Denis Pagans manager Ron Joseph has confirmed that Denis has been sacked and an offical announcement will be made at a press conference at 2.00pm.

What was it you were saying about sacking a coach early in the week in the other thread Ash? ;)

Chances of Sheedy being re-signed?

Is this what you meant :

I must admit, it would be a strange time to sack him, the Friday before a game. Surely a sacking is best done earlier in the week.

Geez, I'm not bad. I had actually forgot I said that.

As for Sheedy, I really don't know. I just hope we don't cave into the media pressure and make a decision based on a couple of losses. Surely we are showing a little more ticker than the Blues at the moment.

That's another club who will be vying with us for the best available coach in the land. It'll make the hunt interesting.

Sportsbet had Voss and Ratten as the prime candidates to take over at the Blues next year. Two od Demonland's preferred choices.

Reports are that either Ratten or Bradley will step in for the remainder of the season. Big opportunity for Brett.

When Pagan moved from the Roos to the Blues he was considered the best in the business. Any interest in Dennis taking the helm at the Dees?

You would think that they would take Ratten on as there next coach. Shame really, I wanted him at the dee's.

What does everyone think about Pagan coming to the dee's.

He had a bad run at Carlton, but i hardly think its his fault with the draft penalties.

Pagan was shafted by the board who told him to go for youth 2 years into his contract. If they'd told him at the start I think they'd be a fair bit further up the ladder.

Hopefully Carlton continue the trend of winning the week after the coach is sacked/quits and lose their priority picks.

Good for us draft-wise. The Blues had no hope of winning under Pagan and he was gone at year end anyway.

Now with a caretaker there's at least some chance they'll win - look at us and Freo. And if they win they lose pick 1.

That was my first thought. The next thought that sprung to mind was, would we take him? I still haven't decided. Lot's of pros and cons to consider.

He wouldn't be the worst choice, put it that way.

While I can't disagree with Carlton's decision to sack him, I also don't see any other coach doing better. The fact of the matter is, they are horrible, plain and simple. No other coach could do much better in the near future.

I think they'll take Voss. He is a good fit for them, as if he fails, the punters will blame the list, if he succeeds, he's a miracle worker.

MFC does not need either Pagan or Sheedy as next coach as theirs time has passed. We do not need a coach only for 1 - 3 years but we need someone with the potential of being a long time coach to build to a sustainable period of success around the core group of young players on our list. Brocky, Bater, Jonesey, Col Sylvia, Flash, Bell, Bartram, Petterd, Buckley, Frawley, Newton, 2007 draft pick. This group should be 10 year players.

On the other hand MFC can afford our prlonged lack of a premiership to go on much longer & so MFC does not have the luxury of ricking an experiment with an untried coach such as the likes of G Lyon, Voss or N Buckley. So means the choice has to come from other current or recent coaches or assiatants with proven record.

BTW Mark Riley's prospects will be extinguished rapidly if the tam puts in another insipid performance like yesterdays!

3 coaches gone with 6 rounds to play. Surely the pressure is on Essendon and the Kangaroos to make a decision about their respective coaches.

Why would you want to sack your coach when you're 2nd on the ladder?

Play Saints, with no Fev could happen.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
