking the last two years of recruiting and hoping we can reproduce another lot of players like Brayshaw, Tyson, Salem and vandenburg. I also noted Nathan Jones rated Petracca the most exciting on our list ahead of Hogan. in 2013, it was important we nailed pick 9 in Salem, and I think most are happy with that. I would like to see how he compared with other recruiters from 2013 ... The cats are the front runners in recruiting and got Darcy Lang (pick16), Jarrad Jansen (pick 36), Jake Kolodjashnij (pick 41) - after that it was rookie elevations for them. 1 1 Boyd, Thomas Thomas Boyd Greater Western Sydney Eastern Ranges TAC Cup 1 2 Kelly, Josh Josh Kelly Greater Western Sydney[a] Sandringham Dragons TAC Cup 1 3 Billings, Jack Jack Billings St Kilda Oakleigh Chargers TAC Cup 1 4 Bontempelli, Marcus Marcus Bontempelli Western Bulldogs Northern Knights TAC Cup 1 5 Kolodjashnij, Kade Kade Kolodjashnij Gold Coast Launceston TSL 1 6 Scharenberg, Matthew Matthew Scharenberg Collingwood Glenelg SANFL 1 7 Aish, James James Aish Brisbane Lions Norwood SANFL 1 8 McDonald, Luke Luke McDonald North Melbourne[c] Werribee VFL 1 9 Salem, Christian Christian Salem Melbourne[d] Sandringham Dragons TAC Cup 1 10 Freeman, Nathan Nathan Freeman Collingwood Sandringham Dragons TAC Cup 1 11 Sheed, Dom Dom Sheed West Coast[e] Subiaco WAFL 1 12 Lennon, Ben Ben Lennon Richmond Northern Knights TAC Cup
  19. Sadly he seemed the only player giving 100% in the first half.
  20. requests a trade to a side with Lonergan, Taylor and co. are Are Geelong and Hawthorn hoarding all the backmen in the league? for once can't they go to the doggies, saints or us ?
  21. Jeremy Howe is better than Robbo. He can tackle and jump higher.
  22. JKH has responded well after being down on possessions last week. you would like to see him do it again though. Salem has to come in now after 3 week in the magoos.
  23. well at least we are improving. It used to be ... HANDBOOK ON HOW TO BEAT MELBOURNE: Turn up.
