Would’ve been interesting to see who blinked first. Think GC would’ve walked away honestly.

100% they would’ve walked away.

Leads me to believe Trac’s position at the MFC was untenable going forward.

Let's see how Trac goes against an actual team before we make a call on the trade. Witches hats would have been more competitive than Geelong tonight.

I'm betting he'll go ok

In fairness Geelong are playing like a genuinely bottom 3 team.

This is the softest performance i have seen from them in a very long time.

This is ehat life after Dangerfield and Cameron looks like..

Really hope so, I despise them

There’s the rubber stamp we need to convince anyone the kid can play

I read it the opposite. The suns were already doing a victory lap about “they biggest signing since Ablett” I don’t think the deal was ever going to fail to be done, i just don’t think Melbourne accepted the picks until they were sure Humphrey wasn’t going to be able to force his way out.

we got 3 first round picks so we weren’t exactly low balled

Adams will get delisted by end of the year.

He isnt much chop DZ. Got torn apart by an 18 year old VFL player only a few weeks back.

If Adams is playing it means we are injury depleted down back.

Unfortunately agree

This was pretty obvious to everyone. As soon as you give a player the grace to look around you lose most of your leverage.

I watched his post match interview and thought he looked like pre 2024 Tracc, clear eyes, friendly, effusive about Humphrey his new team mates and new coach. He admitted that he had been working on his kicking and it showed. Good luck to him.🤬

It was good that he finally got around to working on his kicking – I always thought there were too many distractions here.

Probably slightly unfair. It’s more likely that he now has people leading that he can kick to…

They played like witches hats...is it too early to write them off?

...maybe they have hit the wall (at last).

Forget about BH. No chance. Apart from anything else, we're no longer a destination club.

And I’m sure Tracc will get in his ear. You can already see the blossoming bromance between the two of them.

Impact per possession wise I think he'll be the best in the comp when the year is out.

It’s amazing the difference when your teammates like you, like having you around and there’s no resentment. It translates onto the field.

Good start to the season, Blues and Cats thrashed.

Remember Geelong had the softest run in the league last year that allowed them to finish top

They are coming back to earth quickly

DZ your emoji sums up a fair bit of the sentiment. Footballers like Petracca don’t fall out of trees every day.

An astute observation DS17. Our forward line conundrum of ; was it the chicken before the egg or was it egg before the chicken?

Some quality inclusions, Mihocek and Kentfield plus JVR’s positively re-aligned trajectory. Positioning, leading and demanding the pill lace out. Allied with improved, express quality delivery from defence thru midfield surely is the King’s imprimatur. How long will that take to embed? Not expecting instant karma, but the overall projection should be at base camp to solidify performance and regain equilibrium. Before the ascent up the AFL mountain.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
