Add Jai Culley to the mids. Think he showed plenty last year to warrant a list spot

Iโ€™d play Culley forward, purely because heโ€™d be a nightmare for defenders

Club enabled this behaviour by picking him round 1 2023 after spending most of the pre season in rehab. For a team with flag aspirations, it was unforgivable. Absolutely unforgiveable and broke the culture. It's what started this whole saga with Trac as well.

Clarrys's career so far has taught him that being a genius at football excuses all other behaviour. No more.

Clarry has been one of my favourites but after his comment today I'll find it pretty easy to move on. Just hope we d9nt get absolutely shafted trying to get these blokes off our books, however my read is that if we do, it will have been the right call to the people closest to the list.

Thank God for Jack Viney. Tommy Sparrow is also due some big midfield minutes

I felt his comments were trivial and nothing to get worked up about, but can see how it rubs people the wrong way.

His little bit of sulkiness does remind me of a traditional lament among child care workers;

"You're mean."

"I'm not mean, you just aren't used to being accountable."

There are so many unknowns right now but we'll know where we stand after the trade period

And if we end up with a swathe of draft picks, there will be a stack of threads about prospective draftees. Hope will return but it will be a rebuild of sorts

If we recruit really well, we can be more than competitive

What we really need is for our experienced players to find their best form. And we've got quite an experienced list with about 16-18 players falling into that category

Yea, its better to say nothing than being honest eh.

One minute he's contracted and then next minute he's being pretty aggressively pushed out the door. Of course hes going to like anyone better than Melbourne. He's upset, angry and yes, tried to be a smart alec. Just as childish to get triggered by an honest comment really.

Im not a huge fan of his generally (he had many years to rectify his total lack of care with the football by foot) but I also get bemused by the hypocrisy around these parts who say mental health is a very important thing and how we all care about it but then takes the slightest comment to send folks into online rage at players. The guy is human and whilst not blameless doesnt deserve all of this nastiness. Seeing the same thing with Judd.

What will prove to be detrimental to the new coach is having players around the place who put themselves before the team and/or don't want to be there.

I would normally expect a new coach to believe he could deal with that in his first year. If it doesnโ€™t work during the season then you act by dropping recalcitrants to the VFL and then out the door if lessons arenโ€™t learnt. I accept that is old school management.

Forgive me for not keeping up but where has the club said anything about paying $700k? Surely that would be negotiated

Surely that's come from his manager (via discussiona with the club)

i might have heard it wrong, but mitch cleary was sayng we might accept a pick in the 70s for clayton

that's insane, particularly if we are paying any of his salary for the next half decade

7 minutes ago, Dr. Gonzo said:

It's almost impossible to keep anything quiet these days in footy

And you're right, Gonzo. Oliver's manager would need to be told about the payment arrangement as he would need to liaise with the other clubs about Oliver's availability (and his salary)

And the various journo's would have relationships with the player managers so therefore, the info can leak out

But $700k as a starting point? On the surface it seems a tad dramatic and could reduce the wriggle room in a trade

A more open-ended approach could have been that the MFC would be prepared to subsidise part of his salary ... if needs be

Depends what we get back / how much they pay of Clarry's salary.

I keep hearing that GWS won't be forthcoming with anything decent, coming back our way

I reckon Clarrie will end up there but what we get back in a trade is up in the air

What a circus this has becomeโ€ฆ.. itโ€™s embarrassing both for player & club, to think 4 years ago he & Trac were part of the 3rd qtr blitz to the current state is heartbreaking & very sad! Seen some dark times with MFC and this is one of them, not defending the players but just reinforces so many poor decisions were by all which has brought us to this position. Will take a very strong King ,Guerra to clean this up along with strong leaders with the playing group to start a new chapter.

Saying โ€œsomeone with poor impulse control and big emotions is ADHD in a nutshellโ€ isnโ€™t really accurate and itโ€™s worth being careful with that kind of shorthand.

Mea Culpa, could have worded that better. Or better still, not posted at all.

Apologies, and thanks for the measured response and clarification.

These creeps just play all the same line. If MFC reckons he's down in the low layer of required, why should we, other clubs, offer anything substantial either.

It did seem very petulant, not sure if it was a bad attempt of a joke, If he said โ€˜at the momentโ€™ and laughed at the end it would have slid through. Divorce best for all parties though.

Vastly different to Charlie Spargo's comments about his former Club. Spargo was all class. Unfortunately Clarrie has not just let the Club down including those players who were trying to support him but he has let himself down as well. It is all very sad and I don't think will end well.

Ah yeah this... Club IS A DISGRACE. King, Guerra, Green, A LOT TO ANSWER FOR!! but the biggest disgrace is the supporter base out there that are Bagging the second best player since FLOWER . Demonland should shut up shop given the comments of many who have ZERO appreciation of his issues which lets face it folks ... we all have! I almost hope he goes to Pies just to prove many here and Demon Hierarchy wrong.

Just pitiful really and I'll say it now.. KING and Co have lost me already GGF! TRAGIC

Just cannot believe the number of so called supporters who have made such spiteful and demeaning comments of a champion footballer. They talk about him as if he was a mass murderer. Trust they will have blacked out his image on the pictures of our premiership team by now. Speaking of club culture it didn't do Richmond any harm when it won its multiple premierships.

What we get back for Oliver is starting to like three fifth of FA and we get to pay half his salary to boot! I am reading a book at the moment by Mick Herron of Slow Horses fame, called โ€œClown Townโ€! Very apt I think.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
