Yes.

But I'd be staggered if Buckley wasn't offered the job prior to us sacking Goody.

If you're Buckley you're not going to risk putting your name out there unless you're confident of getting the gig.

It impacts on your brand to not get senior roles if you go for them and have media love ins about it.

Appreciate the info

Disappointing that just as it seems we started getting organised off field a new board room stoush appears

Hopefully itโ€™s much ado about nothing but the MFCSS in me is always worried about the new and innovative ways we manage to mess things up

I would imagine that it is more likely that he pulls out of the race for (insert any reason) before "not getting the gig".

You'd have to assume that if he wants the gig he will get it.

This is true and he did lay some potential fall back ground work on that OTC segment last night, but I think it's more likely the board have said, cool your jets publicly, so we can be seen to run a coaching search. But who knows.

a mess how?

we have appointed a new ceo

our board is settled, with an orderly changeover from the current president to the next at the agm in december

revenue remains strong

our crowds have held up pretty well despite some ghastly on-field form

our membership is, again despite our woeful performances on field, i think the third highest it's ever been at the end of the accounting period?

or does sacking a coach - a football-related action, so closer to on-field than off, and more likely to affect revenue, attendance, and memberships than anything else - count as 'off field'?

Has there been a release of interim financial results? Revenue up? I guess we had both the Richmond and Collingwood (KB) games as home games.

How sad! If we get Buckley it would be "he never won a flag (and maybe he was out of coaching too long or that McRae did way better with apparently the same team).

If we got Simpson or Horse it'd be how their sides ended up dreadful ( or just dreadful in GFs)

Just about anyone else it would "we should have got an experienced coach ...or stuck with Goody."

It's so easy to whinge.

Longest I've heard Caro speak without negatively bashing Melbourne.

In all seriousness, Buckley takes over from Malthouse a year ahead of schedule. Takes over a team that played in multiple grand finals in recent years. Has Malthouse's boys running the show. Buckley struggles to get everyone on the same page and after 2 years they rebuild.

Perhaps Buckley didn't handle the situation right, but those are lessons of a first time coach. Interesting to see what he will do with our list if given the reigns.

NO, she uses a dirty, sneaky argument designed to diminish our situation, and you added your own little concoction just to be childishly repetitive.

Can anyone, absolutely anyone, please provide evidence that "we are a mess off the field" as often claimed on Land? Since Green took over, all I've noted is that the Club has resolved one issue after another that had been stinking up the place for years. We are in a substantially better place now than at any time in our recent past. Well done Greeny.

Simon Goodwins sacking was leaked to the media half way through a zoom meeting letting our senior players know their coach has been sacked.

Thatโ€™s a monumental governance failing that something like they leaked out.

Leaving aside asking how you know that, it still proves nothing about leaks. Entirely possible that a senior player's partner is overhearing or just watching the zoom call, hears Goodwin is sacked and rings some mate with the news and off we go. I'm more interested in the future than witch hunts about leaks.

The leaks have been continually and outrageous. Even the supposed leadership meeting last year in a restaurant where players were reported as making loud 'character assessments' of a certain team mate.

Every step, every issue leaks. Everyone knew most of the detail of Clarry's issues which was also a great way of ensuring that - had we pursued a trade - the trade value was ruined.

Um - no it's not. By that time it's as good as public knowledge. Do you really expect 100 people to stay 'mum' once the decision is announced internally?

Not sure why people are against Buckley because he didn't win a flag at Collingwood , personally that's great. The following coaches didn't win a flag at their first club, they are Paul Roos ,Alastair Clarkson (4 flags at Hawthorn) and Mick Malthouse ( achieved flags at W.Coast and Collingwood)

How do you know "every step, every issue leaks?" You've done a comparative analysis of that that hasn't leaked that that that has?

Tom Morris broke the news. The question is who leaked it to him?

On Monday night a lot of people would have known: Board member/very senior manager or their partners/families. Goodwin or his partner/family/manager/network. A senior player/assistant coach.

It needn't be someone who leaked to him in the past.

Lever sounded like he was of a mind to find out! But it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Those that tie themselves up in knots over supposed 'diabolical' leaks are still living in the days of rotating alphabetic dial wheels and snail mail. Electronic communication, in all its forms, is instantaneous and within arms length for every human on the planet. What you refer to as 'leaks' are embedded in human behaviour in the now world. get over it!

True it would take mere seconds.

But someone 'connected' to the club made the conscious decision to inform TM.

How come Peter Jackson made it is his first point of call to ensure information stopped leaking out of the club? Stop making excuses for the club, it doesn't help.

I don't post much but I can't believe that so many supporters want Buckley as our coach.

He failed as a coach for Collingwood even though the Pies absolutely adored him. I was surrounded by so many Pies friends that I wanted him out year after year.

True, he almost pinch a premiership but people should inspect that season closer. Collingwood had an easy draw and did not beat anyone in the top 8 except for us during the home and away season! They were extremely lucky to finish in the top 4 which handed them a second chance after they lost to West Coast in the first finals. Then of course went to win the next two games and almost a third.

I do hope we explore all options.

According to Green "A world wide search" I hope the club follows a process as originally suggested

Or someone'connected' told someone not connected, who made the conscious decision...

Board leaks, leadership issues, cultural issues, infighting with former staff/board members, public spats with prospective board members, interim President, interim CEO, no home base...

That's a start.

The internet was in operation when Jackson was in charge and I remember the leaks were almost non existent. letโ€™s be honestโ€ฆ we have a problem.

As Tom Morris said โ€Every Club Leaksโ€.
