Farewell Clayton Oliver

Featured Replies

In hindsight the long-term contract was poor however I support the MFC not any one player and will trust they know what they are doing with Oliver. Alot more than the so-called supporters on here.

I blame the club for the contract, but the demise of Oliver over the last three seasons is due to his own behaviour. He is a club legend, BUT not from what he has delivered to the CLUB since the start of 2023.

We have to lift our standards and thus why anyone who has dropped thir lip can be moved on and bringing in Stelle lifts the standards and culture.

I think the player management by the club in this instance. To allow the situation to deteriorate to this extent is appalling .

We are losing a 4 times Bluey winner premiership winner for what return and paying how much in salary

Appalling does not do it justice ,

I for one will be glad to see him not jogging behind the play when we lose the ball in the middle any more

If that’s true it’s absolutely shameful. You couldn’t have kept him for one year and seen how he went with King then traded him for a junk pick next year? Trac’s salary and what we were planning to pay Judd going off the books isn’t enough?

Nup that’s trash. GAGF Tim Lamb.

What ever damage was done to the fabric that cocooned the love-tribe causing the fractures and player grievances ; this was done prior to the new leadership at the club.

They're just left to mop up the mess and start to put things back together.

Not everything was salvageable indeed like a rose bush the pruning needed to be serious.

Yes its a damn shame much of this has had to play out but imho players carry the same responsibility as does stewardship. In life you have to realise it's your life, guard and guide it well.

Melbourne can do better and hopefully its underway.

Let’s keep a player that is going downhill and I dare say takes so much energy of many at the club. Time to move on

It would be nice if we could turn Oliver into Steele. Use the pick and the saved salary and have the Saints pay Steele some.

Nailed it!

I wonder how badly we were screwed. Hope he succeeds at GWS and proved that we made the wrong decision

Can I just say… regardless of how this turned out… what an out and out champion he was. Helped us win a flag and put the pride back into being a dee. Will be sadly missed. All the best Clayton. Thanks for the best memories i’ve ever had as a long time supporter.

Thanks for the memories, I hope being in Sydney helps him turn his life around. A legendary footballer, troubled human. Nothing but love for him.

Absolute joke of a club clearing a premiership club champion for a bag of chips. Lamb and the MFC can GAGF. I’d like to know who is going to pick up 30 disposals in the midfield next year.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
