Just be how great was it to see our coach pleased about our win.

I do not even mind if there are learnings,

Steven spoke very well at the press conference. Described the game as 'less than perfect' but praised the team resilience and desire to win. After the sales pitch since taking the reins he was obviously gratified with the team performance.

Interestingly he mentioned the AFL hoodoo word 'equity' and the potential advantages, teams may have playing the opening round or coming of fresh off byes. Hallelujah 'learnings' was not spoken of, even as a a rapidly, receding faintest of echoes.

One of my favourite parts of the game was also one of the most boring.

When Culley could have had a shot on goal from 50m out with 3 mins to go and I was getting ready to go nuts if he kicked it but in hindsight if he missed they get the ball and have a small glimmer of hope. He goes back and passes it, icing the clock and completely shutting the door.

Looks like we are starting to become well drilled

Big tick for game awareness.

Very simple, but great footy IQ from Culley there.

@Ghostwriter

Welfare check on Ghosty, you alright? Didn't accidentally bite through a Red Bull in the final quarter? All okay?

I for one had a good time watching that game. Like, vintage good time. A good time in a way I haven't since before the darkness.

It was a game that deserved a Dennis Cometti commentary.

I’m all good. Actually I’m more than just good, I’m [censored] flying and it’s not the Red Bulls (they wear off 10 minutes after drinking them). This feeling is priceless. This win mattered more than it should’ve.

Now to watch the replay!

My concern about “Advantage” round has been shot ta pieces by a team effort of entertaining football from our mighty Demons. Gawny is like fine red wine, it gets better

with maturity, so I’ve been told! Go the Mighty Demons ❤️💙

Petty relief rucking, tick.

Not just Petty relief rucking - Petty relief rucking from a key defensive post. Conventional wisdom said that’s impossible and the second ruck must be a forward.

I’ve always wondered why nobody ever did that, but as a footy fan I’m pretty good at gaslighting myself in to believing that if it were possible, coaches who live, eat and breathe footy would give it a crack.

May be something King has pinched from Chris Scott

Sam De Koning did it a bit last year I think

Just watched kings presser.

Said he planned for koltyn to take nas about 3 weeks ago. He rates koltyn & he is the type of player you give a task to & he'll go to work on it. Said they knew nas would go forward so they did some training with kolt as a full back.

He also said the message came at 3/4 time that max said he's good to go to play out the 4th quarter.

We saw something really heartwarming today, Roo took a mark (one of many), and Checkers did a double fist-pump. It was clearly a knee-[censored] reaction and he reined it in immediately. But we saw it. He was like a proud dad.

I’m sure it will change with loses, but he spoke well, was considered, honest, open and articulate. Good first effort

Can we acknowledge Checkerds performance today off the back of no game time at all during the pre season.

Other then the blunder he was really up snd about. Very vocal and directing play and threw his weight around.

Loved that Kingy threw him down back as a spare in the dying minutes of the game.

Goosebumps stuff everytime I watch this.

Reminded me of Hannans goal in 2018.
Even the crowd reaction.
Great kick from Strop to set him up.

I loved the line about ‘the players are the professionals’ in regards to letting players play to their strengths. He’s a good communicator and sounds like he’s able to simplify the game to the players.

In Thailand wife’s birthday, listen to it on via the afl app, congratulations King, players and club as it’s been a tough few years, luv the way they played attacking footy , wrapt for JVR, hearing king presser was refreshing and plays with a straight bat, only wanted to talk on present players, giving players licence and freedom.

He was massive in that last quarter. Willed his way into having a hand in a few goals. Impressed

I thought that Sharp pretty much won us the game with his last quarter efforts!

And as for Kolt… early on, posters were calling for him to be dropped, but what they were failing to notice, was the job he was doing on Nasiah; something that was also a major contributing factor in our eventual victory.

Now let’s see how well we travel!

Tough gig being an Aint.

Outstanding win today, very fun day out at the footy. There will be bumps along the way but it feels like we are back on track after the last couple of seasons.

Roo showed what he can do when the ball is out out in front of him and he doesn't have to wrestle his opponent with the ball dropped on his head. Not many double grabbers today either. I thought Windsor was very good through the middle as well and Max, what more can you say? An absolute stalwart, surely there is no longer a question about the greatest ruck of all time?

Maybe getting rid of the sub is good because no doubt Sharpe probably would have started as the sub & knowing he has a full game now that he can play he can go full speed

Feels fresh and the future looks bright.

The new recruits looked very solid and are great inclusions.

Roo - Breakout game

Culley - Developing into something special

Sharp - New game style suits him

Latrelle - super exciting and so quick!

Mihocek - Very important key piece of the puzzle

Gawn - absolute superstar!

King- Just what we needed , such a great game plan and everyone seems to love him!

Yes I saw that too. Also gave a fist pump from the goalsquare as Roo's kick sailed through. It was heart-warming to see - great signs in terms of his buy-in and embraced the mentor fwd role.

Argument was over a few seasons ago IMO.
I've seen no other ruckman who can just take over a game like he can.
And to think there were those questioning him again pre-season due to the new ruck rules.

I was impressed with CJs game to. Did some nice things.

Having 2 picketts is going to put bums on seats this season. The whole play to get to latrells 1st goal was so exciting
