@demoncat I am a huge fan of this young guy. Footy smart. Great mark. Tough. Determined.

Whilst I think he goes early , agreed there’s a very small chance he falls to us … available picks if … 1 Duursma 2 CDT 3 Robey 4 Grlj 5 Sharp 6 Cumming … then Dees 7 X Taylor 8 any of Farrow/Dovaston/J.Lindsay/Nairn

That’s the pathway

I think Cal also said on Gettable this morning that Essendon might not be as interested in him / might prioritise midfielders (someone may have to fact check that for me though)

So if Richmond take Grij the pathway for Taylor to fall to us really opens up

He’s one of the players I’d love most. Damaging kick, strong body and tough/competitive as anyone. Can see him being much more than just a half back.

What position would he play at AFL level?

191cms and not a super solid May type unit, so wouldn't be a key defender. He projects as a third tall intercept type like Lever? Might be a bit of a tweener if he doesn't grow taller.

The sort of damaging athletic utility the Hawks have 6 or 7 of and quickly becoming the modern prototype.

Vlaustuin?

Sicily, Stewart, Vlastuin, Weddle, Howe. Not a tweener, there's a very defined role for him at AFL level.

Gun. Realistically probably the best player we could get at 7/8. if he slips.

Very happy!

could also grow a bit more yet. But not for May's role. Good choice, hopefully he grabs it and makes the most of the opportunity.

Love reading back so many people saying they'd love this guy but he wouldn't be still on the board...GOT HIM!

Very very happy with this. Tough, skillful and super competitive. A gun

Thrilled!

I had been keen on him but assumed he was no real chance to be available for us.

And I'm setting my auto-correct to turn Xavier Taylor into 'Xtra' and everyone else just has to live with it.

I wasn’t sure initially, but after watching lots of footage I’m stoked we landed him. Was hoping for a Taylor and Sharp double. At least we got one.

Taylor looks a future gun and is a super determined kid. Excited he’s in red and blue!

Im hoping the comment “was good to get best on field and also off field” was just a young bloke trying to be cool in front of his friends. I immediately thought “ohh you didn’t need to say that”.

I reckon the most guaranteed player in the draft is Xavier Taylor. I rate him in the best 5 available in this draft. Absolutely looks and plays like a footballer. Smart. Composed. Has Aggression. Excellent judge of a mark. He is a lock for 200 games in my view. Think “Disco Turner” type. If you push him, expect it back two-fold. Whilst he’s not a player we need, he would be a very good addition. In my opinion he simply couldn’t be passed up by the Tigers or the Bombers.

Pick 11. Xavier Taylor. 👏👏👏

Great news. Happy days. As I said, he got the footy ability and toughness to be an excellent player. He doesn’t take a backwards step

Perhaps avoid bunking him with Maysie at the pre-season camp

What a lad!

Hes got that Dusty Martin smugness a d arrogance about him and i bloody love it!

Has cult figure all over him and to be honest I have felt that over the years we have lacked that on field strut because Goody wanted us to be boring and bland along side the game plan.

Dawn of a new era and both Taylor and Pickett will be huge for us moving forward.

He sounds like a lad, not sure if that would’ve pleased Kingy and the board 🤣

To be fair, Luke Hodge sounded similar in his draft yr
