Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Newton's Game

Wasn't a bad first up game, not great either. He's shown that he can find space in a crowded forwardline and he works hard the other way, contrary to some beliefs on this site.

He could be a very good player, I just hope he gets more games this year.

The best thing about his game tonight, was the chase he put on in the first quarter. He kept at it, and in the end forced the turnover.

Thought he showed great intelligence, and did lots of really nice, small things to help out the boys. Had at least 2 goal assists that I can remember.

Well done Juice, excellent debut game given the circumstances and the fact that you played on one of the best in the business in Fletcher. You kept him honest, which is more than a lot of forwards can say.

Good team player... made all the right choices and was unlucky that the ball wasnt kicked in his direction more...

I know he dropped that uncontested mark but hey, its his first game and im sure his a little nervous. good stuff, juice

After his first game Newton looks to be the spark Melbourne needs in the forward line. Ten possedsions, 2 goals, I'm sure Dunny could be worried getting back in as well as the form of the Sylvia n Bate tag team he he.

I don't think there's any reason for Lynden Dunn to be worried by Juice. They will both play many games together for the MFC and we can expect to see more youth in the red and blue. A few of the older names will soon fade into obscurity and the last two months or so will definitely see a different MFC to the one that played tonight.

It was a great game tonight because the teams played football the way the crowds love it. No flooding, no tempo shmempo and none of the fancy tactics and strategies that teams usually have to play week in, week out. The four points really didn't matter in the end as far as I'm concerned. Melbourne got itself off the floor and played good football on half the necessary cylinders and probably should have won. In that respect it was a fitting tribute to Neale Daniher because that was the style of game he promoted for most of his time at the club.

In order to stay with the leading clubs, he has modified the game plan lately and this year attempted the introduction of the run and carry style. Although his team was starting to get better at it, the weight of injuries ensured that his grand design for 2007 wouldn't be achieved. Despite all that, I believe that Melbourne has the basis there for the future and success may not be all that far away given that our record this year stands at 2/11. We are much better than that and one day we will be thankful to Neale Daniher for what he did for the club. That's my tribute for him tonight.

Spot on Jaded - Juices work rate when we didn't have possession was fantastic to watch - kept on chasing all night

fianally the newton hype is over, I wouldnt say it was a excellent debut, but he did enough on his first outing to suggest they should play him for the remainder of the year. He only needs to look at Neitz to see what he has to do to be a great forward.

Dunny can play in that forward line..dunny is more a flanker/CHF...Juice is FF

Anyone who expected 10 goals on debut was kidding themselves.

He did as much as I thought he would, especially given the focus on Neita and Robbo.

Very impressed by his workrate and his intelligence. You can't buy a football brain like that at the supermarket.

Jaded I didnt expect 10 goals, he done what I expected, showed glimpes of what lies ahead. So with a bit more muscle and a big pre- season, I hope he can become a regular member of the 22 next year.

I recon it was a great game by juice. Its much easier for Pettard to have a good first game as its easier to play midield. But to be man on man with fletcher requires some good form. Well worth the $ raised. Well done. I still think Dunn deserves to be in the team but yeah couldnt give a toss about selection yet

The money raised was well worth it in ANY case. The club's gonna need it soon...

On Juice, I was listening to much of the game on the radio... Nathan Buckley actually said he was our best forward in the first half... while he wasn't kicking goals he was creating opportunities and leading/marking well... defending well...

That's encouraging... unless you don't rate Buckley.

The best thing about newton's debut was the fact the kid knew where to go to and how to find space, next week he should be a lot more confident.

I loved the mark he flew for and nearly took in the first? fletcher took it instead but a great leap.

just might see him and robbo smack heads as they both sit on their opponents shoulders :)

First time I have seen the young man play - went ok!! Reckong he will line up again next week; given the pain Neitz seemed to be labouring with he may well miss a few.

I was pleased. He worked hard, made the contest every time, and did all the team things like chasing and passing off when someone had a better shot.

I think he (and Robbo for that matter) had vaseline on his hands though. Maybe it was the nerves but he dropped a few marks he should've taken, especially that one in the last.

Overall though very happy. Definitely earned another run.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
