I was thinking this last week. We will be a very appealing prospect for some high end talent. It never really happened after our flag and while people don't want to hear it I was told by a player at another club our "culture was terrible". So perhaps the cleanout we have had at all levels was warranted after all.

Certainly now we look to be on the right path...

I laughed when people suggested that he could play the ANB role but if anything I think he has probably been slightly better than him this season so far.

To be fair jnrmac we didn’t have much spare salary cap to squander and Goody was trying to hang onto his team when we were crying out for a top forward and a mid who could hit a target.

The new gameplan is unlocking certain players, and Sharp is one. In hindsight, he doesn't have any glaring weaknesses, so a gameplan that suits his strengths, really bodes well for him. He is outrunning his opponent, delivering the ball well, pushing forward to be an option. He is a great kick, has pace, loves a goal, can chase down tackle. There is only upside to his game. I can only see him improving.

I'd have Chandler in the same basket.

The gut running of guys like him and Sharp in particular are creating outnumbers all around the ground, simply because their opponents cannot go with them.

He's an excellent kick, which i have to say has surprised me a bit this season

Harry Sharp has played 3 good games. He has speed to burn and has cemented his place in this team. King seems to know how to bring the best out of lesser lights and Sharp has earned his spot.

Amazing what a bit of confidence can do for a player

Sharpie has been a real ’surprise packet’ for me. He’ quickly become an important cog in the environment of ‘have fun, play to your strengths and don’t be afraid of making mistakes, that Kingy is creating.

His 2025 highlights shows off his goal sense, just needed to start getting more of the pill (and the handy removal of the sub rule too)

He looked tense and apprehensive to me under Goody, like he would get the ball and have to take a split second to think about what he was going to do. Now he just looks like he’s reacting intuitively to the play in front of him.

love that he appears to have gotten harder too. he laid into Witts on the weekend and put him on the ground. not just a soft runner! also, that huge play against the saints in round 1 when he put his body on the line and it resulted in a goal..

Not to mention Windsor and tiers did you notice when Harry was running through the middle bouncing the ball Langford was running alongside of him, he’s faster than I thought as well.😁

What’s surprised me most isn’t that he’s playing well in new system it’s that he now looks like a footballer who can run not the other way around. His kicking, tackling and marking have all improved. Hopefully he can continue his form going forward.

Perhasp that's why Sharpie has gone thru the four stages of Nibbla so quickly:

1. Cautious optimism player x will be decent addition to the list

2. Loss of confidence player x will be decent addition to the list

3. Grudging acceptance player x has been a decent addition to the list

4. Player x is critical element of the team

This was how I was looking at things too. Probably saw us as a bottom 5 side with option of picking up some real talent in draft before Tas comes in.

I’ll wait until after the Richmond game before judging on a decent block of games but it’s starting to look like we are further along in our development phase than I thought.

I enjoyed his ‘rock star’ motion to the cheer squad , revving them up after his last quarter goal.

You forgot the incessant "I've never rated him... he's a spud... he will never amount to anything... he is a VFL player at best..." calls.

I read a quote from Guerra (I think) somewhere that during the final interviews for the coaching job, King was asked how he sees this team playing and it's potential... King asked to see GPS data/testing data in response, and I'm sure his eyes would have lit up when he saw what Sharp's numbers were. He is built for this game-style, and it shows in his performance to date.

Slightly off-topic too, but it also shows in hindsight why Oliver was told he needed to change the way he plays. Oliver would have been like a square peg in a round hole the way the team is playing right now. In the current team, he may have taken Sparrow's spot at centre bounce, but he wouldn't be taking anyone else's. Steele is playing the role Oliver would have potentially played (hence we traded him in), but I reckon he is doing it better than Oliver would have.

According to this 2023 article, at the 2020 draft combine Sharp's 2km time trial time was 5:28 seconds - 20 secoinds faster than the next best result (it's not clear if that means all time or in the 2020 combine).

That's serious time for 17 year old.
