so do we actually have to had selected a player before cob tmr or just have a spot open then can pick before thursday night maybe ??

Maybe they also see the chance to get Ah-mu listed. He has the ability too.

Tomorrow is the deadline.

If not tomorrow we can carry a spot to the mid year draft. Which might be the option as it’s important we have a mid year draft pick given we’ll be high up the order.

But finalising the May scenario today suggests we’re at least looking at someone.

We have injuries with KPF's.

Jeffo out for a fair while, AJ operation limited pre season and Kentfield - we may know tomorow ??

My worry is that Kentfield's injury is mid/long term so last minute rush to get a list spot for a forward. Speculation.

Any KPF's available. Doubt it?

this firmly rules out any chance of butters next year then

Yeah because Butters has had off field indiscretions on the level of Stephenson… 🤦‍♂️Just because he shows a bit of mongrel and attitude on-field doesn’t mean he’s like that off it. Clubs wouldn’t be throwing 1.5 million a year at him if he was

Paddy Cross seems likely now.

Should be going for a tall though with Kentfield, Jefferson and May all injured/out.

Jaidyn Stevenson anyone?

At least he'd get his teammates involved in the play, with those multi's he'd have on them snagging goals

Bowey aside, May has been my favourite across this decade thus far. Trading him to maximise the Hogan deal was a risky masterstroke and everything about him was so very UnMelbourne. In my mind he was more important to us winning a flag than any other one player, both in getting us there and on the day on one leg. Hoping getting away from the club is good for him to get his life right and good for us to focus on the season with one less distraction.

I doubt we will bring someone straight in and suggest we'll wait for mid season. However if we do Blight also best answer for me to sure up defensive stocks and/or allows us to flip Turner or Petty forward if required. Otherwise whoever we think could be an immediate small lock down defender.

The calls for Ah Mu in my opinion are amusing. He was not good enough to be drafted in a lean year yet "monstering" 2 goals on Jed Adams in a intra sim has people salivating and wanting an immediate investment. Did he play in the VFL against Richmond on the weekend?

Would love to see tairon Ah my developed with soen patience. The same way we seem to be happy to work with jeffo

Think Ah Mu is on Vermont’s list? Also hearing May to East Ringwood so that could be a fun match up out in the east this yr.

I like this move, more half forward depth. Cross has put in some handy seasons as a dangerous scorer in the last couple years, it would be great to see him rewarded with a list spot.

Seems like a type who could do well in King’s new system (and already has familiarity from training with us all preseason)

Plus I think we’d be happy with our KPD stocks anyway - Adams as depth alongside one of Petty/McDonald

KPFs stocks are a risk because of current injuries but we do have depth there in Jefferson, AJ and Kentfield, plus Melksham who can play bigger or Disco who can swing forward

Doesn’t sound fantastic, don’t need another injured player or someone who struggles to play consistently.

Cross a big risk imho but does have the ability — I think a small defender makes the most sense from a needs standpoint but I trust King & Co so they clearly see something in Cross that’s diff than at any other time in his career

Not a risk when he is player 44 on the list, worth the punt

Noooooo! Jacob Blight is the man, and covers a widening gap in big men dept

Excellent mark for his size (low 180's), really nice set shot kick (26.14 in 28 games at Casey).

Does he do enough as a ball winner or at ground level to make it at AFL level? I've never been sold but that can change once a guy develops a tank and confidence to do more, so perhaps that's been the case this preseason.

How is it a big risk 😂 ? He’ll be on a rookie contract, last player on the list, we’re not giving him 5 years at 5 mill

Blight is Tomlinson levels of slow and we've got plenty of options down back as is. We needed forwards. A tall would be nice, but Cross plays taller than he's listed and can fill a medium forward role and provide a bit more aerial presence if we're forced to just go 2 talls due to injuries.

Nothing against Cross who seems like a solid prospect, but I was really hoping we'd take an extra tall.

In the space of one week we've lost May, Jefferson for at least half of the year and potentially also Kentfield for an extended period.

Mihocek has also had injury issues in recent seasons so I'd be surprised if he gets through the whole year unscathed.

Anyone know why the Tiges didn't stick with Blight? I suppose he was mature age when they took him.
