The Bailey Humphrey Thread

Well there goes any chance of getting Humphrey

Weโ€™re clearly not willing to play hardball over Petracca which is incredibly disappointing

The thing is the AFL need a few big trades to go through on the last day for their Fox Footy rush to the trade finish line. We are going to need to be patient I reckon... as difficult as that is.

Never seen a melt over trading a 30 year old for two top ten* pix, quite extraordinary

Cheers Ralphy.

There's still hope!

We can only play hardball if Humphrey starts to really agitate for the move and thereโ€™s no sign yet that he will.

If we accept 7 and a lower pick I will be very annoyed. Better to keep Trac than settle for that.

Thanks Trac. I mean Tom ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™„

I wish Trac and Humphrey both had serious managers and not some Temu branded agents

The less I hear about a BH's trade in the media, the better I feel about it happening.

(Although I have had a couple of alcoholic beverages this evening - so feeling mellow and positive)

If this doesnโ€™t work out and Trac goes for picks, I canโ€™t decide whether Iโ€™ll feel bad for the new MFC regime or if Iโ€™ll be annoyed with them.

I get that our plummeting membership numbers these last two years make it financially unviable to come out and say weโ€™re doing a rebuild and that finals arenโ€™t feasible. But coming out and fully saying that finals are the expectation only to then turn around and ship out two of our most significant players for (potentially) only picks isโ€ฆnot great.

I think a lot will definitely play out over the weekend.

Could hear more come Monday.

If not, the two early picks is still a good gain.

I hoping Toad Morris does not have the same links within the club he once had.

You seem to be the one melting over peoples thoughts and feelings, A.

I'm just loving everyone tagging @demonforever who hasn't been on this forum since 2013.

If @demonforever didnโ€™t want to be lured back with a bunch of off season tags 12 years later then maybe โ€˜foreverโ€™ was the wrong choice

Love or hate Tom Morris he gets very good mail and is often close to the mark.

If his latest tweet is on the money then we can kiss the dream of Bailey goodbye.

Tweet also confirms that GC need one of 7 or 8 for their points and need to go hunting for more picks.

As expected weโ€™ll get hosed in this deal. Members should be furious.

With 5 days still to go.. some need to be more patient. Most likely going to be the last trade of the final day ๐Ÿ˜…

Iโ€™m going to have to rearrange how Wednesday looks work wise.

I don't agree. He had no clue about the meeting around the tan, or the meeting today. I've been on here for over 20 years and I know a credible source when I see one and Demon Forever is credible.

I suspect all Morris has been told is that talks are ongoing and that GC are amenable to offering picks 7 and 8. And in his mind, that's a likely trade. For me, he's getting his info from the Suns, not the MFC.

Probably a good time to start sussing out draft prospects sadlyโ€ฆ

At least this doesnโ€™t mention pick 24 going back the other way. Too good a pick to give to GC for points.

And then weโ€™ll probably try trade picks 7&8 for west coast pick 2 and 13

Why would West Coast do this deal? Iโ€™ve heard this mentioned and I donโ€™t understand what the benefit is

Thatโ€™s true

And donโ€™t get me wrong - 7 and 8 is a good deal for Trac and I have no doubt JT would pick two high quality players at that range

I just wish we could finally get a big fish over the line and itโ€™s frustrating that we seem to have a golden opportunity here to do so, but we canโ€™t convince a guy who obviously wants to come home to push to get out

Just stay tuned. It's far from over

Ralph is on the money here. Probably made it sound like we would be happy with 7 and 8 which is not the case. Dees still pushing extremely hard for Bailey and more work will go into this weekend.

Do wonder if Rory Atkins and Rhett McLennan gets involved now.

Former teammate of Humphrey and a former under 18's coach........

Extroadinarily poor negotiation tactic discussing fall back options with a club that is wanting you to blink first.

The only way we were ever any chance to get Humphrey is if the Suns believes a. We wouldn't accept any other deal and B. they wanted Trac more than him.

Sadly i don't think either of those things are true

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
