Best of luck Disco and T Mac, youโ€™re gonna need it!

Looking forward to us returning to the โ€˜G after two weeks at that soulless stadium which I refuse to set foot in. Will be there in full voice - win, lose or draw.

Well I think u are denying yourself some pleasure. MFC play well at Docklands. Forget the last quarter last week, we played bloody well to 3/4 time

ย

Consecutive weeks of opportunity to ruin the season of a team with finals aspirations. If we beat the Dogs next week, theyโ€™re pretty much stuffed. Itโ€™s possible Hawthorn could be in the same boat the following week. I would love absolutely nothing more than to be the team that knocks Hawthorn out of the 8.

I have high hopes but low expectations. Just play consistent competitive footy. Please.

Over the next few weeks , i would like to see Kentfield , Adams and Sestan given a go at senior level. We have nothing to play for and it will give encouragement to the younger players.

I donโ€™t agree that we have nothing to play for. Dog and Hawks are both hanging on for dear life and potentially competing for the last spot in the 8. Feathers are available for ruffling. From a supporter point of view that adds a huge amount of intrigue. Iโ€™d love to finish the year in good form.

If you look at our form mid season against the better sides then we should be a 50/50 chance against these last 3. But after twice being defeated by the saints in the last 5 weeks and once when we 7-3 goals in front at 3/4 time I have zero confidence in our ability to lose by less than 6 goals. Just looked at the scores for the saints / North game, it's taken the Saints 3 quarters to establish any sort of lead over North. I am still dumbfounded how we lost either game especially the last one 8 days ago.

Gees mate you are a really on a high after that one win against the Cellar Dwellersโ€ฆ stop insulting the many long term members and supporters on here who have expressed real and justifiable concerns about the performance of the team and the Club. Youโ€™re entitled not to share their sense of realism but just donโ€™t bag them for it . Many of them have supported this Club through thick and thin for decades.

"Realism". Seriously?

Last week's relentless bagging of the club, the selectors, Goodwin, and those involved in picking Viney (13 clearances, 8 tackles) and Petty (8 marks, 3 goals โ€” could've been 5) says more about the critics than the selections.

A great reminder of how far these so-called "realists" are from actual reality.

Armchair experts with zero info, no expertise, and none of the cojones required to take a balanced, informed view of current performances. But plenty of conspiracy theories.

Sam Darcy going to kick 10. He could legitimately be inside the top 3 of the Coleman by end of next round. He is currently 8th.

Dogs are 2-6 outside of Marvel and Ballarat. It's going to be a decent challenge but it's 9th vs 12th when you look at it on paper and it's at our home ground. At least we know who their mids are going to kick it to.

Hmm Sportsbet wonโ€™t show past round 22 so you canโ€™t firm up a multi

Just keep rolling it over.

This one could get ugly.

Dogs ball use by foot is lethal, and with our defence lacking both defensive stalwarts, their forwards could have a field day.

Midfield need to play out of their skin.

Last time I looked mate we are sitting well in the bottom 8 , looking at a sub 40 % win/ loss ratio (less than half our 2021 win/ loss ratio and it will be about 40% even if we win the next three games!) , are bleeding members (and consequently money ) and to put it kindly have a chaotic administration. What about that is not realistic??? These are facts.I wish they werenโ€™t .

So Petty has a reasonably good game against one of the weakest teams the AFL has seen for years ! What the hell does that prove?? He has shown clearly the last two Seasons he is low in the rankings of AFL forwards.

Viney is a great Club man and has been a quality player. He is still a good player but his form ( understandably given heโ€™s a veteran player) has dropped especially over the last two Seasons.

Im not expecting to win...

I think a few guys might have revisited their "better foitball" v Weagles. As some suggest ( and I'd agree ) it's hard to measure when the oppo isn't that flash. That said there was semblance of linking . Much of these 'better passages" WILL be put to a higher test against the puppies but I'm thinking this might be a more even game than some might predict.

Might come down more to a battle of wits.

Going to be an interesting game imo.

Some supporters like the one arguing with you fail to realise what made AFL- VFL footy so popular, it was a chance for people of all status to come together and have an opinion on this or that player, how the team was going, if the coach is any good, when players time is up. You didnt have to be an ex champion to have an opinion. Its tough on modern players with online criticism on sites like these but remember they are paid professionals.

Gawn?

Sorry, how do you do that?

1 of 2 ways,

1st : (the simplist way) just simply place your 1st bet, go to the list of betting options for the game and go to โ€œBig win little winโ€ and select the opposition to win by 40 +. At the moment Dogs are paying $1.32 head to head, so for 40+ you might get $1.65. Letโ€™s say you bet $100 you would get $165 back. Wait till the end of the round and repeat the process on the next game this time though your betting $165. Same principal as a standard multi but itโ€™s done over separate weeks.

2nd : contact Sportsbet direct and ask them to frame a market for Dees to lose next 3 game by 40+ and they will give you odds for your bet. Out of interest two years ago I did something similar but asked for odds of North going winless for the season for a novelty bet. I think they gave me odds of $7 for my $100 bet. I would of gotten better value placing my initial bet and keep rolling it over myself.

Sadly BB I think the only left to decide is the winning margin. Dogs by 7 goals 2 behinds. I cannot see our Forward line with the key forwards of JVR and Petty kicking a winning score. Fritz, milkshake and Kossy will need to kick 4 each to give us a chance. It's no big surprise but their forwards will slaughter us. It might be a wild thought but next Sunday how about we play Petty in the backline. Yes a wild thought forget I mentioned it.

PS predictive script! If I wanted to type Kissy I would have typed Kissy on the first try, after the 3rd try it finally got the message.

Yep agree with this. Dogs are far better at Marvel and rarely play at the G, and when they do they inevitably lose. Theyโ€™ve lost 7 out of their last 9 games at the G dating back to 2022 and the two wins were against a hapless Richmond.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, weโ€™ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: โ€œThen came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.โ€ Today, weโ€™re back in the same place although oneย difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, โ€œIt was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, โ€ฆโ€ย  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
