With McVee now gone, wonder whether we will look at CJ as an option to come in and provide some run and dash.

Looks like he can play but can't - pass

Thankfully Hawthorn has focused in on Merrett.

I close mate in the known at Hawthorn said they had offered Melb pick 8 & Jiath for Trac a while back. Trac would have definitely preferred Hawthorn over GC

😬 not convinced. His disposal is horrendous

Yeah, absolute ball butcher. Another Frosty. Looks great in full flight and then mostly turns it over.

I liked CJ when he came onto the scene. It looked like Hawthorn were keen to build a dashing backline, things have changed a bit and with the help of some injuries he finds himself down the pecking order.

I feel this guy has a lot of upside. Even if he stays with the Hawks he provides them with a bit of a drawcard in their list depth.

Would depend how much he cost, wouldn't want to give up too much if anything. If he was healthy and came cheap, it wouldn't be a bad thing if he just became another Jayden Hunt.

Is this to pay us back for trading them Frost? A lot of similarities between CJ-Ball and Frost-Ball.

I've considered this more

Let's offer them a future 3rd round pick if they pay half his contract

Trac's ego is surely taking a hit here

8 + CJ, no Humphrey

Pass. He flatters to deceive. Had him in Fantasy in 2024. Looks good for a qtr, and goes missing for 3.

Give them 7,8 when we get it for Trac. 🙃

Makes sense?

is pick 28 enough to get him?

A pick in the 40’s at best

I think he'd come pretty cheaply. Probably around a third round pick.

Spent a lot of time as the sub this year and injury has been a worry over his career.

Is his disposal as bad as people say?

Love his run and dash but we’re trying to get rid of our poor kicks, not bring more in

3 way trade.

Future 3rd for Clarry goes to Hawks, CJ to us, Clarry to Giants.

Trading Clarry for CJ somehow feels better than for a future 3rd

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
