Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Almost sounds like possibly a backroom deal may've been sold.

Boy, we can only hope but until we know I won't be holding my breath  !!!

Thank you to both Ward and Godfrey, two players who always gave their all and got the absolute most out of themselves.

I wouldn't be surprised if, at 26, Godfrey puts himself in the PSD. Carlton could, and have, done worse

A bit surprised about Neaves, but maybe they don't feel he is ready to be promoted so they'll delist him and pick him up again as a rookie?

I guess he hasn't improved much over the year, unlike Jace Bode who just saved his career in time.

I'm assuming the club will now try and trade Ferguson and if they can't, he too will be delisted.

This is such a great move by the club, even if it is only a small one. It shows me that Dean Bailey really is looking forward and not hesitating in getting rid of players who are clearly not up to it.

ordinary footballers?

players who have had a bad season , bad career? a few bad games?

we couldnt clear our list of ordinary players in 3 seasons, if u were deciding who was going.

I am glad the Club can come to sensible decisions when other clearly arent able to.

I would be clearing them out within 2 years.

I guess you would keep them and treasure them then wonder why the hell we dont win games.

But on more important issues, thanks to Godfrey and Ward for their endeavour and effort over their careers. Unfortunately they were not good enough at this level.

Thankyou to Godders and Ward, great servants to the club!! Wish you all the best in the years to come.

I havent seen much of the Neaves, Hayes and Neville but i hope they continue their careers and all the best

the biggest surprise is Shane Neaves, we all thought he might make it, looks like he won't, not with us anyway...

so that's Bizzell, Pickett, Brown, Ward, Godfrey and Neville off the senior list along with Neaves and Hayes off the rookie list...

you'd expect the promotion of Jace Bode, which leaves 5 spots on the senior list... we currently selections 4, 21, 37, 53 and a pre season draft choice... you'd expect we want to improve our draft position, trade week will definitely be interesting...

6 delistings...

we can expect 1 or 2 more after the trade period...

if we pick up a ruckman during trade time then Jamar will be delisted. If Miller and C.Johnson cant find new homes during trade period they could also be under pressure to be gone.

Seeing as Warnock is under contract and assuming Holland is kept as depth, we now have Warnock, Holland and Ferguson all kept on as key position depth...i assume ferguson will therefore be delisted as well in the next 2 months

Every year people say trade week will be interesting. Yet every year, trade week is painfully uneventful. Generally just a few nothing trades 10mins before the deadline. And Bailey has already stated he isn't the biggest fan of trade week, so I wouldn't expect too much action...

But best of luck to Godders and Ward, kinda surprised to see Neaves go. Can we still re-rookie him? What happened to ruckmen taking longer to develop?

Why would we spend two years developing a ruckman who shows real promise only to delist him when is beginning to hold down the regular No 1 spot at Sandy. I don't get it. I hope Bailey had a really good look at him. Wierd????

Bailey obviously saw nothing in the kid

how did Neaves show real promise? the time i saw him play he looked like mark jamar. slow, doesn't do much around the ground and no football brain. the only time he held number 1 spot was because either jamar or pj were playing seniors or injured. got drop in the middle of the year aswell which showed he took a bit of a backward step. he is 199cm. but we need a ruckman who can take big marks, quick, kick goals when resting forward and do a fair bit around the ground.

hopefully we can pick a ruckman like this in the draft

In regards to Godders and Ward, there is no doubt that it is the right decision. We need more talent on the list.

I don't think it's correct to say that Ward wasn't up to it. He was a very serviceable player over the years with good speed and a hard edge. He's past his best and is no longer a best 22 player, but he was a fair player over the years.

Godders got the absolute most out of himself. For someone not of AFL standard in regards to speed, disposal, decision-making and awareness, he can be pretty proud of his efforts in playing 100 games. Fantastic worker and great courage.

Thanks to these two for their efforts. The decision is correct. But we can also acknowledge their efforts over the years.

Agree that Ward and Godfrey tried hard, but they wouldnt get picked for any team that made the 8, which I suppose why they have been delisted.

I think that Ferguson should be retained as we lack height in defence. When ever he has showed improvement he has been unlucky copping some bad injuries so I think he's worth hanging onto.

Such is football, as already stated both Wardy and Godders can be incredibly proud of their achievements. I'll especially miss Franky... I doubt there's been too many blokes play 100 games for the MFC that had less talent and more heart than him.

I think Neaves is still eligible to be re-rookied by us, but I'd be surprised if he was. He didn't show enough to get promoted. With only one real ruckman on the list - two NQR ruckman and no development ruckman... it's time to draft at least two more rucks. I'm not in favour of trading for someone like Woods - he Meesen, Moran etc will all be far too expensive... better to tighten our belts and just pick some ourselves.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
