Watched the replay and I reckon I counted 4-5 Cripps throws several unpaid HTB so when they finally paid thrb2 HTB in the final quarter - even if they were 50/50, it still didn’t make up for everything else that was missed.

good win. Our first quarter jitters are now a problem. That’s 3 games now getting jumped.

Agree with everything you said.

Taking a glass half full approach - I’d rather first quarter jitters than last quarter collapses

Go Dees

Kolt was a Freo supporter.

Nice black eye for Hibberd. Just shows the amount of love and respect these ex players have for Max & Tom & also the club ..it was great to see.

Let’s not criticize those that couldn’t get there, for whatever reason.

I don’t see Oscar in the picture either and we wouldn’t criticize Tom’s brother.

Confession time.

I thought about not doing this. I don't want to make things about me. I don't want to draw attention to myself, if you want to have a pop at me go for it (although it's unlikely I'll read it). It's hard to lie here and although I don't know a lot of people here personally, I do like to share occasionally.

I left the game early yesterday. As with most other people it's something I hate doing. During the Goodwin top 4 runs, footy came first and I blew off a lot of family events to attend games and watch them. That night in early 2023 when Max was injured up in Brisbane I walked out of the restaurant at my brother's birthday and didn't come back. In the last year I've really thought about my relationship with supporting this club and as much as I love it I don't want to be married to it. I'm going to be a parent next month and my mum just finished several rounds of chemo. I see this time as one to still be a good fan but repay the debt a little. There was a chance I wasn't going to make it at all to this game but living close by I did want to make an appearance for Max and Tom.

I left during the third quarter to get home and be with my partner. It wasn't due to losing because as you know we were coming back. I still watched on and despite a big fluff up in the stream just before Langford kicked the go-ahead goal, I loved every bit of it and couldn't have been more proud.

I take being a supporter seriously. I stayed to the end in 08 against Freo, same with Brisbane in 23 when we were nearly 4 goals down with 6 mins to go. Maybe I'm not the biggest and best Demons fan right now but life has it's ebbs and flows.

To those of you there till the end, you're awesome. Truly awesome.

That's all.

Awww Layz. Understandable that you need to dial back physically and even mentally but your heart will always beat true for the red and the blue. That never changes.

Also, ya kept this quiet!

I wouldn't have guessed this was the case, but the centre bounce attendance group suddenly became quite bunched yesterday, whereas in the last two games lots of players had a run through:

Could a better watcher of the game tell me what Kolt's role was? I thought his disposal was really crisp; I liked his game. But I'm thinking he didn't have a major tagging role - is that right? The CBA stats certainly suggest he didn't follow anyone into the middle.

He went to Cripps at stoppage in the first quarter.

The coaching staff quickly realised this was causing an in-balance around the footy.

They moved Kolt to the backline to replace Jiath and Sparrow came into the middle/CBA's.

My mate messaged me after quarter time and asked where I was sitting, i said "thinking of changing seats... to my couch at home". I stayed to the end and enjoyed seeing the loud Carlton fans near me leaving early after putting up with their nonsense most of the first half.

With age comes the understanding that time is our rarest commodity and using it well requires balance.

Thoughts with you for your mum and all the best on the upcoming birth of your Manchester United supporting child

What happened to Crippa the front runner after half time?

I hope Kolt got into him.

Yeah, Voss is copping the heat but Cripps their onfield big gun leader went missing bigtime.

Kudos all those players who turned out for Max and TMac. Just shows the esteem they are held in by their peers. So glad we had a win for the ages in their milestone game.

It's funny because all throughout life if I ever thought of leaving that voice in the head would say "But what if you miss something" haha.

Yes, it surprises even me how much I share of some things but am a vault with others 😜

It's definitely a balancing act. It would have been fun seeing those Blues fans, it was Xmas day for a lot of them in that first half.

Appreciate it Roy! I can just stomach a United supporting child but please don't give me a United and Collingwood double that's all I ask!

Can spot the usuals but there is also Viv Michie, Max King and Michael Evans.

And on our 2 late free kicks.
Payback for for the Semi final when Weitering claimed he touched Tracs long bomb that he missed by a foot.
Swings and roundabouts as far as I'm concerned.
Suck it Carlton.

Thanks for the human post.

Football is amazing (even better when we're winning haha), but life > football.

Congrats on the upcoming parenthood. I thought I cared about stuff, then when I became a parent (x2), I realised I don't actually care about anything tbh. Just my wife, my kids, and our little fam. We are lucky and thankful for our health and our home. Everything else is good and great, but they are the planets that orbit the sun for me.

All the best to your mum, that's really hard. She'll need and love your strength and company right now. The Dees will be right here when things get better and to provide that full world joy in between that makes life so wonderful.

I've acquired a small step-child who has already been indoctrinated as a Magpie, now it is your turn to give me your thoughts.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
