Hope I'm wrong, but I'm thinking he's long gone before our pick 37.

If we really want him, we'll likely have to trade up. As a starting point, North have picks 26 and 27 which is where he's likely to be snapped up.

I agree, I think he is gone by our pick.

Alot of clubs are searching for small forwards so would be surprised if he goes early second round pick.

People thought we reached when we took Kysiah…

Just saying

Another reason keeping 24 in the Tracc deal could have been important.

Yeah we really need to get back in the 20s or he’ll be gone

We had to give it up to get them their points. Three firsts coming back the other way and a bunch of salary cap saving. You can't have everything.

Pick 37 which should come into about 31 feels like about the right mark for him.

North's pick 26 for Dees Pick37 plus Suns future 1 st.

Throw picks 7 and 8 at him

From Fox..

Could Melbourne — yes, the Demons — look at him on night one? It’d be a big call, but that’s the big whisper doing the rounds among draft sources, who also believe Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs have some interest in Pickett

The play will be trading pick 37 and gold coasts future first for a pick from 14-20 to get Pickett.

Once again, why were so desperate to trade out of this draft last year if we are now looking to find additional picks?

Did Lamb, in all his wisdom, ever think that some of those picks that he threw away in the Lindsay deal might have had some value?

Even the extra picks he gifted GC for Petracca could have been handy.

That Judd compensation we threw away to GC would come in handy right about now.

"Threw away" to get GC F1 in the Petracca deal you mean?

We gave 24, 28 and a future second. Surely we could have kept one of 24 or 28 and told GC to use their nepo privileges to make the points up another way.

The deal widely discussed earlier was Petracca + 24 for 7 + 8.

That means it was 28 + F2 for 37 + F1.

That seems a lot to give up considering next year's draft is supposedly better.

Our future second wouldn't be that far off their future first either.

If it's the cost of doing business, so be it. It's just interesting to note in the heat of the trade, pics are just numbers swapping hands, but when the rubber hits the road, we now probably miss out on Pickett

I also don't think we should just assume the Suns will finish top four. They might. But progress, as we got told a lot before 2021, is rarely "linear".

Hawks have 10 & 22, Bulldogs have 14 & 33.

During trade week they spoke to Brenton Sanderson, he spoke about removing the pick associated when picking a player. He said if you need a certain type of player for your club you draft him regardless of where other clubs might have him.

Obviously the first few players pick themselves and you take best available initially but when drafting for needs kicks in you take what you need. As I said in the pick 7 & 8 thread, as quick as someone highlights a potential draftee’s attributes someone else listed their deficiencies.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
