Barassi membership ad

First time I have heard it.....not sure if others have, but Barass urging supporters to get on board.

Finished off the ad with "If it is to be, it's up to US!"

Good to hear a legend flying the flag for the club.........thanks Barass, I wasn't going to, but you've prompted me to buy a membership for my 7 month old.

Yeah, it was good to hear a legend of the game spruiking the Dees.

I've also noticed that he'll be at the MFC Shop before Sunday's game, and was there last week too iirc.

thanks Barass, I wasn't going to, but you've prompted me to buy a membership for my 7 month old.

Props :)

It was Gardner who said we may have to play 5 games at Carrara, he was quoted. It wasnt Caro it wasnt Ron it was Gardner. If there is anyone you shouldnt trust it's Gardner.

Yeah i dont trust him either!

Just Ron was one of North's past legends pushing a relocation only a few months ago, i hope his heart beats true, but if the clubs put to the sword, we dont need our past legends saying the same thing....

Barassi seems to speak on football like he has done for over 40 years with foresight that seems clearly beyond some people.

He is correct about the future about North. And despite snipes about whether his heart beats true he has been public in the media and present at many Club functions demonstrating that.

Its amazing a Club legend like Barassi cops the unnecessary flak he does.

Just was i was thinking, every week supporters on here winge that we don't have any past players and legends giving us help and support, and now possibly one of the GAME'S greatest legends and one of our own calls for support and everyone is questioning his intentions!

Perhaps this is one of our (many) problems, we're not trusting enough to accept help. It's always a conspiricy, just take his kindness and assistance and thank him for it!

Thanks Ron, and well done.

To be honest, I work in the advertising and communications industy and I think its a little lame and uninspiring, considering how crucial this time is for the club.

Well if you work in the industry , how would you have approached it ?

Damn right Pates...the last thing we need to do is slate any past MFC player for trying to do something positive, let alone of the MFC's and the game's greatest assets.

Anyway who wants to slate Barass should take a good long look at themselves.

We need his ilk now more then ever

I have the video of it if someone will help me post it it is in MP4 format, I have sent a message to Nasher but not sure if he has got it as I'm not too sure how to send them.

DeeReaming, you dont need to look at yourself to see that Ron only goes where the $$$$$ are. He has done nothing for the club since left his legacy of the dreaded 5 year plan, or should i say fiasco!!!!!

Those 5 years probably still stick in his gut too.

The thing is he is back now and we're not exactly flush with cash. I doubt he's a Trojan Horse for Vlad, so welcome back RD.

So why the hell is coming back to MFC then? If he want the $$$$ he could go to any of his other ex-clubs like Carlton where the cardbox king is now worth more than 50 poker machines in a social club.

I wonder why John Northey had such a good crop of juniors to work with?

Make no mistake Ron is all about Ron, not the MFC. Where has he been before flogging his book?? Sydney. I do not consider him a Demon. Oh and where is Brian Dixon these days?? Bob Skilton coached us too, but he's never played on that. Slipped quietly into oblivion. Take note Barass.

Ronald Dale Barassi.

Born: 27/2/1936.

Melbourne - 1953-1964, 204 games, 295 goals, 6 Premierships.

Playing Premierships: Melbourne - 1955, 56, 57, 59, 60, 64.

Playing Achievements: Melbourne - Captain 1960-64; Best and Fairest 1961, 64; All Australian 1956, 58, 61.

Inducted into AFL Hall of Fame as an official Legend in 1996.

Nah. You are right. A treacherous bastard if ever there was one. Did nothing for the Club. How could you think of capitalising on your achievements. He is probably in it with that worm Stan Alves!

Brian Dixon??? And you think Ron is about Ron. Sheesh. Dixon's antics in Hamer's cabinet are legendary. No wonder Gutnick would not have him in his side.

But you are right. Ron Barassi dont you go touching our $$$$ now. .....:lol:

The guys from the Barassi / Northey era are the ones we need as coaches and assistant coaches if we're really going to have a new, original approach to winning games. Those guys played for each other and won games against all odds regularly. Forget the psychological assessments and the powerpoint presentations. Who can do it?

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
