Need another tall, certainly. Surely it would be Petty if he was right. What's going on with him? Lack of clarity around him is irritating, and unfortunately not unusual in the way Melbourne reports injuries - Lindsay and Rivers being two other current cases.

I have a feeling he has a concussion, not likely from the game. Delayed symptom from a training knock.

Heโ€™s got a glass head and I think heโ€™s probably in his last couple concussions before heโ€™s forced out. This could also be his last.

ย

Bowey had 15 disposals while playing in the first half for Casey.

I'd give him a full game at Casey before bringing him back into the side but definitely encouraging signs.

I'd say WC at Marvel the week after will be the target for Bowey

You could bring in Cross and push Fritsch to Culleys wing. You could bring AMW in and welcome Langdon back into the wingers club. I hope they resist bringing Bowey in on a hot game off a half in the VFL.

Either way against the Swans talls we need to bring one of Petty (unlikely), TMac (probable) or Adams (possible) in which should be for XT.

I also donโ€™t think Latrelle is far away from a spell at Casey to work on some parts of his game. On a smaller ground like the SCG it wonโ€™t surprise if its this week.

In TMac Cross

Out Taylor Culley

Agree

Cross played reasonably at Casey today.

You could make a case for AMW in place of Taylor but I think he'll stay until Bowey returns in Round 9. (Could Bowey be a smokey for the Swans game. He played one half at Casey today very well.)

The โ€œlack of clarityโ€ probably irritates a lot of fans but it comes from the fact that there needs to be a comprehensive battery of tests and scans performed to ascertain exactly whatโ€™s going on with him. Itโ€™s not the club withholding information or being vague.

XL has groin soreness and Riv has an ongoing knee issue.

The club isnโ€™t obligated to disclose every detail of every injury anyways. Clearly thereโ€™s no breach in terms of injury lists, if there was, no doubt the AFL would be across it in a heartbeat.

If we bring in another tall defender, @Ghostwriter mentioned that today Jed Adams was given best on ground by the Casey coaches. Seeing as he was an emergency last night, youโ€™d expect him to get a call up over Tmac vs Sydney.

Don't disagree, but the counter argument would be that if you want to fast-track his development you leave him in the ones. The pressure and speed of the game is so much more intense, and I don't know how much he'd get out of the lower-intensity VFL.

Similar argument for XT, though as a defender it becomes more much about positioning, focus etc., in which case some games at Casey could be of benefit. Equally, he was fairly dominant in his last Casey game, so once again, not sure.

Heโ€™s doing a great job where he is, but could Howes replace Culley on a wing? We have a ton of half backs who could fill Howesโ€™ current role, I think heโ€™d thrive there and weโ€™d keep that height down the line that King loves.

I think itโ€™s the ability to be a forward threat more so than height. Fritsch should see more run there.

Howes is establishing himself where Turner did last year. I would really want to see him stay back there. Heโ€™s beating his bloke but also coming off and affecting play. Not just leaving that to Lever and Jiath.

*Unless nth beat the giants

We are in the top 4 at the end of round 7

Anyone have that on their bingo card?!?!

Good to hear. Clearly he needs time. Iโ€™d be worried if we were saying heโ€™ll be right in 10 days

Get right Harry. See you in a month hopefully

Injuries are a concern but hopefully some reinforcements arriving soon. Could Bowey come straight back in this week with 5 on the bench? I know he only played a half but too good to leave in the VFL really

Neurological things can be very hard to diagnose. I am sure Harrison is being investigated by appropriate medical experts but there is not always a definite answer.

Wasn't Howesโ€™ originally notes as a winger? However he is doing such great work in defence he should probably stay there - as much as anyone has an actual position these days.

To beat Sydney,, With J.Culley devastating injury I would bring Langdon back to the wing, also bring in AMW to replace Langdon backline spot and drop Xavier taylor for Tom McDonald or Jed Adamโ€™s. I would also give latrell time to develop more of his craft (not skill) in the vfl and replace with with paddy cross.

Ricky mentha is also starting to gain confidence and playing more freely.

Bowey should not be rushed into the side, he should get match fit in the vfl before going back into the oneโ€™s

Hell no,I still have visions of him getting spanked a few weeks ago to the tune of 8 goals, not ready yet! AMW in and Langdon goes back to Culleys wing

Itโ€™s an interesting option but he has just started building such great consistent form I would not mess with it at this time. He also has such a great balance of defence and attack and match up flexibility. At least not until we get to a point where readiness and form mean we are trying to crush Bowey, Salem, AMW into the team.

Just to confirm some posters asking.... Yes Howes spent a fair bit of his early career at Casey playing off a wing before moving in to a HB role most of the time.

Just my view but could be trialed here for a stint with Culley going down. More likely we'll see T-Mac coming in, with the potential for Adams but looks a fair way off, for Lingers who heads back there until Culley returns in 27.

The other option but probably less likely is Leb is trialled there for a stint once Rivers returns and replaces him in an outside mid role?

I think we have fast tracked his development getting 7 games into him but aside from unrewarded running (very important) and the occasional highlight heโ€™s having very little impact offensively or defensively. I suggest they will want Cross in the side and Laurie should be retained on last weeks game. Managing him this week to freshen him up after 7 AFL games or sending him to Casey to work on getting more touch or improving his tackling is not a bad thing. Particularly when playing the battled hardened Swans on the postage stamp sized SCG.

Thanks doc

Could we leave Langdon at HB, which seems to be working? And, use someone else to replace the unfortunate Culley, who I believe will be sorely missed.

Is there someone from Casey who could fill that role?

It's always good to get a second opinion. And a third.๐Ÿ˜€

Langers back to wing. He should only go back to HB on an irregular/as needs basis ... which isn't now.

Leave Howes at HB ... he's great!! I didn't think he'd make it ...I was wrong. I now love him.

Bowey won't come back to AFL level this week, and rightly so. Needs at least one full game at Casey.

Beyond sad about Culley ... he was approaching man crush territory.

Rivers ... I wonder what's going on there.

Turner ... wow ... what an amazing PSD selection he was!!

Not convinced about Fritsch on a wing, although short bursts during matches might be ok. Or if Melksham is in the team.

Who replaces Petty? Probably TMac, although I gather the coaches are keen to move past him (respectfully of course). Adams would be murdered by the Swans talls.

Assorted ramblings over ....

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
