  6. You wouldn't get this kind of story happening at Geelong. Leon has had a couple of good seasons now, and was rewarded accordingly with an AA. Part of it may well be wanting to return to WA, but certainly the cut that he has been reportedly offered by the Pies ($) would be a big part of it after the season he has had. Allegedly 1/3rd less from ~$320K/yr > ~$220K/yr is a big blow if correct and someone like Freo who had offered a heap for Clark (but not as much as the Dees) can afford him by picking him up in the draft. Clearly things are tight at the Pies and the the beads of sweat exist on the brow of the Pies List Manager. A move by Davis may allow the Pies to keep the likes of MacCaffer. At Geelong, everyone would have taken a bit of pain to keep players like this in the team (as they have done in the past), instead of one player taking a 1/3rd pay hit. Anyway, good player but I don't think Leon Davis would be required at our club given he's probably only got 2-3 years left in him.

  8. I think the club may have believed Jurrah not to be suited to that role but if you are a mid and you run toward our forward line whose head do you put it on? Jurrah was head and shoulders the best option. Now he is genuinely the second forward and that is great. He can go where he wants around Clark and may even be our small forward option (or one of them). I think that Clark will make Jurrah walk a little smaller... And it's a good thing.

  10. I heard a rumour this morning that the thought had entered the head of our football department that Harvey could want to coach his own team after a stint at Carlton & St Kilda. If he didn't it maybe a worthwhile case to place Royal as Casey coach and bring Harvey into the fold as our midfield coach.Thoughts?

  11. For someone that isnt "tall enough or hasn't the bulk(weight) to play a key positional role" he sure does a good impression of a KPB! His go-go-gadget arms on the spoil are a sight to behold. That game againt the lions in 2010 was great to watch. Garlo gave Fev an absolute bath and Chippa towled up JB too

  12. I would be happy for him to return. He can carry the oranges. I'm sure that there is lots of things that he can do around the club.

  16. I don't know if anyone's noticed Eade's comments on Green in the Herald Sun Coach Rodney Eade said Green was a unanimous choice. "I think Brad's experience at the game is one (reason)," Eade said. "Two, he's obviously captain of an AFL club and has done that exceptionally well. "And then you can see the rapport he's got with the players as well - his communication skills are terrific." Post season we've heard from a few of the players praising Green's leadership. But it's also nice to hear that same priase from some outside the club.

  18. Watched Tom's games with interest and he has a cool head, strong body and hands, reads the play well and delivered ok under pressure. With another pre-season he's a good third tall back option and should free up Garland for more creative duties. I'd hope he'd play at least 12+ games next year. I suspect with a bit of confidence he'll be a beast.

  20. Hardest gig in football - small forward in a tight Grand Final. Leon was great this year back and was OK in the GF. I don't think we should recruit him becaiuse of his age and I think he should endf up at Freo or WC. Surprising that the Pies couldn't get a trade done when their 1st pick is 50.

  23. One bad year is all it takes around here to turn hero to villain. Think back 12 months. Brad was coming off his best year and a complete hero to many on here. He was the best and only clear choice for captain. Jake Spencer looked alright, Lynden Dunn was turning the corner, Martin had a bad year and was a certainty to be delisted. Guess what? things change in football very quickly. Its time to put the Green hating away for awhile. He has been named captain of the Australian team for heavens sake. Congratulations Brad. Season 2012 is behind you. Time to have some fun and enjoy your footy again. I for one will be watching and hoping you do well.

  24. Why would someone do such a thing? Why not? People lie all the time, particularly if they think it will grab them some fame (chk chk boom springs to mind) or they have a grudge, or for some other reason. I would put more weight on the fact that the bar owner/manager made a public statement saying Beamer did NOT pee in his bar. Unsubstantiated rumours are a wonderful thing, because you don't have to prove anything but can malign anyone you choose.

  25. Good player, and if we were in the premiership window I'd be all over him. But we aren't and our eggs are better placed in a younger basket.

  26. You make some valid points, but the games mentioned where Davis "went Missing" i would say the entire Magpie Side was way below par, so that is not all together applicable. I just like the way he was prepared to re invent himself...and he did it well- no one is perfect. But as i said earlier, our New Coach will know better than all of us...Let's see what he does.

  29. I dont understand why anyone would want to move Garland from the backline. With Frawley we have a really solid backline pairing which IMO doesnt need to be tinkered with. Guys like Grimes, Tapscott and blease, yes try them else where if you want, but dont break up Garlo and Chip!

  30. I am sure Brad is rapt to be Captain...And Good Luck to Him.....BUT if he or Chippa get injured playing this Game i will be mighty pi$$ed orf. My Beef is with The AFL for actually having this meaningless series.....The elite of the AFL have quietly said no....i wish that was the case with our Boys... But if you wish to watch the game friday night, by all means do so,,,,I will be at the Movies...Footy season is over..Time to recharge the Batteries.

  31. until jurrah can chase and tackle i cant see him on the wing. His foot skills suggest he could but he just seems to only show his best in the forward line but it may be possible. I think our biggest problem is the forward line. Too many times last year we would get the rebound out of our back 50 and we would have to stop our run because we simply had no one in our half of the ground. We would then have to kick or handball backwards to hold posession and then we would turn it over It made davey in particular look stupid if you were watching on tv but at the game I would scream for someone to stay in our forward half.

  32. I agree with all of that H_T. Who knows where Gawn will end up, but I'm stunned someone can NOT be excited about a 208cm bloke who doesn't move like a glacier. This is almost unprecedented at AFL level - Sandi certainly didn't move in the same manner at the same age. He only needs to develop a little bit to become an adequate AFL ruck, so if he develops a lot?

  33. Why would Martin need the chop-out? He is the chop-out. So Jamar rucks for two-thirds of the game and Clark and Martin share a third? So Martin now rucks for a sixth of the game? 20 mins? Martin isn't a good enough forward to spend so little time in the ruck. And we let Sandilands and co. the chance to cut Clark in half for 20 mins a game? I don't like this at all.

  34. Highly overrated. One tackle and one goalsquare mark is all I've seen from him. Is not "destined" to be a star, as many posters on this site seem to believe. This is not to say he sucks, by any stretch.

  36. From what I saw at the end of last year Tom McDonald looks very good for KPD - Frawley, McDonald, with Rivers genuine 3rd up and Garland playing that attacking Harry O style that he played at the end of last season looks good to me.
