You heard Maxy on triple M yesterday. The players will be up for this game.

and remember, they don't have Goody to shield them now. they don't have goody to take the blame

if i was a player, I'd want to show the powers that be that I'm worth my place on the list. there are 3 weeks remaining to do so

Yes, now there is clear air.

The Ray lamp is solely on the players now.

Let’s see who wants to/ should be on the List next year.

This has now turned out to be a very big positive.

Lost at selection again Goody

I only know the result of last night's game because my brother texted me with the observation that by the final round game against us Collingwood could be playing to retain their spot in the 8.

All it would take is for -

The Giants to win their three games against Kangaroos, Suns and Saints.

The Bulldogs to beat us, West Coast, and Fremantle both at Docklands.

The Suns only need to win two of their remaining four and hold onto their percentage. That's Carlton, Essendon, Port and GWS.

Hawthorn play us and the Lions. A win and 4%, or two wins, obviously, would get them over the Pies.

Fremantle is the trickiest one. They play Port, Brisbane (in Perth) and the Bulldogs. Since Bulldogs must win all theirs, Freo would have to get the other two wins done.

Five paths need to meet, but they each range from 'very likely' to 'realistically possible'.

Then it is just up to Adelaide and ourselves to complete the set for a truly historic Colliwobble.

Understatement of the year

Yawn, another underwhelming week at selection.

To be honest, I'm surprised they haven't dropped Sharp and replaced him with Spargo or Tholstrup - swapping those guys around seems to be the extent of the selectors' creativity this year.

I'm really disappointed that we haven't brought anyone new into the side to test them out especially Laurie, Brown, Woey, Seston (I know he's been injured etc). Surely Viney could have been rested and maybe have surgery if needed. Other players such as Sharp, we know he offers speed but isn't in the play enough could've been another. Hoping Jeffo gets the next 3 games at least. Don't want Campbell in as he offers nothing other than in the ruck and isn't the future. Apart from offering Max a rest, I'd have thrown Verrall in the deep end. Surely a new coach can see potential in the squad. A win is neither here nor there. It just adds to a very unadventurous season and a play in safe attitude. Chaplin will never be appointed Goody's successor regardless whether we win the last 3 or not.

Love Ange, love what he has done and what he means in World Football but we would leak like a sieve.

My mail says we've got another debutant this week..

Hopefully Adams rather than Campbell, at least he is younger

For the life of me I've NFI why Campbell is on our list. He's older than Max, played 58 games at 4 clubs over 12 seasons, and has zero chance in being part of our next flag. AJ before TC every day.

Campbell in… will they rest Max? Wow that’ll be a big, avoidable cluster.

It's annoying to say the least. Put games into Verrall/AJ etc instead of Campbell who has zero forward craft. The word is someone is going to debut so it'll either be Campbell/Adams. I hoping it's Adams, if it's not win, lose or draw it's another wasted opportunity in a game that has no significance for us this year.

Sounds like ur trip was amazing. It's what twice in a couple of years. I haven't been on here for a while because of password issues.

I can only think TC was an 'in case of emergency break glass' thinking. ( for MG )

Great to hear! Good luck Jed, he's shown a lot of improvement this year.

Nice, always exciting with another debut. (And more exciting than it would have been with the break glass emergency Campbell, no offense)

Whose spot will Adams take though?

Surely he's our first ever Jed?

Looking forward to seeing Jed debut. Hopefully the first of many games in the red and blue

Good luck young man

I really like Chaplin. He's been very successful for us and I hope he stays on as an assistant or development coach going forward.

A familiar face might not be a bad thing to keep, in the midst of all the changes that are coming.

It is pretty obvious from listening to him that we have our targets already lined up and are confident one of them will be appointed fairly soon.

If we can get someone in in the next 5-6 weeks that will be ideal. Gives a new coach plenty of time to get themselves sorted pre draft and trade period. Not to mention time to get new assistants sorted. I can't imagine too many others will keep their job.

And well done Adams. Been wanting to see him debut for a while now.

Jed ‘Clampett’ Adams

Good name for a defender.

Adams is great news!

I wonder who misses from last week? May sounded like we want another tall down back... The defenders on the bench are McVee and part timers Windsor and Petty.

Given we want McVee to re-sign It would be foolish to drop him 😢would it not 😭

I would guess it would have to be TMac's, unless we dropped a smaller defender to combat Naughton and Darcy more effectively? Baptism of fire for Adams, but glad he is finally getting a crack.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
