Exactly. If that's something he values, there's a hardly a better option than the club that's about to lose a first-picked pure midfielder and midfielder-forward, and will very soon have to reckon with another staple pure midfielder's decline.

I do too. Yes, Petracca has become a little bit iffy in certain contests - but I think that got a bit overdone in 2025 and didn't massively affect his football. His balance and ability to extract a ball from a contest or scrimmage, and then use his power to break into space, is as good as it ever was, which is absolutely first rate.

His kicking is a problem, but I bet it's not anywhere near as bad a problem in an up-and-about Gold Coast side as it was in a flat, in-a-rut Melbourne side.

I REALLY want us to get Humphrey in this trade, but I don't expect it to instantly look like a stunning result for us.

Yeah, but is an average 18yo you draft this year going to help you win a premiership any more than a great one is next year?

If they were dealing with just picks for Hawthorn and Collingwood that is. Perhaps it might need to be a combo of picks and players from those clubs if they were to trade for Humphrey's.

Plus also, I think alot of clubs these days take the view of playing a long game as well while going for a premiership. They want to start contending for one now, but it might not come for another 3 or 4, so that 18yo you draft next season might be starting to peak when you're in the window. Asides from that, I think clubs are just always looking to bring in young talent if it's available to have a sustainable, balanced list, like us getting top round picks for Dogga when he left.

Gold Coasts preference is probably not to loose Humphrey's, but if they figure he's gone in a few maybe getting the best deal might look like a few first and/or second rounders or something in next seasons draft as opposed to Trac now.

Fair comment re BH ... but his career and abilities are STILL building. Would be reasonable to suggest his midfield time and efforts would increase ??

I think we know Tracs abilities and ceiling...and he's beneath them. Might regain who knows.
