Colin Sylvia-A Big One Required

Recommended Posts

Even if he never reaches the heights he promises, he will still have a very long AFL career and have some damn fine moments along the way

If Colin stays fit -

At best, he could be as good as Michael Voss or Mark Ricciuto

At worst, he will be a Matthew Robbins/Martin Pike type player. Hardly a superstar, but a player that will carve out a niche and be an important cog in his teams side.

By the way, I think he will be a lot closer to the Voss/Ricciuto end of the spectrum

wtf are you smoking??? He could be the next Michael Voss or Mark Ricciuto???

Yze Magic you are an absolute tool!

Sylvia was useless today...poor decision maker, gives away too many free kicks, gets caught with it too many times, misses targets, no 1%'s....to say he could be a star is just stupid...id go so far as to say he is playing for his career this year...1 good game in 4 years IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

He should be our permanent FF

Has the skillset of Gary Ablett Senior. Massive leap, strong as an ox, beautiful kick.

Alas, it seems that Bailey is as clueless on how to use COlin best, just as Daniher was

Whereas its quite obvious to me, and I am not being paid a dime

I'd say he has some other other skillsets that Ablett Snr. had, and not the ones you have outlined.

I dunno if I was watching a different game today... but I thought Sylvia was Okay. His disposal was better than most, and he tackled hard which was something we missed against the Hawks. This is his first game this season, and he has already been written off by a fair lot of you.

This is the same bloke who has just had his first full pre-season, and was amongst the best in every game of the N.A.B Cup/Practice matches. It is a little hard to be a superstar when the rest of the side did nothing as well.

Absolutely! I thought he was good, too. He was fifth in my top six, but when I posted that, I kinda got shouted down. I really thought his entry inside 50 was good, as was his intensity, at least compared with that of some of our other players.

A few of our blokes need to consult him on the art of laying a tackle. Sylvia always lays great tackles. I thought he was good but he still has no engine - he blew up in the 2nd quarter today.

Why would they do that? Sylvia struggled to lay a good tackle all day. For a bloke who cheated on his teammates, he had a big big incentive to stand up today. He was very very poor. A failure of character was on show.

Hell, the 2003 draft has unearthed some truly overrated plodders. Sylvia, Cooney and McLean are at best middle of the road and are along way from any star status.

Col didnt play miuch of a game today.. in many ways it was laughable. There may be one consolitary aspect. I may grant him that his desire to make ammends possibly so overcame him that he played like cr@p as a result. There was no polish and very little thought in his footy today. Maybe he was just in a hurry to do something that he messed most of it up !!

lets see how he travels next week.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
