Who Will Be Our Next Coach?

This was before the 2021 GF. Bevo accused Morris of trying to undermine the Bulldogs with his reporting of someone being dropped

Edit: Sorry, after Rnd 1 2022. Link below

I'd love to get Bevo to our club just to do Pressers. He is a bit of a loose unit and not the sort of person you'd want to be trapped in a broken down elevator with.

Should be a secondary consideration, a long way behind who is the most likely candidate to have this team playing a "brand" of football that gives us a chance to win another flag. Call me old school, but I reckon winning games attracts and retains talent, not appointing big names of yesteryear.

Given the way the best sides play game has shifted considerably since Buckley left the AFL, that his last team underperformed and played a dated style, and no second time coach (besides, ironically, Malthouse) has had any success this century, this is hardly the safe option many fans on here seemingly believe.

Yes, Buckley hasn’t coached for a while but he watches and dissects every game so knows what works and what doesn’t. Throw in his frustration at missing flags both as a player and as a coach he could be just the man.

Yes he’d very much have the hunger to achieve the ultimate

Grand Final Day. Peel off apeing the Super Bowl and you might find some football underneath. But not necessary the space to enjoy it.

Snopp Dogg’s world? Not exactly uplifting don’t need the misogynism either.

A personal playlist;

Waiting for the Man

Sweet Jane

White Light White Heat

*bit of a cheat think lovely spring day and your team wins. Demons!

The club leaks seem to be drying up… all of the intel on this club-selection process now seems to be coming from the candidates and not the club + we’ve heard very little on player exit interviews (especially Clarry).

My best guess is incoming CEO and president have had to step in. This is a good sign.

The leeks at Melbourne have very much dried

Only getting contact now from a family member. Other board members don’t speak when around anymore

My contact at the dogs however has said there is a 5 year deal on offer for Bevo to sign if he wants and Dogs will not stand in his way and fight for him like they did earlier in the year

Interesting choice for Bevo, better list at dogs but is his job secure after not making finals

It's very odd, because Luke is actually the nicest bloke.

Beveridge can’t make finals with the list he’s got now, how’s he gonna do it the MFC?

Do you mean a 5 year offer coaching us? No chance that’s right.

Interesting though if he interviews, do current/contracted coaches take those meetings?

If we sign Bevo for 5 years I might legit give up AFL and just support the Women's for a bit.

If Luke Beveridge comes anywhere near MFC then thats it for me as well!

Caro-Lying has heard plenty of justified criticism of Bevo from Kornado about how his great list have underperformed for many seasons.

I'm sure she's said the same herself on the real footy podcast.

Despite this she frequently says Bevo should be our coach instead of Bucks or almost anyone else.

I'm starting to suspect she might not have our best interests as a club in her heart!

Does anyone else think her agenda might be to burden us with a mediocre coach who will have us languishing mid-table!?

Goody was one of her sources and she wants Buckley to go to Tassie. She literally wrote an article trying to convince him not to join us.

Also a tremendous boxer from all reports.

There was a rumour years ago that he took down 7-8 Bombers players at a bar about 10 years ago.

Sounds like toxic masculinity to me...

But it would be box office seeing Tom Morris v Bevo as a Melb coach if we keep having leaks

The best leeks are dried leeks, that’s for sure.

That’s disappointing. The whole team would have been better, especially if it was the 2000 Essendon GF thug squad.

Wouldn't mind giansiracusa, seems motivated to improve his coaching. Something that we need desperately to instill in the club.

One of the interesting thing about the Dog's list is it highlights key forwards are no longer anywhere near as important in terms of driving success as they used to be. They just aren't that influential.

And similarly it highlights the risk of loading up on key forwards in the draft.

My vibe. Which is based on nothing but my own reading because I have no clear intel and wanna stress that upfront is that we haven’t got a firm yes from Nathan Buckley and it’ll be him if/when that comes

We’re running a process in case he says no and our senior coach in 2026 will be one of Nathan Buckley, Corey Enright or Danny Daly

There were a few 2000 GF players involved

Please educate us all to the conditions surrounding this alledged occasion .

For all we know it was self defence...

But hey swing that judge/jury gavel by all means

Are people actually giving this insane rumour the time of day? 😂

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
