His Instagram story from this evening tells you everything you need to know about the company he keeps and how out of control the poor bloke is. No surprise that Harmes is the only MFC connection farewelling him

What was the story?

He share two stories attacking Tom Morris for his comments about Steele being a better character than Oliver, and then shared an image with Harmes, Ugle-Hagan, and some randoms.

The photo with Ugle-Hagan I don't mind, but the posts about Tom Morris were in poor taste. If I were GWS I'd definitely be telling him to tone it done. He's been a bit unhinged lately.

He's definitely turned me off a bit during the trade period.

Thanks.

I dunno. I think if my character was being called into question by someone who's been sacked for saying sexist and homophobic slurs id be pretty angry and I'd probably clap back pretty hard too. How does Morris have a job again?

Lol big Saturday night for old Clazza it seems.

Enjoy GWS.

So, if Clayton ends up of the rails in Sydney, out of the MFC inner sanctums control so to speak, surely they have protected themselves in a contract sense or get out clause?

It still baffles me how players can still leave an organisation or be ontraded for off field issues and still have to foot the best part of a 1 million dollar contract.

Considering Melbourne clearly didnt have any behaviour clauses in the initial contract, I presume it just remains the same with a few minor adjustments from the Giants.

Something tells me Giants may have underestimated the petulant child they're getting.

They would have known, but for $200k he is worth the gamble on there end. It's a long off season.

Yeah, I also don't care to read what he is up to. And agree it is now up to GWS to care for him.

But I care about him as a demon champion and care about his well being whoever he plays for.

I can't imagine the upheaval in his life: emotionally outed from his employer, a new employer, new state, change homes, delay in getting to know new teammates, new work environment, spiralling career etc.

Any of those changes are stressful let alone all happening simultaneously under challenging circumstances. Especially for someone who seems emotionally fragile and reliant on the rigid structures of an AFL club but being the off season and in transition those aren't there. Nor are the welfare support systems he had at mfc.

Hopefully, his manager, the AFL and GWS quickly find a mentor like Gawn (Mumford for Jesse) and put in place the welfare support and stability Clarry needs.

Oh didums, he had all those structures under the MFC and chose to still act like a petulant child while taking millions of dollars off the club.

I guess he’ll now be off overseas on a months holiday, then off to training as a professional footballer & playing XBox in his spare time

Was a brilliant footballer at our club & my favourite player but so relieved we’re getting a fresh start

So excited for this new chapter with a coach who will mentor players before mollycoddle them

The world needs caring people like you and others Luci. Don’t take my response the wrong way. I understand this point of view.

To be clear, I don’t wish him any harm. I don’t wish any ex-demon any harm. I hope he has a long and happy life. Ditto Trac

But I don’t think it’s a coincidence that all our female posters have a strong mothering instinct towards Clarry. The big child. He can’t control his impulses poor thing. He has a condition.

The rot set into our club when Clarry went off the rails in 2023 and carried on like a spoilt brat. He turned the club upside down. That was the start of our demise. As much as he was a huge part of 2021 he is also a huge part of why we have massively under-achieved since.

Brendan McCartney knew what was needed to get the best out of Clarry. It wasn’t all about care. Some hard assed truths and tough love were needed a well. It seemed to work for a while

That we should somehow feel sorry for a millionaire who has to move to a new city, get used to a new environment etc. just blows my mind. He has so many advantages plenty of other 28 year olds don’t have. I have no sympathy for him.

He’s 28. He’s a grown man. He has challenges. But who doesn’t? He should sort his [censored] out and start behaving and acting like a man.

Good luck GWS

I agree with that.

But I can still feel sad and compassionate for Clarry and wish well for him.

Fair enough. I didn't doubt you wish Clarry well.

I will always rue what happened from mid 2023 on. While Clarry may have been a factor there were many others in all levels at the club and they compounded as time went on.

I guess I'm happy to let that period go and that we now get a fresh start.

And fulfill my greatest footy wish: See a Demon premiership, live !!!❤️💙

It all went pear shaped mid 2023 when he did his hammy/tendon or whatever. Wet game went back on did more damage, was out for what, 10 weeks? Lost the plot, social life derailed.

Tracc's issues seem to be sheeted home to his medical treatment as well.

Something went wrong in 2023 and the club under Pert/Roffey and Goodwin were ill equipped to manage it.

So has he actually made it to giants HQ yet? Or is he just mozying around?

I know he obviously spoke to them last week but what's he doing? I mean we've seen trac plastered over the media in his gold coast jumper & doing video messages for them but where is Clayton?

Also what he said about Tom, fair point & he's not wrong.

I don’t know how you can change a contract without making the initial one obsolete . I thought the deal is you have to accept the contract as it stands or negotiate a new one which would render our obligations in the contract null and void.

Somehow I’m starting to doubt whether Oliver can last the full tenure of his contract.

I'm still confused why we didn't frame the conversation with him around his role next season with the rider that "we're happy for you to look for a fresh start, but we're not paying any of your contract". I just can't see him not agreeing to tear up the contract and have a completely new one with GWS.

I know his manager would have done everything he could to stop him from doing that, but would he have succeeded with this particular client?

We could have always negotiated back from that position, but we seemed to start at the opposite end and now we're paying ridiculous money all the way to 2030. Such poor management.

Clearly Oliver is not coping too well mentally at the moment. Hope he is able to get the professional help he needs and is able to get back to baseline.

Having said that, he is no longer the MFC’s problem.
