As it stands right now, I'll be quite happy to take picks 7 & 8 for a few reasons

1) As good as player as he's been, Trac is going to be 30 going into next season and unless he gets his confidence back, he won't be a match winner (good to very good but not great) ... plus, he wants out and is on a huge salary

2) I understand it's a shallow draft but any number of top players emerge from down in the ranks in the draft after not being highly rated as juniors. Late developers or just surprise packets

3) We've got Jason Taylor who's strike rate over the years has been excellent (85% hit rate if we go right back?) ... not much escapes him so if we hand him 2 top 10 picks, I'm confident that he'll pick a couple of goodin's

Best case scenario is we manage to draft 2 top level midfielders with the 2 top picks

The cream on the top is if we can somehow get hold of a decent pick from GWS for Oliver ... hmmmm. Or maybe a player from them that isn't getting much of a go? You never know

I’m hearing BH is gluten free.

This was not catered for and the deal is off

Ok. It's hard to talk with so many ears around, however the below points are what I gathered:

Dees believe Bailey will ask for a trade

He has committed to us as long as GC buy in on it

Dees have offered a very attractive package

Dees are trying to call GC bluff of not trading Bailey

Dees are confident but can't say with certainty that GC would let him go

We have had many attempts at Bailey and Bailey knows this

Meeting in Maffra went well. Worlds best litres apparently

Dees in contact with Baileys manager

Wants to play under King

Has a few close people at our club that he knows

Thanks for sharing the update — it’s appreciated, even if it doesn’t seem to add much that’s new at this stage...

7 and 8 would be a good return

but snaring humphrey would be better

I'd say to Suns, its Trac or Humphrey but not both

i reckon they'll relent

show some cajones Dees

7 and 8 last year would've been a good return.

7 and 8 this year doesn't enthuse me at all.

I was given his book, I used it as toilet paper after he announced GC and we weren’t given Humphrey.

May his pasta, like his goal kicking, be forever overcooked

Awesome @Demon Forever . Any sense whether he’ll go public with a trade request / stating his intentions to get to Melbourne?

Why this call for the MFC to go public - apart from making us feel better? Tim Lamb is dealing with Craig Cameron and they, in turn, are dealing with Petracca and Humphrey and their managers. The other bargianing chips are draft picks. Each side will have their own "red lines" driven by their own beliefs/requirements, etc... This goes to the wire I reckon. I can't see how going to the press is somehow going to pressure Cameron to do a deal he was never prepared to do?

He is not saying that the club goes public, only that Humphrey’s camp to go public with the desire.

It would only help to move the needle. If GC are dug in but they get pressure from the outside about a player who wishes to go home it may move the club.

Give me The B Bear or give 7 and 8 for Tracc.

No picks going back. Get stuffed. If you want Tracc AND all your cheat code free first rounders... find another way to get the points.

Its Humphrey vs losing one of Uwland Patterson or Petracca...

Whos got the biggest balls in the next 2 days???

NO NO NO, JUST NO!

Well, we've been backed into a corner with these 2 blokes, Picket

Everyone knows we want them both off the books so therefore, our bargaining power isn't strong

We could stand firm and then what? Both come back and continue to put in below average performances for A grade, elite money?

It's been like that for 3 years with Clarrie and who knows if Petracca will ever get back to his match-winning ways

The club needs to start over again with a revamped list. The window will open again, down the track (we'll need to nail our recruits from here on in)

Gee... some of you are finally understanding negotiations.

This isn't about faux [censored] contests... or pretend bravado. It's about knowing what you have, what you want , what you understand to be a fair trade and sticking fast to it.

We have a player they want. Is as simple as that. No one's dancing in the shadows its very simple. Pay what's fair or he goes nowhere.

GC have NO upper hand in this so dont treat them as though they do. Respect their position..but suggest they respect ours.

I don't think Clarry could walk back in now and play for us. Thats gone. Tracc can.

He may well want away in late 26.. but he would play 'properly ' for us in 26 if no deal is done.

What you say to GC now is ... " thanks for the discussions but your offers are unacceptable" At this stage Christian will remain a valued member of the MFC and we look forward to his contribution to our forthcoming season.

You're not bluffing, just stating the situation.

Then walk away.

If GC want Tracc... they WILL ante up.

Melbourne has nothing to lose. GC...hmmm

Sorry Bub, don’t agree.

The moment you tell a player they are welcome to “explore their options” and they choose a club they’d like to go to, you do lose the upper hand.

Gold Coast are well aware Trac wanted out last year.

We can pretend Trac can come back all we want…but it ain’t gonna happen.

Therefore when it comes to the crunch, Gold Coast may well in fact have the upper hand and we’ll get what we’re given to the best of our ability.

He's welcome to explore.

That's it.

Tracc is a very different situation from Oliver.

Yes , Tracc wanted out last year.... and what colours did he wear in 25..

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
