Following an injury-interrupted start to the season, McVee struggled to maintain the standard he established in 2025 as he pursued an expanded role within the team structure. He remained a firm fan favourite and the club had hoped to negotiate a new contract with the former rookie selection from Western Australia, whose partner, Lily Johnson, plays for Melbourne's AFLW side. Those hopes were dashed when he expressed his desire to return to his home state and play for Fremantle. Like all players who have worn the red and blue and are leaving this year, we wish him well in the future.

Awkward 😬

Who?

Disappointed in the Judd, hope he doesn’t end up regretting the move to Dockers, he had earnt a niche in our best 23 and sad to see him go.

Disappointing, but a direct trade for Jackson would be very just compensation 🤗

This guy is a big loss. Such a solid, dependable footballer. Hoping we get the value he brings to our side in return for him.

He was a long way from solid & dependable this year. Apart from 2 or 3 games he was loose, hesitant & sloppy. Should of been dropped.

Do you reckon? Maybe it's rose coloured glasses or him being traded has made me want a greater return, but I feel like he's that really solid, hard to beat player that provides value in both attack and defence.

He did miss the first chunk of this season with a bad hammy so maybe that impacted his play this year.

Big loss.

I hold nothing against Judd and wish him the best but it is difficult when you discover someone, put the time into them only to see them depart. That is the sport though.

I hope we get a decent return.

Come on… the everyday layman suffers worse than these $300k average wage footballers who often travel or stay overseas, away from loved ones for long periods of times. Commodity traders as an example, travel so often that they can go 5-6 months away from their home country.

My mate is Global Business Development Manager for a service company and only has a chance to visit family and friends in Australia 2 months a year.

McVee can’t survive domestic 3-4 hour flights? 😂🤣

Players have too much power in the AFL.
