OUT: Culley, Heath

IN: Bowey, Plugger Mac

If Bowey gets thru the vfl he’s straight in for mine

Gawn vs Grundy one out on the small ground

Edited by whatwhat say what

Only one change:

OUT: Culley

IN: XL / Bowey

Laurie had a strong second half & should be given a string of games

Bowey? 🤞🏻

Laurie out.

I thought some of Laurie's contest work was pretty good tonight. I have a feeling he'll keep his spot

Can't see XL being back. Groin issue I believe.

Based on Emergencies this week and how much the coaches seem to want game time into Cross

Out: Culley

In: Cross

No need to rush Bowey back after a long layoff & predicted half a game a Casey this week I’d give him a run of games at Casey first before bringing him in as we saw last year how poorly it faired for Tholstrup getting thrown straight into the AFL with no game time under his belt

Just this for me, too.

Laurie did have a poor beginning. He did stuff, but he did it noticeably badly. His improvement through the game was doubly good: in and of itself, but also in that it showed he could work through things (and was given the time to do it).

Poor, very poor. Laurie had a shocker of a first half. Yes he played okay once we got on top. But up against a fast contested midfield like the Swans, he’s a liability!!!

Will wait and see how the Casey boys go tomorrow but:

Culley (inj).

Heath or perhaps Jeffo (just don’t need the extra tall).

Xavier Taylor (took a step forward second but he’s super raw).

Laurie (just very limited).

Are potential outs.

T Mc, Cross, Henderson the 3 in the frame to come in assuming Lindsay isn’t right and there’s no miraculous Salem or Rivers recovery. Agree to give Bowser a second Casey game, no need to rush.

...but I suspect it's likely to be 'we shall see'.

Noticeable he was on the phone a lot. Body language didn't indicate bad things. Encouragement? Teaching? Instruction?

Laurie was fine. Latrelle was fine. XT was fine. Jefferson and Heath a shade above that. I do worry about carrying a so many ‘developing’ players but when your senior players lift their games you can absorb and cover for them. Sparrow, Pickett, Sharp, Chandler, Howes, and Turner have levelled up and that is where are improvement has come from. The emerging kids are not consistent but they are rare talents that’s helping us win games (CW6, HL4, Kolt).

So exciting.

Bowser will need a full game at VFL level before he returns.

Out: Culley, Taylor

In: Cross, TMac

Curnow, Amartey and McDonald next week. Nothing against Taylor who did some ok things tonight, but we're going to be stretched if we don't bring in TMac as an extra tall down back.

Especially after his first three or four touches, he looked a bit off, to recover from that was fantastic

Lol. Love that we aren’t rated.

Roberts, Hamling, McCartin, Mills and Lloyd, Rampe, Bice aren’t exactly a backline that screams pace or dynamic.

Both sides play run and gun slingshot style, so if we are on after a 9 day break, we can beat them. Absolutely ridiculous odds in a year where we have so far taken out St Kilda, Brisbane and Gold Coast.

I agree we will need a KPD to come in given the Swans height.

However, it was interesting to see that Jed Adams was an emergency this week instead of TMac

I just wonder, has Adams now gone ahead of TMac in the eyes of the match committee?

Maybe with the five day break, TMac wasn't preferred.

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
