Given that selection is done by a panel, not by the coach on their own (not that we have a full time senior coach yet) then, yep, the club as greater entity is responsible for the decision making.

And last week's effort was flattered highly by the last 3 goals in junk time.

Thousands upon thousands of posts on this site say otherwise.

Found myself in Edmonton in 82. Was treated to a , well, not so much a game, more a spectacle akin to the Colosseum of Ice complete with masked gladiators. I can see where Hill go his inspiration ๐Ÿ˜‰

There's nothing quite like 'Hockey' ...

I spent 1980 in the far north of Canada .

Hockey night in Canada in a pub in the far north on a freezing night was / is something to remember.

Just don't get reported Kozzie, please!

Costing Collingwood the double chance would be a rare win in an otherwise terrible season.

Totally agree with both comments.

Borrowing from the Queen?, it truly has been a โ€˜annus horribilisโ€™ season to date butโ€ฆโ€ฆ.if we happen to beat Collingwood tonight that then contributes to them not winning the premiershipโ€ฆ.all will be forgiven.

Highly unlikely, but I still live in hope. GO DEES

A win or a minor loss to knock them out of the double, a concussion to Maynard and a hammy to Daicos please.

Now I'm not one to wish ill on opposition players, however I do feel that you've left out Darcy Moore here.

Yep 100% agree.

Which is why the trenchant criticism goody frequently received for selection criticism often reflected an ignorance about how AFL teams operate (which was the subtext of my comment).

yes yes yes

please just win dees

It looked like a similar situation here:

2023 Rd19ย โ€“ Port Adelaide (2nd) vs Collingwood (1st) at Adelaide Oval. It went down to the wire. PA 12.11 (83) def. by Coll 13.7 (85). Coll won by 2.

2025 Rd23ย โ€“ Adelaide (1st) vs Collingwood (3rd) at Adelaide Oval. It went down to the wire. Adel 9.5 (59) def. Coll 8.8 (56). Adel won by 3.

2023 Rd20ย โ€“ A Friday night at the MCG, 6 days after Rd19. Collingwood vs Carlton. Coll 10.16 (76) def. by Carl 14.9 (93). Carlton won by 17. Three of Collโ€™s 10 goals were kicked by Jeremy Howe, who was sent forward in the 4th quarter.

2025 Rd24ย โ€“ย A Friday night at the MCG, 6 days after Rd23. Collingwood vs Melbourne. I'd expect our Dees to run Coll's legs off in the 2nd half or in the 4th quarter ...

Can we do it?ย

Yes, if we really want to beat them!

Go Dees!

When Langdon goes to Daicos and the Collingwood players come for him to protect their player which they will I want to see some pride and passion from the Melbourne players. Stand up for your teammate and your club. If I see post game cuddles and jumper swapping with Maynard or Moore that will just about do me.

By the by I love how posters are now criticising the 'club' for performance and selection decisions not the coach.

Suits their agenda. Anyway everyone knows that the board selects the team. They gotta go, again.

Pies easily.

The other day someone on here said maybe Sharpie will tag Naicos. I canโ€™t remember who said it but wondering if anyone thinks thereโ€™s any chance of this happening (?)

and talking about team selection generally, at the Tigers before Hafey, Richmond and Wilson, the team was selected by the parish council at St Ignatius. (Sure is much rubbish stuck in my head)

No Gameday Thread?

Has everyone given up ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Maybe it is because a prime time Friday game is so rare ... after she double checks today is Friday ...

Come on DL'ers support the team one last time for the year!

Seems to be that way Luci.

My back injury has prevented me from attending recently so my head is in the wilderness a bit with match times.

These last 3 weeks I've just assumed we had the Sunday late game until my mum texts me 'Go Dees' about an hour before the bounce and I go into a mad and juvenile panic!

I gave up after the saints game LH. My only interest in AFL is who we pick as coach and who gets traded from our list. A small correction. I am interested in how some of our Casey players perform in the finals games. I looked at the list last night and I reckon there are at least 8 who will never be senior level players.

#Tautology ๐Ÿคฃ

Win, lose or draw their supporters are boss-level feral. One of our members was spat on by a teenage girl following their thumping win over us in round 24 last year. She was with adults (presumably her parents) who did nothing about it. The rotten apple doesnโ€™t fall far from the rotten tree.

I'm going tonight. A month ago I said no way am I going to this game.

However now that they can't finish on top & secure the minor premiership has helped.

I feel like I'm bookending our season. I was there r1 so may as well go r24.

I'm a little intrigued on what will happen.

I don't really enjoy watching it on TV

Plus may as well go to the mighty ground.

But just imagine if we could beat them

In 3 hours I'll probably regret my decision once I'm surrounded by filth

Didn't she also say, "Grief is the price we pay for winning a premiership"?

[censored] Collingwood supporters must breed like rabbits. Their numbers seem to grow on a weekly basis. Iโ€™m at Flinders right now and the place is swarming with them and thereโ€™s still three hours to go. There are little infestations of them everywhere. Take a break, exterminators. No amount of pesticide would remedy this plague.

Conversely, Iโ€™ve yet to see a single Dees fan. But Iโ€™ve been approached by numerous people with words of support which is nice (except for the ones who pitied me, no one likes being pitied).

All good though, these feral [censored]-ers can try but they wonโ€™t bring me down.

GO DEES!!!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
