I just read that Alan Didak of the filth was apparently hanging around with the gunman who killed a man the other week while he was firing at a trucking firm.

If these allegations are true, would that mean the end of this player?

The statement Collingwood made sounds like a load of crap.

Never knew the guy, who introduced himself as a fan, yet got into a car with him... yes, that doesn't sound dodgy at all

Also admitted to drinking heavily that night.

He is only a witness though, so really, he hasn't done anything wrong legally.

Nobody should be suggesting that he had anything to do with what happened, only that he has extremely poor judgement.

Edit: Apparently Sylvia was also at the club earlier that night, and drinking, but Melbourne said he wasn't hanging out with Didak.

just saw a press conference on it on the footy show, didak sat there and said nothing, odd that he was even there. but they don't seem to be questioning his playing career, apparently it was the night of QB, so unrelated to the shooting anyway, and i doubt there wasa curfew as it was berfore the break, so i can't really see why it would jeopardise his career

you could have gotten in a car with a future dangerous criminal in it without knowing it. it's not like didak would have known the guy would murder someone. unless there are more details we don't know about, which is possible, i doubt anything will happen to him

The venue I understood to be Bar Code. From here Didak accepted a lift from Hudson and finished up at a Hell's Angels clubhouse. He admits to extreme inebriation but became alarmed at his situation and pleaded to be driven home. The C'wood player was a rear seat passenger in a coupe-style vehicle and he alleges it was being driven erratically. Hudson was one of the other two in the car. The club release makes no mention of any further event or incident but it would be reasonable to assume that Didak is not helping police with their enquiries in relation to an episode of dangerous driving. The Pies say their forward was eventually dropped off near the city and got a cab home.

COLLINGWOOD footballer Alan Didak has been questioned by police over an incident involving what the club called a “chance” meeting with murder suspect Christopher Wayne Hudson.

Didak has not been charged by police and the club emphasised his ongoing co-operation with police as a witness.

The club said Didak had been “drinking heavily” at a Melbourne nightclub in the early hours of Tuesday, June 12, when he met and accepted a lift from Hudson.

The club said Didak felt he “had no choice” but to accompany Hudson and another man to a bikie gang clubhouse, and became “desperate to get out of the car” and “increasingly concerned for his own safety” when the driving became erratic.

He was eventually let out of the car and returned safely home by taxi.

Hudson is facing charges, including one count of murder, over the June 18 Melbourne CBD shootings.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said police were investigating an incident in which shots were allegedly fired into a factory in suburban Campbellfield on June 12.

Hudson was wanted for questioning over the alleged incident, police said.

In a press conference at Collingwood’s Lexus Centre on Thursday evening, Didak said: “I am only now fully aware of the situation I found myself in. I deeply regret the embarrassment caused to myself, my family and the football club.”

The AFL said it is awaiting a full briefing from Collingwood and cannot add any detail at this stage.

Magpie CEO Gary Pert read the following statement:

The Collingwood Football Club confirms that on the morning of the June 12, 2007 Alan Didak had a chance meeting at a nightclub with a person who he now knows is being investigated in relation to the recent shootings.

Prior to this chance meeting, Alan had never met or spoken to this person, who introduced himself as a fan, and when ready to go home the person offered Alan a lift.

Whilst in the car the person insisted that Alan accompany him to a bike gang clubhouse. Alan felt he had no choice but to comply. At the clubhouse Alan was introduced to another person. He stayed for a short time, before insisting that he needed to go home.

He was then driven as a passenger in the back seat of a coupe with two other people in the front.

Alan observed erratic and dangerous driving and was desperate to get out of the car

Eventually Alan was let out near the city and made his way home by taxi.

Alan has been cooperating with the police as a witness over the last 48 hours by providing as much information as he is able to.

Prior to this ordeal, Alan had been drinking very heavily, and as the night’s events unfolded he became increasingly concerned for his own safety.

Alan will continue to assist police with their enquiries as a witness, and Alan has not been charged with any offence.

This matter is still under investigation by the police, and details of this statement have been prepared in conjunction with the Victorian police force. Therefore there is no further comment by the club or Alan Didak at this stage.

We will meet as a club with Alan tomorrow.

Pert added: “We’re not saying that Alan was held against his will. What we are saying is that as you can imagine in the back of a coupe car with two other people in the front seat of the car, it is impossible to get out if you are finding the driving erratic.”

Agree totally. In the current environment a player has to be stupid to put themselves in that sort of situation. It may not be fair but that's life.

With the rest of the Didak situation, it sounds like he's been very stupid but it's not to the same extent as the Gardiner/Cousins situation a few years ago when they did not cooperate with police. Timing couldn't be worse though
