Great win against the ladder leaders!! Surging into finals

one of the best wins demons have had all year, against the formerly ladder-leading hawks

12.16.88 to 9.11.65

a dominant performance after quarter time

final stats:

my best, based upon stream viewing:

6: billings
5: spargo
4: bonner
3: laurie
2: tholstrup
1: fullarton

it feels strange to say this but... fullarton should be perservered with, as a tall defender option

he's been great the last month of footy

Bring your girlfriend!

The last 10 minutes were horrible, totally outplayed by the Hawks who couldn't hit the side of a barn with their goal kicking. Too much handballing just to get rid of pressure, just handballing to a team mate under more pressure. But continual great defense by the back 6, and some class from Spargo, Billings, Kolt and Laurie.

Makes for an interesting finals series.

Casey were never seriously challenged Mboy38.

Land of the giraffes down there. Long way from ball drop to boot. And it showed.

Plus the handball while not perfect busted open the game for a stirring Casey victory.

Agree re: final series

Sinnema is class and will be a player, can't wait to see him develop.

I still think we should offer Bonner a rookie spot to release Salem or Bowey up the field.

Good win!

Kolt - showing something and also showing why he just needs to play consistent footy in a team with the same role.

Billings - just a VFL specialist

I think Johnson is what we need in our AFL side, for now.

Kentfield - coming along nicely, not a great game but kicked 3 somehow

Sinnema - showed more than enough

Mentha - just needs to be a little harder but that's just nit picking

Laurie - I can't understand why he can't translate this to AFL, he might just be another Billings

Fullarton - has made himself as a backman(VFL)

Spargo - Keep doing that and you will force yourself back into the AFL

Brown & Woey - same every week

Jefferson - interesting game, not horrible but we need him marking

Frankston and Lions drew, meaning I think we go to 5th if Willy wins and 6th if Tigers win, but we are out of wildcard and have a week’s rest before finals and Casey get a couple of players back like Culley and Howes.

Edited by Redleg

There was a draw at Frankston between Casey’s neighbour and the Brisbane Lions which was enough to assure the Demons of at least sixth place on the ladder after they won their fifth game on the trot against the ladder leaders. This means they get a week’s break (or another bye if you like 😄) and a home elimination final.

If Williamstown can beat Richmond, Casey will finish fifth!

Now let’s find a place to hide Toby SInnema away for a couple of months.

AND a home final, I presume.

And against battered wild-carders?

Fantastic result- l had to leave at 1\2 time and just got home.

It was a perfect day - sun shining and no wonder.

Guess who was there ?

The Ghosty person.

She didn’t know you could go onto the ground at 1\4 time !

But she didn’t need any encouragement once l told her !

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
