Your Ladder Prediction

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why everyone is rating Brisbane so highly. Sure, they have a good midfield and the best CHF in the comp but their ruck division is severely lacking, they lack a key defender and they could probably do with another key forward.

Their preseason form hasn't been that great either. I'm not writing them off making finals, but seriously, top 4??!!

On the other hand, I think people are under-estimating Port - they'll be right there again this year.

I dont particularly rate the Lins either..they are neighter great...nor bad.. probably amongst a group of teams I would put us in. A "who knows on the day" type category.

I have a funny feeling Port will slip this year.. they have at times some talent, but are mentally soft. Just my view

Geelong - Boring.

Boring??? If the Cats are boring I must be watching the wrong game, they went out and pumped everyone last year with hard direct footy.

I would love the Dees to be boring like that!!

Well, their midfieed is top calibre, and that includes their ruck division (which could be the best in the AFL by seasons end)

They have some great youngsters who actually look better than ours (Adcock, Selwood, Sherman, Leunberger, Rischitelli, Clark, Patful, Hooper, Henderson etc...)

Their forward line could be the best in the game with the return of Bradshaw to join the almighty Jonathan Brown and Jared Brennan

Underrated backline

They are coached by Leigh Matthews

They have a great homeground advantage

Dees finish last with 3 wins. Gather two picks in the top 3. Get that Natanui fella and another gun

Yay! YM's put the kiss of death on someone else for a change, every game for the first 9 rounds he predicted us to "bounce back". I also believe his prediction for 2007 was 3rd or 2nd.

Thanks YM!

i think it was meant boring as in boring prediction, as in that's what everyone will say

Correct. I want to put someone ahead of them, and I think a club will probably do it given the even-ness of the comp and Geelong's luck... But I can't figure out which it will be... Too much crystal-ball gazing...

Oh thank **** Yze Magic tipped us to finish last. That means we'll go Top 4 at least!

Ha  !!!

My totally uneducated guess would be at the bottom of, or just out of, the eight.

I agree with you except for the forward line which is no way even close to the best. Geelong, St Kilda, Sydney, Port, Freo, Melb, Essendon and Collingwood have better forward line than lions

Geelong Everyone is playing for second

Brisbane Have recruited well - If J Brown was CHF in most other teams, the would be talking flags

Adelaide Under rated - very fit

Port Adelaide Gun List - Would have loved to get their recruiting guru

Hawthorn I hate this club. Hope I'm wrong, would be wonderful for them to finish outside the 8

St Kilda Window closing... tick tock tick tock Harvey and Gerhrig.... tick tock tick tock

West Coast Well coached, home ground advantage

Femantle Window will slam shut at the end of this year - list getting very old.

Richmond It's been my experience with doing these things in the past that Richmond at 9 is a safe bet

Kangaroos Will fight hard, but not good enough. Key players are also getting old

Sydney Bang, Crash Thud. Hope they have some injuries for the first time in their life - We would win premierships if we only had to play 26 players a year!

Bulldogs 1 dimensional

Essendon Will start well and will die approx round 8. Also Knights has only read about success - never come close to achieving any

Carlton Don't know how to win, a bunch of losers

Collingwood Do not under estimate the last of leadership and experience on their list (Maybe hopeful, but I hate them)

Melbourne

If we don't make the 8, this is where I want to finish. Tough Draw, 3 wins, get the priority pick, none of this pick 3 or 4 or 5. I WANT THE GUN! A big GUN, 2 Guns, Nantinui and Someone 6ft 5, in the Jonathon Brown Mould.

Bailey will be good for Melbourne, but there is more water to go under the bridge. Melbourne will trade for a first round pick again this year.

PS also, you can flip my ladder at the end of the year and I will also be happy

Mate, let me tell you this

Jamie Charman on his own is better than White/Meesen/Jamar and PJ combined

And I havent even mentioned the fact that Brisbane have Matt Luenberger, who is a future AA ruckman

Is it just me or does it seem harder to do this year? The competition really is even. I am having trouble justifying the final positions with myself so I don't like my chances of convincing anyone else.

Having said that Brisbane to do the business for mine. Brown and Bradshaw have the forward structure covered, Charman is more than adequate in the ruck. They have added TJs flair and touch to a hardworking midfield with a bit of grunt and they are big enough down back to cover most teams if Merret and Roe can cover the key posts. On top of that they have the best coach in the league. Probably int he best 3 coaches of all time.

Melbourne on the other hand will struggle for mine. I feel I am being optimistic sticking them in at 11th. I hope like hell that prove me wrong.

Bruce, Green, Miller and Carroll ... who have all proven huge disappointments and have not lived up to their potential.

A pick in the 60s, an early second round pick, a pick in the 50s and a rookie. What exactly was their potential?

    MORE FIERCE by Meggs

We’re back!  Winning the last three matches has recaptured our Demon spirit and, with superstar players returning from rehab, our Season 2024 dreams are not over yet.   So come along 5.05 pm Saturday afternoon to watch this Round 9 ladder-defining match at the Field of Dreams. Expect the Tigers to be fierce, but surely the Demons will be more fierce. Playing conditions are expected to be a dry 15 degrees with a typically gusty Cranbourne wind. The media opprobrium of the ill-consi

    IN FRONT by Meggs

In this must-win clash between Melbourne 11th on the ladder and St Kilda 8th, it was the Demons who were in front all day to win in a hard-fought Round 8 clash to make it three in a row to keep theit slim finals chances alive. A good crowd of enthusiastic footy families for week 2 of Pride Round had gathered.  The full pews in the well-appointed RSEA Park grandstand provided excellent viewing.   The Saints won the toss and elected to kick to the southern end favoured by a strong 2-3 g

    THE TRADING CHRONICLES 02

Part 2: Watching grass grow by Whispering Jack Critics of test cricket (and I’m not one of them) will often claim the sport is excruciatingly boring: that following a five day match is much like watching grass grow. However, the longest form of that game has nothing on the first week of the AFL trade period when it comes to inducing sleep among those in the football public who follows this process in its somnolent moments. The week gone by has been no exception. Only two player trades

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Meggs

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised
