  1. As I said in the game day thread - it's easy to see where we're going. I also made the comment that we're almost a bone-fide middle of the road side - but there were times where we showed why we're still a bottom four side. We still have too many crap players in our side, and one or two non-crap players who are only half going. I walk away disappointed but heartened. Salem wore the green vest for the first and last time I'd say. Kid looks a gun.

  2. Boost to our club's chances to learn that Buddy's going to be driving the Swans' team bus to the G today.

  3. Well, we kept them goalless for that quarter. That's something. Sub Watts off for Salem at halftime and we might see a quick skillful player running on to the loose ball and pinpointing some passes.

  4. In a touch of irony, we are becoming a hard team to play against. We are not far off being a bona-fide middle of the road side. I know not too many other footy fans other than Melbourne would celebrate that, but I am. It's very easy to see where Roos is trying to take us.

  5. Pedersen is the perfect example of a limited player playing well because he is running, running and then running again. Rocket surgery it ain't.

  6. Here is my public apology to Pedersen. I think he has earned his spot every week this year and tonight was good in the first half and got tired as the game wore on. However he was still throwing himself in at the end and deserves his spot. A long way better than last year.

  7. Jack Watts desperately needs to be dropped. Not to send a message, but simply because he's not in our best 22.

  8. We need to worry about becoming a good footy side, not pleasing the theatre-goers. Roos is instilling the fundamentals into this team, something we have lacked since Northey. It doesn't look pretty at the moment but the foundation is being laid for the future, no point pining for the days of free-flowing bruise-free footy, we've been there done that. We can look good doing that, can even get to a GF (2000) but would never win one.

  9. I watched Jack amble around the ground tonight with no intent or desire to enter the contest. I've come to the conclusion he is incapable of changing and no matter how many weeks he spends at Casey it won't be enough, he is simply not up to the task. I doubt any other club would want him so we won't even get a trade for him and he will probably have to serve his time out at Casey. He is as soft as any footballer I've ever seen, if he watches the replay of tonight's game, he will be embarrassed by his lack of effort.

  10. JW will be out. And Howe. Have to wait for tomorrow's results, but best case scenario is Garland, Riley & Kent in.

  15. Cameron Pederson is playing the best football i have seen from him. Killing it

  17. I love the idea personally. Being a Vet. I find it impossible to attend football on Anzac Day. I have too many commitments to my RSL Club and Corp. / Unit mates. But Anzac Eve solves a lot of problems. I did ring our Membership Department to find out if there was any sort of Anzac Service for the Dees v Swans game tonight. Only to be told that nothing officially has been organised, as that is all done by the AFL. Can we scratch our Arse without having the AFL's permission. I thought the Diggers of WW1 fought for our freedom. It looks like we are still in the hands of a Dictator. (at least for 6 months more) Edit Ps:- To any of you guys that did buy Anzac Badges from me on Thursday. I must extend a warm thank you. We had a very successful day. Our boys who are doing things tough at the moment will benefit from the sales immensley

  21. Pederson really played an outstanding game, especially considering what we've come to expect from him. Effort and he actually was strong in the air - he really knows how to throw his weight around. If he can keep playing like this, he'll be handy in the swing man role. Matt Jones' development has been awesome so far. If he stays on this trajectory he'll go from bit part player to an essential part of the midfield. It's great to see.

  22. Looked like he belonged immediately. Super promising. How good was it to see the whole team get around him after his first goal?

  23. Must go back to Casey, get some confidence, learn to back himself and enjoy the game and not come back until he finds the intensity that he so desperately needs.

  24. Nup, if we played an any other game with this list we would be sunk big time. Roos is on the money, it's the best move we've made in 50 years to have him at the club (Northey close)...

  25. Anyone who doesn't get home and automatically delete the game from their PVR/IQ fast forward to 3/4 time and have a look at Roos' frustration/inability to fathom the ineptitude of Watts & Howe - and then have a look at the players reactions. Watts looks like he wants to be anywhere except playing a game of footy and Howe looks in disbelief like he can't believe Roos is having a go at him. I had flashbacks for a second to Zantuck/Barassi though of course not to the same extent. It's only a brief shot as the camera pans away but you can see Howe just standing there and looks like he's about to say something back to Roos. We won't improve until we get pretenders like that out of our side. They're not good enough for modern footy and never will be. Howe is still a one-dimensional, unaccountable player who can't even perform his one dimension competently anymore. Loved the look of Salem the kid is class. Overall was happy with the effort other than a couple of dishonourable mentions but our skills and poise are still deplorable. We got caught out too often tonight out of position, Sydney are a well-drilled team and our guys looked lost on occasion which meant they were running into each other/giving off to someone under pressure. We did OK in close tonight but couldn't get any space to get our attacking game going. Sydney were able to on a few occasions more than us and had cleaner ball use which was the difference. We're on the right track but we need to drop a couple of non-performers, turnover over about a third of our list who aren't up to it talent-wise and drill the gameplan into the players until it is instinctual. Nathan Jones was well held tonight and while Vince stepped up somewhat he was nowhere near as damaging. Didn't notice anyone giving Jones a chopout on the TV - that touched goal towards the end of the third could have made a difference but overall I don't think the Swans were ever really worried. They actually went better once Franklin went off as it opened up their forward line a bit, up til then they'd been kicking it on top of his head. After that they isolated Terlich, Georgiou and Dunn and Terlich well and we couldn't defend against them.

  27. If Howe, Frawley and Watts could pull their head out their arse we could actually win this. All three as useless as [censored] on a bull up forward I'm about to jump the fence and smack Watts one. Wake the hell up son!

  28. Did Watts just get the Bronx cheers for taking a simple chest mark just before 3 art time? He is worst on ground.

  30. All year I haven't understood all the crap levelled at Pedo. He's been busting his ass since NAB 1 v Richmond, and gives everything each week. Nice to see he's finally getting the credit he deserves.

  31. At least we are watchable every week. Last year we would of been on 15 points but Sydney would be 132. Watts should be subbed for Salem. Pedo and Dunn are having a dead set crack. The Ruling of holding the ball is the problem not the umpires. You just need to attempt to dispose of the ball and in doing so you can drop the ball and it's called play on. The rule needs to be changed as it was only brought in to ease congestion. It has taken away one of the major fundamentals of the game. You used to HAVE to handball or kick the ball.

  32. I watched Watts give up when his play got the ball and "too far" ahead to catch. He just jogged. Tell that to Davey, or JKH. There is never too far behind as you don't know what can happen! I am done with the boy

  36. OK. Half Time. Thing's I've loved: Viney took a mark in front of the leading Franklin. Stretched right up and left himself wide open with no idea how close Franklin was. THe kid has no sense of self-preservation. Nev hurling himself into the air to spoil a certain mark, winning the ground ball and getting hit high for what would have been a free kick had he been wearing just about any other jumper. Jamar's effort around the ground. He's not getting many disposals, but he's providing a physical presence more than he has for the last few years. The overall physical effort from the team. Things i've hated: The [censored]-poor one-eyed umpiring. Watts' inability to chase, compete for a contested ball, jump for a mark with both hands... Concerns: Pretty sure we'll see at least one of our players suspended out of this. I'd love to see us make the most of our inside 50s in the second half to put on some scoreboard pressure.

  38. Have tried to keep an open mind on watts but lack of effort and desire is pathetic - needs to go to reserves and show some intensity over 5-6 weeks before playing again - if unsuccessful trade at EOY before he loses all value at trade table

  40. Shat himself once dropped a sitter in front as he expected contact from behind. Refuses to tackle and run at the player with the ball, content to just corral the opposition. Not hard enough, probably baulks at his own shadow. Had enough, send him back to Casey til he can prove he's got what it takes to play senior footy.

  41. But, his tackles are so ineffectual. He has no physical presence on the ground, he doesn't tackle, he cuddles.

  43. The flat track bully argument has merit, particularly if you look at 2011, the year which everybody crows about in terms of Brownlow votes (19 votes). He had 5 best-on-ground games - 4 of them were against teams lower than us on the ladder, and the 5th was against Richmond, who finished one spot above us. Beyond this, he polled in just 3 more games - 2 of them against bottom-side Gold Coast. I was never a Moloney hater, but I lost any respect I had for him with the karma jibe at Neeld.

  44. The key to to all of this to me , is that while we are implementing the new game plan, we are able to keep the list happy and committed. They need to see the improvement coming as the game plan is adopted and the personnel evolves. In Roos, I believe we have the Coach who can achieve this.

  46. Sad, but understandable in a 12 year old. But there seems to be a lot of 12 year olds posting here who don't see any improvement.

  47. Tell a twelve year old we are improving, but still losing. I said to my son last week, you can see the improvement son, and he said i dont care i just want to win. I dont blame him he has seen one bloody win in three years of going to the footy, poor kid. Needless to say he isnt coming with me tonite because he is scared we will lose, like he is some sort of jinx. The team i love is making the son i love miserable...conundrum. This is how kids see it, win or lose, black or white.
