For Clayton to not even say Goodbye to the Demon Supporters, in any way, I consider to be very poor form

The Club has obviously looked after him, beyond the usual boundaries for a number of years, for a very average return, since signing the long contract

But Jack Steele is an excellent replacement..

One day Clarry will regret how he left the MFC

Totally agree. Immature attitude to a club that gave him everything, including one of the biggest contracts in AFL history.

😩😩 Clarrie didn’t thank the fans 😩😫

So what? He doesn’t have to thank anyone.

Are fans hurt by this? Probably not. The absence of a thank you is not causing harm to anyone.

Then what’s the problem? It’s not a good look? Who gives a fat rat’s about how it looks.

Would people be happy with a generic, insincere thank you from him? Coz that’s likely all that’d be offered.

People are so [censored] judgy.

Aren’t you being judgey now?

You can’t have your cake and eat it

And as far as l know this is a forum where people can have an opinion about certain players that have left the club in an unsavoury manner

As you are

Well then, we all are, aren’t we.

I’m certainly not crying over the lack of a thank you from Clarrie. Nor am I bagging him for the same. He plays for another club now, what does any of this matter?

is he training the house down yet?

have the headlines about Melbourne letting him go for a pack of peanuts started yet?

have the jungle drums about us paying his salary started yet?

What is clear by this thread is that he’s left a bitter taste for many supporters who won’t see any relief for a long time. Football is a passionate game.

Pity that you denigrate a champion of this ckub

Especially when the poster clearly knows nothing about Clarrie, who he is and what makes him tick.

I can certainly see merit in the argument/view that Clarry should have said goodbye to his fans. Many of us supported him throughout, and particularly during trying times. Some of us wrote to the club to ask/ensure we wrap our arms around him. We did a lot for him but I think it's also fair to say the club has also made some mistakes. And we don't know everything. So, yeah I would have loved for him to say thanks and catch ya later.

BUT

Not everyone is the same.

Clarry does not strike me as a big talker/vocal type (and certainly do not see him posting much on socials), so truthfully, in the little I know of him, it does not surprise me in the least that he has not penned a thoughtful goodbye.

Given the unideal circumstances of his departure, it might all be a bit for raw for someone who seems to be very emotional and is likely still processing it all. Probably still feels hurt, whether or not all of it is valid is irrelevant. It's how he feels.

Maybe one day, when it all settles, he'll write us a goodbye/thanks. If he does, great. If he doesn't, it won't change a thing, at least for me. Still my favourite player to ever wear our colours. I appreciated the human, vulnerable side to him more than anyone else, and nothing will take away from the Bang Bang Bang... BANG. A club legend.

I wish him well, and who knows, maybe one day he'll come back and chat with us. Seems like he'd be good for a little yarn in a quiet setting without the cameras and leeches.

Genuinely who cares about this dude.. good riddance i say.

Just be thankful we dont have to put up with his [censored] childish and immature behaviour any longer.

More excited about the new wave of talent and culture reset this club is going through.

He uses social media regularly how hard is it seriously club and fans supported him through a lot,

It’s not difficult to say “ not the ending I wanted, thanks to those who supported me and gave me the opportunity. It’s time to start a new chapter which I look forward to”

It’s not hard to do, I’m not put out in anyway but sick of supporters making excuses it’s poor form but doesn’t surprise me.

Good luck to him, I’ll never forget the player he was or what he achieved but he tarnished his legacy at the club a little

I agree with this, couldn’t care a less who he thanks, social media is probably half the reason Clarry went off the rails

We need to move on & support what we’ve got, not the primma donnas on millions of dollars carrying on like peanuts

Ghostwriter just did Billy

Personally I'm not fussed either way. He doesn't play for the Melbourne Football Club so I have no real interest in how he's travelling. For those that want to keep fawning over the pair of them they have this and Trac's thread to comment on whilst the rest of us can give them a miss. I think it's all a bit pointless telling people to move on who clearly don't want to though.

Look I'm on Gawny's side of things, I hope he's able to sort his life out because it would be a monumental waste to see it go down the drain.

My only gripe is that I get vibes of him blaming environment and other people, he needs to take accountability for his mistakes. It's going to be far harder seeing him play against us than Trac for me.

Clearly you do. You wouldn’t be posting about it otherwise.

I thought this was poor, could still thank the fans in a statement.
The crowd got around him a few times in season 2025.
I know he's hurt but its disappointing.

AND we host GWS in Alice Springs in 2026, so assume we play them in NSW in 2027, might be a whilst before he's in front of us at the G again.

We actually haven’t played GWS in NSW since 2014.

We’ve only ever had 6 away games against them in their 14 year history, and 4 of those have been at Manuka. Not sure if it’s a record but we’ve only played them at Giants Stadium twice ever.

But you're happy to pay 700k for him to play in the reserves?

the new Sheriff in town laid out the ground rules and CO said 'I'm off'

Says it all for me. He has let us down repeatedly in the past 2 years. What's changed that is going to make hime play better?

Hmm. I was thinking a new club might sting him back into line. But then again a new coach and a near-ultimatum to shape up or be consigned to the reserves is probably the equivalent anyway.

💯 it’s disgraceful behaviour from Clarry and shows a complete lack of respect to supporters, players and staff at the footy club. This will tarnish his standing at the Demons which is sad

I hope he earns his spot and not just given to him...

The bloke is seriously bitter and dislikes the club, which speaks more to his immaturaity than anything else. His actions were covered up the Club for an extended period and he was offered heaps of support. He threw much of that back in the face of the Club.

I won't go into details, because I don't want to put the owners of this site at risk, but I can tell you that his behaviour in his last weeks in Melbourne (te city) were true to recent form, and made those like me, who had defended the vicious rumours others spread online, look very silly!

He is a simple kid who hasn't dealt with personal issues well. You can blame it on his diagnosis if you want, but from what I know, which is plenty, the Club is far better off without him. Not saying that he won't be a great player for GWS, but it's a ticking time bomb. Leopards like Oliver rarely change their spots.
