So many positives but Sparrow was an absolute maniac in that last quarter. Like an out of control boulder with vices for arms .

He's been really good the last 2 weeks

SO DO I.

I got on the train at Jolimont by myself but was only by myself for five seconds coz I found myself in a carriage full of Dees maniacs! Crazy beautiful loud Dees peeps and now I have about 30 new friends and no voice.

YEAH THE MIGHTY [censored] DEES!

WE GAVE ‘EM HELL!!!!!

How about Luker in the reserves?

That was so much fun. I went in expecting nothing, but hoping for a good contest. Felt strangely calm throughout the whole game: once we got ahead, I think we only let the lead go once.

We were hungrier, faster and harder and our delivery has improved immeasurably: the whole team was simply marvellous today.

Big up the Cheer Squad again - for the second week in a row, the Demon faithful were LOUD and even a bit feral at times. Love it.

Most of us were down on him because he never took the next step that we all thought he could and tbh he has in the last two weeks. He has been fantastic and what I thought he was capable of but never delivered.

Here’s to this being the standard game for him!

He’s definitely stood up and good on him. I’ve not been a huge fan and the criticism of him could fit in well with one or our issues over the last few seasons which was our younger guys seemingly (real or perceived) stagnated in their development. Sparrow didn’t really improve after the premiership and that’s where the criticism stemmed from.

Like you say, if this is his standard now, then awesome.

First, a confession. Even in the absence of Humphrey and Petracca, I thought we would put up a gallant fight but be outgunned in the end.

The Suns must have been shocked by the Dees' energy, skill levels and willingness to wok for each other, traits which were all too often missing in the latter days of the Goodwin era.

If there is one special shout-out I would give it to Langford, who showed today that he has the potential to become one of the stars of the entire competition.

He took a couple of overhead contested marks today that others - more experienced - would have missed. He's very very good.

Beast

I'm just going off the eye test but I feel that one aspect of Gawn's game that had really taken off again is his tapwork. For a few years I thought it could actually be quite iffy but over the past couple of seasons it seems to have returned to its 2018 best.

I barely see him misdirect his taps anymore.

Also a couple of absolute darts over 50 m.

The one that hit Kolt was very pretty

Low disposal but high impact game today from Langford

He's a weapon

The ability to keep the ball in the forward line ,today was brilliant, and the tackling, and chasing the man brilliant .Broadie Miocheck has brought a toughness to our forward line Roo is playing like a CHF ,and Jake Melsham what a champion bloke and player ,saw him at the Whitten Oval totally banged up could barely move ,it was all about the club and the boys in the VFL encouraging them etc ,and then to come out today to kick the goals when we needed them and that screamer of mark and to go back and slot it that's footy .Kosi and Latrelle champagne football .

I would like to see Langford play more half forward. I feel his first step is too slow for a genuine midfielder, but he has serious forward craft. It might mean he and Culley fight for the same spot, but he presents as so powerful and natural inside and around F50.

Apparently just a hiccup for GC and they will be back to their best next week. Is it because none of the media gave us any chance and now they all look stupid.

They can say that all they like, the reason GC had a ‘hiccup’ is because we didn’t allow them to play their game. We were all over them.

GC and Freo both had 3 chances to draft Kozzi and said no

😳

Best 4 quarter effort this season. May we have many many more to come.

BTW Jack Steele is the best steal of the offseason Saints what were u thinking!

Go Dees.

The Picketts are very talented footballers

Their taste in music is appalling

That’s very funny, and possibly true.

Of course we wouldn’t care if they played the Bay City Rollers after every wonderful goal

Go Dee’s

I dont want to be Debbie Downer, but jeez that bloke is a dead set plonker.

Always seems to crucify, but that might be confirmation bias

But my big issue with him is its like he always wants to impose himself on the game.

No, I can confirm that number 22 should be umpiring the Mt Eliza v Frankston Pines match next week. He has no business being a professional umpire. And I'd argue that the term 'professional' doesn't feel like an appropriate fit for what I saw today.

Bye , bye, baby - a classic!

Hope we sent st kilda a massive choccy box for Easter

Thanks for Steele

My new fave player

How was that blind turn in the last

Like from a movie

Jeez that was fun

I said pre season on here we’re prelim bound and we looked it today

Was down at the skate park in Lennox Head, my boys skating, I was hitting some golf balls, watching the game and saw a little tacker visiting the area with his number 11 jersey on. Wandered over said to his mum and said “hey mate just wanted to say Go Dees!”

What a day

The Tom Sparrow haters have been very quiet these past two weeks. Hope they are becoming extinct

I wasn’t a hater but was very disappointed by his stalled development. The last two weeks have been fantastic, here’s to Spaz holding that form

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
