  1. Hi, I can confirm the photo was taken in Perth.

  2. A reminder that when we played the Hawks, they were two games clear on top of the ladder. We started their downfall.

  3. Watching Goody on AFL 360, all I'm getting is, how the hell is Robinson on tv? I don't watch a lot of television, so don't have a lot to compare him to, but this bloke can barely speak. Asks the most mundane and banal questions. This hurts my brain. I actually feel dumber watching this.

  4. Or maybe we're just not chasing these players as hard as other clubs are. And it seems silly to bemoan players not asking to be traded to Melbourne when we've seen Lumumba, Melksham and now seemingly Hibberd ask to be traded to Melbourne in the last few years. They're not under 22 but they're clearly the players we have had discussions with. We've also seen Vince, Frost and Tyson traded in. We can't be involved in every trade. If the MFC is not mentioned in certain trades, I take that to mean that Mahoney and team have identified other priorities. We seem to get the players we chase, there is no evidence that we are being snubbed.

  5. Yep, really depends on how much he thinks is unders. I get the feeling young Laverde has a pretty good relationship with himself.

  6. It is definitely Victoria. I recognise one of the leaves on a tree to the left of the players.

  7. My 5 year old stepson went for Collingwood but midway thru last year he wanted to come with my family and I to Melbourne games and now is obsessed with the Dees and knows every player and number they wear and is forever wearing his Melbourne gear and his dream is to play for the mighty demons! He is obsessed with Garlett ( thinks they're cousins due to both being aboriginal) and loves Kent. Hopefully he lives his dream.

  8. at the end of the day Jake has been labeled a drug cheat because he is a professional athlete who took some substances and he cannot prove what they were, he is 100% responsible for what goes into his body, he didn't ask questions of the right people or make enough noise and he's bought this on himself. there are people who give talks about this stuff before players even get drafted, there is no excuse, regardless of political agendas or how badly run people think ASADA might be, you're responsible for what you take, if you can't prove it you wear whatever comes your way. having said that Jakes ban is over and i look forward to seeing him in the red and blue in 2017

  9. At the risk of stating the obvious, surely we would be looking at a Clarkson assistant that can bring intel about the Hawks game plan? His previous assistants have done well; Simpson, Beveridge and to a lesser extent Bolton. There are enough ex-Melb players at the Dorks we could snaffle: Neitz, Yze, Bruce to name a few.... Assistants are a great way to bring fresh new ideas into a club. Goodwin would know most of Egan's ideas, strategies if they have worked together. Maybe he rates Egan, and that is great but you can't do what Richmond have done and just bring in any old ex-player and hope that it works.

  11. What is with the masochistic, depressing commentary? For Christ sake, revel in the Bulldogs! A young, up and coming team showing up the Hawks on the big stage! This is a huge game in the context of AFL history and the commentators sound like they're drowning in sorrow.

  12. Whew! How good was that last 5 minutes? Don't often find myself barracking like a lunatic in neutral games, but my heart is fully committed to a Bulldogs win.

  13. This is a really simplistic, even ignorant comment, and whether it's deliberate or not, disingenuous. First of all, not all banned drugs are directly performance enhancing. For example, anything that enables better recovery after training or playing is in no way "performance enhancing", but clearly enables you to enhance your performance through more training. There are any number of masking agents that are banned that offer zero performance enhancement, but are banned for obvious reasons. Even some weight-loss products are banned, also for obvious reasons (just ask any cyclist) Same story with anything that "artificially" speeds up recovery from injury, which is one of the benefits of TB4, which is what the Essendon players were banned for. Secondly, there is never going to be any direct research into performance enhancement of any performance-enhancing product apart from vitamins and the like for really obvious reasons. No funding body or scientific organisation would fund research into anything to be used an illegal product, nor would any credible researcher put their name to such a study (enter the likes of Stephen Dank). On the other hand, there is a LOT of research into Thymosin beta-4, the product that Essendon players were banned for, and you can wade through any of these 601 articles and get back to us on what you find. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term="thymosin+beta(4)"[nm] Or you could go to any of the sites peddling PED's, where you'll find the benefits of TB4 (or one of its forms, especially TB-500) spelt out in full, and tell us whether any of this would give anyone who took it an advantage in any way, shape or form: Desirable effects of TB-500: differentiation of endothelial cells (blood and lymphatic vessels) growth of new blood cells keratinocyte migration collagen deposition decreases inflammation in various tissue types decreased inflamation in joints increase muscle growth increases in endurance and strength relaxed muscle spasm and improved muscle tone repair damaged heart tissue following a heart attack healing of ulcers and lesions (including stomach and intestinal ulcers) increased exchange of substance between cells overall tissue repair faster healing of wounds repair of tendons and ligaments improved flexibility of joints prevents the formations of adhesions and fibrous bands in muscles, tendons and ligaments promotes hair growth protects and restores neurons after brain injury

  14. Please everyone, stop quoting Saty. It circumvents the ignore feature that many of us enjoy. Saty is in his natural state of "full defence", because we are talking about a M.F.C player. Defend defend defend, beyond all rational thought. Please don't assist him to ruin yet another thread.

  21. May I suggest that what we need is a new system of semi-banning where people get restricted to 'x' posts per day. They'll all have to set a higher bar on what bait and snark they can be bothered engaging with, toss most of it out, and we'll be left only with the actual useful stuff that more than two people (the mutual antagonists) actually would be interested in. It would make this thread about 800 posts shorter.

  22. funniest thing about ET's photo shop gag and the response thereafter is that Saty seems to be completely oblivious to the fact that ET's profile pic is Zach Galifianakis and seemingly thinks that ET is actually claiming to be there hahahaha

  23. Just to make everyone extra jittery, I received a signed jumper from the club for my daughter today. It was signed by Viney, N. Jones and Hogan with a short message to her from each of them - Viney and Jones both signed off with a 'Go Dees', while Hogan did not. So, you know, that means he's gone. Forgetting to add 'Go Dees' is not an oversight. He's gone.

  24. Marchbank has officially requested a trade to Carlton. On another note, is anyone else totally sick of these 22 and under years old players demanding trades to specific clubs? What a farce. What's the point in free agency when this is continually allowed to happen? Restraint of trade IMO.

  26. Around 2012 on a trip to China. The story goes Gawn walked into Scully's room after a dozen or so pints (I don't know how many he'd actually had) and spewed all over a sleeping Scully.

  27. I loved hearing the Bont then. He basically disagreed with many points the Fox team brought up. A Champion A grader like him is an intelligent footballer, understands exactly how the team won, corrects outsiders when they bring up cliche's

  28. I took the stupid smiley out of my original post, as I was dead serious. Against all odds knocked them off when they otherwise would have gone 3 games clear and finished on top. We slayed the giant, finally after 10 years. We got in their heads and filled their entire club with self doubt. Clarkson tried to shrug it off after the game, but no doubt we rattled them. And now they are done, hopefully for a long time, and we will have a new premier.

  34. Oh and personally I think J Hogan will be at the Dee's next year. Just a gut feel. As for the year after who knows. I'd really consider trading him this year if his intentions are leaning towards not being at the club long term. Two early picks or one early pick and a good player might get it done. Having said that we will come out getting unders for him as the draft can be a lottery. Just look at how many picks we have stuffed up over the years. We always get [censored] over. Pitty Freo can't trade next years first round pick, unless they pick up another one that is. No one talks about WCE but I'm sure they would have their hat in the ring too. Really hope he stays and signs a five year deal soon.

  35. Mo, as always, you've moved the goal posts. You are the one that used Marchbank as an example of players not wanting to come here. I give you a lengthy list of AFL quality players that did want to come here, but they don't count because they're not A graders. Guess what - neither is Marchbank. He chose Carlton because they'd have made the best deal for money, game time, and will have convinced him they can easily get the deal done with GWS. If you want to let your insecurities believe it's because nobody loves the MFC, knock yourself out. I won't buy it because there's no evidence of it.

  37. So you think it is possible that Dank/Charter/Hird said "here's some stuff we'd like the players to take. We don't know if it's performance enhancing. In fact it might DETRACT from their performance! But let's stick it in 'em and find out. What's the diff? What's one failed season of footy, it's not like it can affect anyone's career." Here's another possibility for you ... They knew full well it was performance enhancing the whole time.

  39. Silly post mate. Just cos they were players in an era where we underperformed (even though they played in a lot of finals and a grand final) doesn't mean they should be shunned from the club. If they're the best person for the job then bring them back - the love for, and knowledge they already have of the club is a bonus.

  44. B & F "Benny Matthews who is obviously the midfield coach. Some of the vision I go through with him over the past three years. I think that's why you see we are one of the top four midfields in the competition. Another one of the reasons is I'm palming it down their throat. Which helps. It won't take a genius to work out the top two are midfielders and there's a reason they are there."
