RICKY PETTERD

Recommended Posts

Said on MMM by Dr Smooth that he actually lost consciousness in the medical rooms under the interchange bench and that he was to be taken via ambulance to the Epworth but they decided to wait for a MICA Ambulance as he was in such a bad way. I have to admit I really felt for his family who may have been listening via the internet - the MMM team kept going on about how bad it was - must be shocking for his family to be so far away hearing that.

His season is more than likely over but I just want to wish his a speedy recovery and wish him all the best.

He'll be alright! I've had collapsed a lung before... it hurts like you would not believe, and at the time it feels like youre going to die until they reinflate your lung... But he'll be alright.

Will most likely miss the rest of the season though. But, will be red-ripe ready to go come pre-season time.

Good luck Ricky, who knows, maye with a speedy recovery he may be able to push for selection again later in the year, though i doubt they would risk him. Bring on 08...

I don't remember seeing the incedent?

Whe did it happen?

Good luck mate, hope its all good from now on.

Very early - within the first 10 minutes of the game. Dr Peter Larkins was all over it on MMM and to be honest I thought he was just over-sensationalising it like he always does. The more he kept talking, though, I soon realised how serious it was. The fact that they sent the "normal" ambulance away and waited for the MICA when the Epworth is 2 mintues away was what got me worried. Poor kid - we met him at the kids clinic and he seems like a nice bloke - very young and living his dream - just shows you have to make the most of what's thrown your way....

Are we going to be able to find 22 players to take to BrisVegas?????

Here's wishing Ricky a speedy recovery.

He's been playing some great footy for us....pity this year had to finish early and like this. Time to be ready for 2008.

On the radio they said when he got hit he doubled over straight away and pointed to his sternum indicating he had breathing problems. As he was going off the field, the ball came near him so he made an attempt to go for it again before heading to the bench - what courage, guts, determination - everything we need in our players!

i just watched the replay and i saw him run off but didn't see anything that else, he ran to a contest and the when godfrey got a free he turned around and came off, must have happened earlier and he stayed out there for a few minutes after the collision.

You can actually see that on the TV coverage, geez it was brave and gutsy knowing in hindsight what condition the bloke was in and how he must have been feeling. Inspirational really and the sort of character we want wearing the red and blue jumper.

Anyone with the match on tape its with the clock on 13:54 remaining in the first qtr you see him with a doctor about 10m away from the bench, but the ball comes in his area he runs away to a contest before jogging off again about 20 seconds later.

Doesnt seem there is anything shown as to how it happened, except for the commentary as he comes off Denis Cometti refers to the niggle that had been taking place between Walker and Petterd in the early part of the game.

Thank god he's alright, wish him all the best in the recovery and we'll look forward to seeing him back in 2008!

Thankfully, it's nowhere near as bad according to this article in the Age - DEMONS YOUNGSTER STABLE AFTER LUNG INJURY.

"Club officials said last night that Petterd, who came from the ground in the first term of the match against Carlton at the MCG, was in a stable condition although he was likely to miss at least a month of football."

Probably should take the rest of the season off and come back fitter and stronger next year.

It was a show of genuinely amazing courage from the young man, in what must have been horribly painful circumstances......

I will join the chorus in wishing him all the best for a full and speedy recovery.

said quick thinking by the doctors saved his life, lets all give the doctors a big hand, they deserve it

And to say thanks to those that took care of him so well.

It is an absolute credit to the club, and to us as supporters, that our medical staff was capable of saving his life.

Get well soon Ricky, and take care of yourself :) !!!

Who said this was a soft game nowdays.....

I am a bit confused though. Has he also got a broken rib or something? The article said a punctured lung.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
