The time has come, this is the big one, even bigger than the Brownlow (well, perhaps I'm getting carried away). You guys know the drill, please give your 3-2-1 for who you think were the best posters over the last season. I think I need to set some ground rules, you can't on-trade your votes (sorry deanox) and voting will finish on Sunday at 17:00 (extra day because I was late)

Good luck everyone!

Damnit, when's the best mod vote?! :P

I wasn't too sure if I should or not but we can run with two awards this week, and as Jaded suggested I'll create another thread. (Edited)

mate...thats like voting for the best mag... I mean umpy !!!

Anyway, my top 3 posters:

3- Maurie Lithen. Not the most regular but you very rarely see a post that isn't quality.

2- Rhino Richards. Is often the lone voice of reason amongst an awful lot of noise.

1- Fan. Has been easily my favourite poster for as long as I can remember on both 'land and 'ology. I wish he posted more, if he did he'd be a shoo-in for my 3.

Jarka, if you want to do the best mod awards this week too, you should put it in a separate thread with a poll, since there are a lot of mods who go unnoticed. If you set it up in a poll, it means that everyone gets an equal chance to get a vote.

I think it'd be a bit wanky if one of the "inactive" mods won personally!

The point is, that not everyone knows the full list of moderators so they can't make a fully informed selection.

It was just a suggestion.

3. Hannabal / Trav 20 Love his work, he's pretty much the reason I kept coming to this site.

2. Fan - I'm a fan of Fan. 100% sense.

1. Scoop Junior - Talks a fair bit of sense too.

Honorable mention to WJ. These guys all make coming here worthwhile, thanks fellas. *thumbs up*

This is why such an award is flawed, sorry Jarka.

3 - Champ - right post at the right time. The one above swayed my thinking.

2 - Beach Road Barry - Certainly how I find out about Melbourne's youngsters

1 - WJ/Scoop Junior - Always insightful

Because more often than not people will just vote for who they agree with. Not who is the "best".

lets see if anyone agrees with you ...

Fan, Hannabal, Scoop of course ... got to fit Axis and Grazman in there. I rate Queen C too.

I didn't vote for them because they're the posters I agree with. I voted for them because I believe they're the most persuasive. The people I would vote for in something like this are the people who can convince of an argument either way.

You might notice that I'm not a poster who gets right in to the nitty-gritty of an argument often. That's because 9 times in 10 when I open a thread, it's on a topic I haven't formed a solid opinion on yet.

My favourite threads are the ones where the likes of H and Fan come head to head. My very favourite threads are the ones where I change my opinion on the matter at hand after reading each individual post. These guys do that for me. Regularly. (btw I could easily have included H in my votes as he is by far and away the best debater on this forum and he sucks me right in, but at times I find his over-aggression distasteful)

Rhino gets my vote because he uses his brain when everyone else is hysterical, particularly in a bad season. I don't always agree with what he says, and have come to a head with him a few times, but I appreciate the fact that he doesn't go off half cocked.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
