Wow...

Soft as Liberace at a High Heffner shindig.

A little bit of lightening and they scurry into the change rooms like cockroaches while the crowd sit out exposed on the boundary seats.

No, in all seriousness, did they stop games before 2000 due to lightening?

I don't remember it happening. Maybe the technology wasn't there. But they must have had games back then with strikes close or at the ground. Was play stopped?

it's probably the right thing to do.....I mean not winning a flag because half your teams been microwaved is a pretty big bummer.

Talk about your rebuild. Crikey.

Perhaps the umpires for their many crimes and misdemeanors should be forced to wear lightening rods.

It's harsh, but players are protected and people get their monies worth.

And somewhat entertaining watching them dive for cover or try and wrestle their helmet rod off while being called out for ducking.

A throwback to more gladiatorial times perhaps.

Talk about revenue raising.

They could build the Tassie stadium in four months easy.

Maybe even throw in a few animals. Just small ones. Jackals, black bears or perhaps the odd angry mongoose or a Maynard ugliporious.

Or maybe save all the animals.just for half time.

Especially the g.f. where so much cash has been wasted on failed oseas acts.

And it's not like umpires are hard to replace. None of them but a couple know the rules or how to apply them.

Just trying to find some positives after last week's fiasco.

I feel we will bounce back.

Good to see Jeffo mentioned. I think he will surpass Jvr. Was on the move before Goody dropped him for improvement.

Poor bevo. That night could not have gone any worse. Serious injuries to key players & having to play down there.

One bonus is jezza kicking 10. Ablett held that total of 10 against us in 94.

Would it be possible to put a gps device in a ball to determine how far it's travelled,?

Like cricket stumps it could light up.

Although handballs could be an issue.

Wth am I talking about?

How hard is it to estimate 15m fgs?

Steven May could’ve been useful in that side

If selling whatever brand of glue you are on today @Dee Vinci, I’m first in line.

The Dogs have one of worst defences in the league

How is Lobb on an AFL list?

they will never win finals with that defence

He easily gets a game with us.

can we volunteer to play the dogs next week?

To play them back into form ?

There's no arguing Oliver does not get his hands on the ball but he handballs as much as kicking and there not always very effective.

He hardly ever scores goals and isn't as fast as he used to be.

Gives away a lot of frees compared to ones won.

He does tackle but rarely gets paid for them.

Not saying we couldn't still use him. Especially last week. But he's a shadow of Oliver circa 21.

I've already put $20 on them to lose the Grand Final by over 60 points.

You can’t be serious, if you think he’s just allowed to run free you’re wrong, his work rate and reading of the play makes him a very difficult match up.

If it was easy opposition coaches would have just shut him down every week

Just watch the game again; it's easy to see that his opponent was never near him, with or without the ball, or standing metres away. The way you play him is to put a running player on him and forget about the ball. It's called negating a player. Langdon did it to an extent and frustrated Dacios. Sometimes, you need to lose something to get something, just like letting sides move the ball out of the backline to the wing unmanned, like last week—just like the Hawks transfer the ball across the ground several times until they get free to run onto it and attack. Sometimes, a little man-on-man coverage works to stop that.

The cats did the one thing that will change the game style again: their forwards manned up the backline, which stopped the easy flow of ball movement and forced the dogs to go long on kicks outs, and had forwards remain close in the forward line to allow easy flow. The game will start to move to a man-on-man style around certain parts of the ground.

Clarry a lazy 37 possesions in a losing side, not bad for a King Discard!

I didn't see his whole game but took particular attention to his last couple of quarters. He rarely kicked and the three kicks I did see didn't make it to a gws player. He got possessions but they were mostly handballs. We still could use him though, as you said.

The real battle of the bridge is Kings bday .

The Sandringham line is always safely full of red and blue.

I guess those poor souls in Sth Yarra and Toorak probably safely drive in their Beamers.

Apologies to the chicken lady .....although isn't she more East or West than the other two directions?

Yea, now you.mrntioning his kicking...he did turn it over a few times.

I think he's averaging 30 touches a game but the two I've watched showed very average use so Im not entirely sold.

He seems to have lost his poise.

Trac is the bigger loss but so it goes.

Perhaps in the end the strife wasn't worth it all.

Hopefully Sparrow keeps improving.

Was massive, and still a sensational player

And wouldn’t it have been great to keep him .if not for his off field issues ..

most of us loved Clarry but he didn’t love us enough. So PF ..you either love the club or love individuals who let us down

Yep, that was a classic Clarry game and it would be petulant to try to pick at it. Even the usual things that people knock him for were well under control. Lots of contests, lots of ground gained and effective ball use and decisions.

Meanwhile, you can tell @picket fence is in a good mood with Jefferson named. He's still going hard on the Clarry commentary (Clarrentary?) but there's not a caps lock or triple exclamation mark in sight!

Didn't do GWS much good, but when Tom Green is back that one-two inside midfield hit might just work as the gravity around which the Giant's runners can spin.

Now... be careful here, he wanted to stay... who let who down??

  • PREVIEW: Brisbnae

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
