Itโ€™s not about pick 24

itโ€™s the principle of not giving GC another leg up to get points for a free hit at talented kids

They can go jump

Also pick 24 being the first of round 2 holds value. We can flip that pick on draft night.

Gold Coast can eat [censored]

Ah it's about being petty!

I can get on board with that!

No worries at all, BoBo!

Care to join me, though, to settle on position number 98 and commit to a punt? ๐Ÿ˜‰

(p.s. I think I might have your 97 personally covered! And don't even ask on the Clarry front!)

At this stage your โ€˜unlikely likelyโ€™ scenario is the most convincing to me so Iโ€™ve gone ahead and taken out a high interest $98,000 loan and made a shady bet with shady bookmakers for this outcome.

Weโ€™re gonna be filthy rich Timothy. I can feel it.

Quote :- If we keep Tracc and Oliver , in two years time they will be worth less. Under King as coach one or two of them will be back to normal ( champions) ,isn't that why you bring in a new coach? Sidebottom and the Dangerfield are older than Petracca and Oliver and yet are producing good football . Let's have faith in the new coach and his assistants . I would hate to see Petracca traded the bite us back in the ar.e .

Cal just said on trade radio that he expects us to move up the draft board if we get 7&8.

That makes a lot of sense.

7&8 and holding 24 will be a good outcome.

For all those thinking we are getting a poor deal as itโ€™s a poor draft donโ€™t forget we have JT at the helm and he will be more aware of the quality of talent available at those picks than anyone.

Also given our history of aggressive pick trading there nothing to say they will definitely be the picks we take to the draft.

We now get excited about the up coming draft.

There's a bit of an elephant in the room here.

Maybe we don't want picks at all, certainly not 7 and 8 that will become 11 and 12, because JT says the talent is too thin. Sure, we could try and package 7 and 8 to get up higher, but if Essendon can't get up higher with picks 4 and 5, what hope have we got?

I recall a deal a few years back that involved the sale of a pick or similar. (I think it involved a player as well as a top ten pick and cash)

Is it allowed for GCS to sweeten the pot by making a one off payment of say $500k or 2 x $250k for pick 24. Every little bit of cash helps and GCS like Brisbane get a great deal on those academy players so they may have the cash

Today is all about Charlie Curnow and Zac Merritt

Wednesday morning/arvo the whole day is about Tracc and Humphrey.

Robey perhaps?

Be interesting to see how we go forward on the draft board, as Essendon (currently holding 4 and 5) have said they are willing to offer them both to get into the top 2.

Come back Trac

We still love you

Sorry about all the stuff I said over the past few weeks

Without a player involved or another draft pick?
No, that's not permissible. There's been a concept floated where a club could sell a draft selection for cash (i.e. cap space), but under current rules this is not permissible.

As I recall it involved a fringe player, a solid first round pick and cash. Not sure which way each component went.

Anyway just a thought

7 and 8 will become 11 and 12 so I hope we go up the order for one bite of a better cherry

BUT can we not mortgage a future pick please. We are going to be bad next year.

Yeah there's definitely a few examples of that... Jake Bowes, Brodie Grundie, Treloar, Mitchell (Hawthorn to Collingwood). It's definitely the closet thing we have to pick purchasing as it stands.

Canโ€™t be sure they made an offer of 4 and 5 for 1 or 2, my guess would be they would want 13 back as well in any case, where we could give them both picks with nothing in return which might be more appealing to them.

Interesting to compare the Merrett/Curnow offers to the Trac one if we go down the Pick route.

Should we be asking for more (once line fully drawn through BH)?

I don't get the desire to move up the draft. Unless we're getting pick 1 even the top end looks pretty average.

Sullivan Robey is the desire to move up the draft. Jason Taylor loves him. probably has posters on his wall.

I don't care that much about pick twenty-four. It won't that useful in this draft.

I don't get it either.

Just trying to use logic. I forgot I was on DL for a second.

Where does it say JT loves him?

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

Iโ€™ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we wonโ€™t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything youโ€™d like to ask or say below and weโ€™ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourneโ€™s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time atย Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
