I think we underestimate the quality of GWS.. Great comeback & never say die attitude hopefully beginning with similar positions in practice games.. Cant ask for anymore than that .. Sure some poor periods but remember great sides find a way to win!

Not saying Hogan will leave..... What's the point of having a draft system/salary cap as an equalisation to a so called competition, if clubs who finish near the bottom which happens when you have 18 teams only to see talented kids leave after 3 seasons.. Compensation is another early pick which is a lottery .. Football the world game allows you to profit from selling talent & then buying other players.. ..... Afl you can't have it both ways!

Afl need to find a solution were smaller clubs can play to smaller crowds & make money like Geelong do on their home ground.. That's how you get clubs controlling their own destiny financially .. current Stadium deals only benefit interstate & larger clubs ....

Honestly .. Can't believe these posts..Second year player & playing second practice game & people are questioning his marking & kicking accuracy.. It's as stupid as people saying we're looking great from 3 wins in practice games..

End of this season not that bad as stated in other posts mgr wants to maximise his value... But afl just can't sit back & have a so called equalisation comp with early picks only to see them leave to a stronger club after hes been developed! People bag the English premier league but smaller clubs can develop players & sell them which allows them to buy other players to strengthen their squads etc early draft picks don't compensate & are always risky as they may fail..

Very easy to blame Lyon for choice of coaches. It shows how bad our footy clubland when it continued to want to be saved by such a strong media person & ex champion. You can't take 1/2 measures & expected a great result you can't be 1/2 in a footy club ... Club totally @ fault!

Not great sinking the boots into a player based on injury... Calf issues are hard to get rid off & history shows they keep on re occurring.. Lets not forget he come to our club in our darkest days & attracting A graders was pie in the sky stuff... Though need to support our players!

Tried to do the right thing & invest his own $$$$ ..but another band aid approach after the failed merger were as Hawks went on to build a strong club....

He played 10yrs @ the club & deserves it ..though a frustrating player & didn't fulfill his potential its a reflection of were our club was at the time & was found out @ freo! How many employees get long service leave after 10yrs who aren't good workers?

Well done to the MFC.. Let's all be positive they will draft the right character traits required to play afl @ the level required... There are no guarantees in the draft but I think the club has the right people to make the right choices & it's clear the foundations laid by Roos & co will give a clear direction as to the types of players needed...

Players choosing the club they want to be traded to.. Just another form of free agency... Afl need to change the rules, when a player who wants to leave theyb should be traded to a club which gives the best trade deal... If player wants to choose a club of choice wait unti free agency ... Can't have it both ways! ... Trelor has been in the game for 5 mins & is demanding which club how is that right???

Agree free agency is hurting the game & attracting A graders to big clubs or in still premiership clock mode & players who choose a club to be traded at is a claytons free agency ...... So the exact mechanism to help with equalisation sees the same players leaving bottom clubs at lions exodus.. One could argue with all the $$ & members, facilities the pies have 1 flag since 2000... So no guarantees

Perhaps $$$ is not everything ... Move on people ... Afl have a real issue as all A grader free agents a re moving to bigger clubs not a great for the comp .. If that's what you wanna call this fixturing league!

Great character .... These are the players who you can build success.. Putting club & other players before him... Can't ask for anymore & MfC should show his interview to all existing or potential players!

Pretty spot on... Though Hawks will say that they have operated under some conditions & lost Buddy with no compensation...... Issue is the afl & players association want it both ways..a draft & cap as equalisation & free agency & fixturing which rewards successful clubs ....can't have it both ways!

I respect our history & love the club & a 18 yr member.... But we need to stop going to records we set over 50yrs ago as something to hang our hat on... Respect & that's all... Our club needs to make history'

Great we have the history but facts are Hawks have won 13 flags since 1961 vs us 1 in 64....We Have played in 2 GF since & flogged in both, 2 periods of success with Nortthey & Daniher..... I'm 51 & my best mate has seen 11 flags .... Enough said!
