  1. Agree ... As Roos said kid is 21 & playing his second year in the toughest position.. FFS expectations too high.. Many forwards have taken 4-5 seasons to become consistent good players... He's just another young player developing along with petracca, Oliver, etc etc..
  2. Well said... Mental illness impacts the community & can only wish he can manage that & football is secondary!
  3. The criticism by supporters & commentators is ridiculous.. Roos on open Mike said it well he's 21 playing he's 2nd year in the hardest position! All current full forwards took time to develop inc kicking accuracy eg Kennedy from WC, Hawkins etc etc ..
  4. Improvement is evident wit more wins & higher percentage.. Also in games with a chance against the better sides. Very young list who are playing in their 1st,2nd& 3rd yr.. Hogan only playing his second yr in the hardest position & expectations too high & ridiculous! Oliver, petracca,Tyson ,brayshaw,Viney, stretch, hunt.. Throw in the Macca brothers .. Our list is building depth .. Sure loses to Ess & blues are let downs but part of ups & downs of a young list . Our best footy is great as shown against the Hawks but need to close the gap on our lapses .. Another preseason or 2 will help .. Foundation there & Roosy & co have done a great job!
  5. Wow well done stating the obvious....2 teams outside the 8 playing 1 & 2 teams on the ladder who had everything to play for! The cats who have played finals last 10 yrs vs the youngest team in the afl who basically ran out of legs!
  6. Make that 10 of the last 12 ... But Who's counting . Afl equalisation policies working well!
  7. Not a real competition which should be home & away! People criticise the epl but they play each other twice & real home advantage is just that & many wins can be contributed to that. Afl has become a marketing competition all geared around tv ratings & compromises to suit the expanded teams... I don't see interstate teams giving up their right to host a home final & Geelong should not be any different! Understand larger crowd etc but Comp should be around the integrity of the finals system & ladder position benefits not gate takings., fancy hawthorn basically now playing on their home ground... Like Melb playing Saints twice at Etihadgiving saints 2 home ground advantage. Wouldn't happen in most leagues of Europe.
  8. Agree last 9 of 11 flags won by Hawks, cats & swans! Yep equalisation working well ..
  9. It's [censored] .. No advantage for geelong & about time afl rewarded home ground advantage .. This Comp is a compromise base around $$ rather than rearding teams like the cats who have a home ground!
  10. Geelong have finished 2nd & can host a final but not at their home ground! How is this fair & even more ridiculous play the Hawks at their home ground @ the mcg! So where's the advantage for the Cats??? When is the afl going to reward home ground advantage for finishing higher in the ladder???
  11. The expectations on our 1st & 2nd year players is ridiculous! He is just like any other young gun on our list who is playing the hardest position & will need time to develop & handle the position.
  12. So some want to hang hogan... He had a few passengers today!
  13. I'm frustrated like all & prob posted a negative .. But after listening to Roos presser ., he's on the money & said pure & simple young kids ran out of legs after Port game... Big month won 3 in a row.. Wins against Hawks, port & almost WC, 2 road trips. Another preason for our 1st & 2nd year players will help. We should feel confident going fwd as Roos said that young team has plenty of growth together for improvement... Throw in melcshem & few more trades should see further improvements!
  14. Richmond are losing by 105 pts & kicked 1 goal & it only in the 3rd qtr!
  15. What a disgraceful effort by our players to send of Roos with [censored] poor effort today .. They should publicly apologise to him & members & question what have they learnt from Roos in the last 3 yrs??
  16. Spot on! Yep the coaching told players to miss targets, miss goals, be second to the ball!
  17. Roos has done a great job & I don't think we realise how far back we were! Stabilised the playing group & help develop a foundation of culture required to play finals! Compare our wins & percentage from when he took over to now .. He's done his job now hopefuly Goodwin & co can take it to the next level!
  18. wow thats our back line if their kicking dosent improve....will never win a flag top teams defenders hit targets, question is though are the mids etc going to right positions?
  19. Cant believe anyone would question tyson/Salem deal.....Both are great pick ups barring injury/illness....
  20. Great to see the positive posts as usual by MFC supporters! Ugly win but a win is a win & this game dosent define our whole season! Turnovers looked poor but gotta ask yourself long season, just got back from a few road trips, young bodies etc. not making excuses but they are facts. Team just needs to bridge the gap between our great footy vs poor footy. We shouldnt discount that GC are far better than the 1st time we played them & credit needs to go to the way they played
  21. Positive outlook & need to be ., talent is there.. Poor footy played but we forget GC are playing much better than they were last time, WC game would have impacted on them .. Not making excuses for poor footy but you can only for reasons... Comp is s lot more even than most think for middle to lower clubs on the ladder
  22. So were expecting a 21 yo playing his second year of footy to be a match winner??? Apart from how many goals his kicked what are his other stats eg goal assists, marks, contested poss etc??
